so i lied LMFAO it has been a crazy few months ya'll and i am sorry to leave everybody hanging! i might be pausing my decades challenge for now (amelia will be BACK) as i am now working on a custom save file!!! tbh my mental health has been in shambles and the reason you havent heard from me is bc i went to a crisis unit last month for mental health. BUT! do not fret i am okay and doing better! expect to see more posts here soon and updates about my save file and sims :)
Why is the Sims community boycotting Curseforge?
I've seen a lot of posts going around calling on Simmers to stop using Curseforge, a modding platform that enables creators to monetize their downloads, with plenty of outrage directed toward modders and CC-makers who are still on the platform. But I've also seen a lot of people who are confused about why there are calls for a boycott.
Curseforge is owned by Overwolf, a company that is donating money to the IDF in support of its ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people.
In late October/early November, Overwolf posted a graphic on their social media asking followers to "defend our defenders" by contributing financially to a fundraising drive for the IDF. They were met with backlash and quickly took the graphic down, replacing it with one that used language about raising money for "those affected by the violence in Gaza" (my phrasing may be inexact) but the money is still going to the IDF and not to any agency actually supporting civilians or doing humanitarian work.
You can see the original graphic on this change.org petition, which provides some additional context.
If you are using Curseforge in any way -- by hosting your content there or downloading from it -- you are giving money to a company that is raising funds for an ongoing military campaign against a civilian population.
This is why people are calling for a boycott. If you are a modder or CC maker for the Sims, you should remove all of your content from the website and redirect people to other DL sources. If you are a consumer of mods and CC, you should stop clicking curseforge links and send (polite!) messages to modders and CC makers to urge them to pull their content from the site.

So Curseforge/Overwatch put out a statement about this, addressed specifically to simmers.
Even if we decide to take them 100% at face value (which I don't think we should) and accept their claim that none of their corprate revenue goes to "defend our defenders," (their original claim) and only to help "terror-affected families" with housing...is any of this funding going to support the hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians? I'd say people living in refugee camps because their homes were bombed to matchsticks because some of their neighbors were maybe allegedly supposedly aligned in some vague with Hamas are pretty "terror-affected." Are they eligible to receive any of this aid, or just Israelis?
There's no word on the website, but considering that the other major donor listed on equal footing with Overwolf is the Israeli Leadership Forum, which states on its English-language "About Us" page that it is a platform for those who consider "the advancement of Israeli society....as their mission," it seems fair to say that this group and donation drive have broadly settler-colonialist aims.
So. My original post was not 100% accurate in all the details, I'm willing to own that. Mea culpa, I'm a random guy on the internet who tried to make a post to summarize a lot of discussion that had been happening in a lot of different places, and I didn't do any investigative journalism to verify those claims (see above: random guy n the internet).
I still think that boycotting Overwolf and their products is a good, simple step to oppose Zionism. Using Curseforge (and other Overwolf products) still fuels the bottom line of a Zionism organization which aligns itself with other Zionism organizations. Vote with your feet and don't use these products.
If they're releasing corporate statements to try to dispel concerns over a consumer boycott, it means it's working.
p.s. Do not harass people. I think my original post was pretty clear in terms of calls to action, but I'll say it explicitly: sending hateful messages, spamming people's inboxes, etc. is not an effective tactic here. Polite communication to register your objections, followed by withdrawing your financial support is a much better strategy for effecting change.

"Mazel tov, Francis," one of his pals from the gang congratulates while playing some pool. "You're a man now- just don't go thinking you're the bee's knees just 'cause your sister's our boss!"
Francis just chuckles and shakes his head. "Baloney, Henry. I'm a respectable fellow. Though, it is quite tough to not gloat to you boys. Spending your youth being picked on by a bunch of thugs, only to end up as their leader? Well, a man cannot help but indulge in poking fun."
"You'll have to get a bit of hair on your chest before we start taking orders, bub," a fellow named Jack quips.
The men erupt in laughter. Francis laughs along with them, but he cannot wait to really show them what he is made of.
"How's that bearcat of yours, boy?" Henry asks. "She's a real thrill, huh? Broads don't tend to have much of a use doing business, but this girl's got it. And I am not just talking of charisma! Must be a good lay- that is, if you have even lost your cherry!"
The other men laugh again. Francis tries not to appear defensive to their crude comments on Evelyn and their intimacy. He does not want to look soft, it is imperative these fellows see him a man.
"What am I, some dainty doll?" Francis jokes. "I keep what I covet, and I take what is mine. I must please a woman quite wonderfully if she is content with me as the only man in her life. The only dames that hang off your shoulders are tramps, knucklehead."
The other men slap their knees and give Henry a teasing nudge.
"In my pal's defense, the last thing men like us need is a ball and chain," Jack says pointedly. "A woman shouldn't be dragged into this business, it is our duty as men to protect the weak. You are going to break the poor girl's heart or turn her into somebody like your sister."
Francis raises an eyebrow. "What is so wrong about that?"
Jack, trying to avoid Amelia's wrath, says, "Do not get me wrong, friend. Amelia's a fine lady who knows what she is doing. She is just not suitable to be a wife. Hell, she'd tell you that herself. Tread carefully with a headstrong woman, they'll turn you into a weak man if you do not put them in their place from time to time."
The conversation goes into another topic. While the other men jest about their different sexual conquests, Francis starts to get into his own mind. Amelia has always told him to treat a woman with the respect that one would give a man, and he tries to do so with many women in his life.
But what if the other men are right? And what if they start to respect him less for not being assertive with his woman?

