Cressida for the Heatwave event
@ggblasts
"i just like helping people, and honestly, i don't want to go back to serving people t any kind of country club. i've done enough of that." she said with a laugh. "well, the less i have to see of my ex fiance and his current fiance, the better, so yeah, it's all working out, at least right now."
Cressida's eyes widened slightly. "A country club? That alone would be enough motivation for me to go back to school." She laughed softly. "I don't know how people survive spending all day smiling politely at people who think the world revolves around them."
The amusement faded into something more understanding at the mention of Sofia's ex-fiancé. "Ah. That explains a lot." She took a sip of her drink before continuing. "Honestly, I can't blame you. If throwing yourself into work and nursing school keeps you from having front-row seats to that particular disaster, I'd call that a win." A small smile crossed her face. "Besides, building a future for yourself sounds like a much better use of your time than worrying about what they're doing."
"I wanna say it's boring, but Imogen and I are currently having a fight." Brittany sighed and looked at Cressida. "How are you though?"
Cressida winced sympathetically. "A fight with Imogen? That sounds significantly more entertaining than boredom, but probably a lot less fun to live through."
She tilted her head, studying Brittany for a moment. "Want to tell me what happened, or are you still in the stage where you're replaying the argument and coming up with all the things you should've said?"
At the question, Cressida offered a small smile. "I'm doing alright. Mostly just observing the chaos around me and trying to decide if I should get involved or stay comfortably on the sidelines. It's a difficult decision, really." Her eyes glinted with amusement. "So far, the chaos is winning."
"Probably a mix of both, if I'm being honest." John B looked at Cressida. "Though, I do tend to work and try to stay off of Gossip Girl's radar."
Cressida let out a quiet laugh, shaking her head. "Now that's a survival strategy I can respect. Work hard, keep your head down, and try not to become the main character of the week."
She lifted her glass slightly. "Unfortunately, Gossip Girl seems to have a habit of finding people whether they want the attention or not." A smirk tugged at her lips. "Though I have to ask, are you actually good at staying off the radar, or are you just lucky so far?"
"Yeah, well, at least when I was Gossip Girl, I wrote credible stuff. Whoever runs the account now just seems to like to talk to see what lands." He looked at Cressida and smiled. "I'm doing pretty good, can't complain. You going to the Heatwave party this month?"
"Maybe she feel she has to make shit up because people have become so boring." she shrugged. "Yeah probably."
"being a cna, i'm currently working and planning on going to nursing school soon so i can keep working and move up the ladder for work." sofia explained and shrugged. "a bit of both, it keeps me away from...people i don't want to be around."
Cressida's expression softened slightly, genuine interest replacing some of her usual amusement.
"Nursing school? That's impressive. I don't think I have the patience for that kind of work." She gave a small shake of her head. "Taking care of people all day sounds exhausting, even if it is rewarding."
At Sofia's last comment, her brow lifted knowingly. "Ah. Running toward a goal and away from people at the same time. Efficient." A faint smile tugged at her lips as she took a sip of her drink. "Though if you're working that hard just to avoid certain people, I hope they're at least worth all the effort you're putting in." She paused for a moment. "Or better yet, I hope nursing school ends up being worth it regardless of who you're avoiding."
"it's always this dull and it's always been this dull." esme looked at cressida. "everyone has rose colored glasses though and it's pathetic."
Cressida's lips curved into a knowing smile as she gave a small nod. "You're not wrong. People love pretending things were better than they actually were. Makes it easier than admitting they've spent years romanticizing the same tired nonsense."
She took a sip of her drink before glancing around the room. "Though I suppose rose-colored glasses are preferable to seeing everything exactly as it is. Most people can't handle that for very long." Her gaze returned to Esme, curious. "So tell me, are you naturally this cynical, or has this place earned it?"
"Does that really surprise you though?" She raised a brow a ther. "Seriously, I honestly think Gossip Girl is to blame for this. At least, this new Gossip Girl is. She makes everything...dull."
"Can we really blame Gossip Girl? I mean she's only as good as the shit people do. If people are being boring, then Gossip Girl has nothing to really report on."
Ella had just finished up a phone call when Cressida spoke to her and she laughed. "Come on Cress, you and I both know that this place has gotten so boring, that paint drying has become entertaining."
Cressida laughed outright, shaking her head in agreement. "That might be the most accurate description of this town I've heard all week. At least paint has the decency to eventually do something."
She glanced around the room before looking back at Ella. "Honestly, I'm starting to think we're the only thing keeping this place from flatlining completely." A mischievous glint appeared in her eyes. "So tell me, are we judging everyone in the room, or are we actually going to find a way to entertain ourselves?"
"I need you to get the fuck out of my face right now. I'm literally still in college, and whatever the Bruins do, is not on me, so fuck off, before I punch you in the face." He said and watched as the drunk walked away. Walking up to the bar, he ordered a drink and looked at the person who came up to him. "Put their drinks on my tab too." @ggstarterblog
"Wow, that was a bit rough to watch. You good?"
"I mean, it's always dull here, but then again, I have been trying to know more about my fae-side and coming up short so there is that." He shrugged and looked at Cressida. "I'm surprised you don't have something fun up your sleeve."
Cressida raised a brow, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of her lips. "Trying to figure out your fae side sounds a lot more interesting than whatever this is." She gestured vaguely to the room around them before letting out a soft laugh. "Though coming up short sounds frustrating. Are you bad at finding answers, or is your mysterious fae side just refusing to cooperate?"
At his last comment, she tilted her head, amusement flickering across her expression. "Who says I don't? Maybe I just like seeing how long people can survive the boredom before I step in."
"Everyone is probably scared of what Gossip Girl has to say." Rafe looked at Cressida. "Which is pathetic if you ask me."
"People who live their lives afraid of Gossip Girl, aren't really living."
"I just thought that maybe I could trust people again but it seems that I trusted the wrong ones. Again. Don't worry, they won't get any chances to be back in my life even if they beg." Belle told her and smirked. "Perfect and the bride loves pink so those are just the best choice for her. It fits her really well. How was your week? Not as busy as mine, I hope. It's been crazy."
Cressida gave a small hum, tilting the bouquet in her hands. “Good. People always come crawling back the second they realize they lost access to you. Doesn’t mean they deserve a seat at the table again.” She glanced over with the faintest smirk. “At least now you know better.”
At the question, she shrugged lightly. “Busy enough, but not wedding-level chaotic. Mostly the usual. Though hearing your week has been crazy somehow makes me feel better about mine.”
"uh, i think it's boring, but also, i have been working more than anything else, so i can't really tell you if it's just boring right now or not."
Cressida let out a quiet laugh, lifting a shoulder in an easy shrug. "Working too much will make anything seem boring, so I think you get a pass." Her gaze flickered over Sofia for a second, curious more than judgmental. "What kind of work has been stealing all your time?"
She tilted her head slightly, the faintest hint of amusement still on her face. "And more importantly, do you even like it, or are you just surviving it?"
"You arrived at the worst possible time." She looked at Cressida. "Though, I feel like a lot of the time, it's just dull here. Manhattan used to be fun."
"Right? It's like Manhattan has become boring."
"I don't know, I feel like if I talk shit about Gossip Girl, then she'll write about me, and honestly, I am loving not having her write about me." He laughed. "How have you been, Cressida?"
"Says the original queen of gossip himself?" Cressida teases. "I've been good Humphrey. How about you?"
Cressida stood near the edge of the bar, her gaze drifting over the crowd as if she were searching for something more interesting than polite conversation. A faint, knowing smile touched her lips as she lifted her glass, clearly entertained by something no one else seemed to notice.
She glanced toward the nearest person, tilting her head slightly. "Tell me, is it always this dull here, or did I just arrive at the worst possible moment?" @ggstarterblog
"It's always been dull here, you're just starting to realize it too."
"This place needs to liven up. Where's all the drama, all the scandal?"