In late Summer, Zelda finished her collection of poems titled Songs from New Orleans. She sent it to a local publisher, where it had some success and began to earn the family a small portion of royalties.
They decided to use the profits to adopt a mini sheep that they named Gumbo and a particularly mischievous looking goat named Rou (short for Rougarou). Zelda spends moments when she’s not making nectar looking after them, and little Miss Violette has grown particularly fond of cuddling with Gumbo after school 🥹

AJ and Dolores have been going steady for quite some time. Things have been getting more intimate between the two as they grow older, but AJ has been hesitant to consummate their relationship. It is not just the fact that they are not yet married. If AJ is honest with himself- he thinks there may be something wrong with him. His peers at school talk of intimacy with ladies as if it the most exciting thing to experience, and while kisses and touches ellicit a physical reaction from him, the intimacy feels more like a chore AJ must complete in order to keep his girl happy.
The thought makes him feel guilt, especially now that Dolores is sitting on his bed with her blouse off. It is not like he doesn't love Dolores- he enjoys spending his time with her, and that is what love is, right?
"What is the matter?" Dolores asks, breaking AJ's train of thought. "Do you not like how I look?"
AJ fervently shakes his head. "I apologize, I am just nervous about the ordeal, that is all," he lies. "Do not fret- you look beautiful."
Before the girl can ask anymore questions, he climbs on top of her and captures her lips in his. AJ is being ridiculous- he needs to get over these silly thoughts. What kind of man would he be if he cannot bring himself to make love to the woman who very well might end up being his wife?
AJ wants the all-American dream for himself. A heroic cop with a pretty wife and beautiful children; that is who he wants to be. A provider. And if he has to shove down all of the mixed feelings of intimacy he has to provide, that is what he shall do.

They know what they are getting into, Amelia thinks to herself haughtily.
She does not think of the Big Sleep often; she thinks worrying oneself with such silly thoughts makes a person stupid. But when she gives herself the chance to think of herself dying in such a way- well, Amelia cannot help but feel disappointed.
Does Amelia fear death? Not really. In fact, the thought of dying seems a hell of a lot more peaceful than whatever she's got going on right now. However, the thought of being forgotten truly does strike a primal fear in her heart.
What makes somebody worth mentioning years after they are gone?
Amelia just wants to be remembered.

Today in the Alternate Darlington Universe the watcher learned that Cowpoke Dance is an awful lot of unsynchronized leg kicking and hip shaking. Or perhaps these ex-city slickers just don’t know how to Boot Scoot quite right (but with the right musical vibes it’s a whole lot better).
One thing is for sure, a few strong beers will make your boot scootin’ look better. They’ll certainly make our two favs more flirtatious after a full sim week of nothing but cleaning horse stalls and nectar making.
But with all respects to Antoine, the award for suavest sim in the room may have to go to Valcita. She and Jo quickly abandoned boot scootin’ to dance a little closer to one another, causing the watcher to swiftly fall in love with them and abandon all her plans in another universe (👀).
But would it even be a night out if some liquid courage didn't convince you to take the stage with your best friend and sing some boot scootin' tunes of your own?
Luckily for Zelda, she still has level ten singing skill from her adventures in another life; and what Josephine lacks in skill, she makes up for in bravado. Judging from Antoine's expression, listening to Zelda’s singing is something that will never get old, even across decades and worlds.

A deeper look: 1865 Ethel Pence
If you haven't read it already, here is the post in which we see this portrait.
I had soo much fun dressing her up, and I can't believe how pretty she is!! Like pheww elmer we see where those good looks come from ... 😳 I was really sad it didn't fit into the texture so I had to mention it in the description, but if you look at the top you can see 'John C.' 's signature and the date it was painted! C. is for Calvert, and I briefly mention him in this post when going in depth into Ethel and Henry's lives, but who knows - maybe he'll appear later on *wink wink*
Ethel was born in 1848 (she's 2 years older than henry!) and so she would've been 17 here. She wasn't a pence yet, and I don't have a maiden name set out for her at this time but the two would've met towards the late 1860's, having had Elmer in 1871.
Blue and green have always been my go to colours for ethel, she just looks so gorgeous in those lighter tones and I adore the bonnet she's wearing here 🥰 she's quite a tragic character actually haha and I realize I never went to in depth into her unborn son - whom leroy was named after - rest assured there may be some future content on that ... whoo knowsss ...
