Our fierce protector returns! So glad he made a comeback. Still one of my favorite characters.
Well, Itās been a while, but Iāve definitely still been doing things behind the scenes. Seeing as I donāt have a VR headset to play Alyx on, much as Iād like to, I thought Iād at least make a tribute to one of my favorite models - or, rather, lack of one. Iām left wondering if they intentionally included it in the promotional image or not.
Still a little rough around the edges while I figure out how I want to make it, but as a test piece, I think it turned out okay! Not quite the disembodied text it is in-game, but probably unavoidable if I want to have it light up at this size.Ā
Energy Sword Sunday with a very special guest! Look at him go!
Well, with the release of the first title of the Master Chief Collection on the PC, it seems that Energy Sword Sunday will return once more.
Iāll be at Phoenix Fan Fusion today - feel free to flag me down and have a chat if you wish, Iāll be bringing these pieces along!
Thatās just about it for the top of this, time to move on to the rest. Going to be a challenge to get it to meet smoothly with the rest while still being removable, but thatās half the fun, right?
I havenāt done organics modeling like this in quite a while - getting used to it all over again, so pretty rough model for now. Side project while the Caledfwlch rework is printing; I also hope to have this done by the end of next week, but weāll see how it goes.
I havenāt forgotten - just been very busy. More soon, and to be finished within the next two weeks.
A few days after the actual day and event, but a milestone nevertheless - thanks for the support so far!
I think Iāve gotten to a point where I can call this versionĀ āfinishedā. Hereās all the parts, printed and assembled (and badly photographed white-on-white...), as well as split into their individual components. Thereās no scale reference here so itās difficult to tell, but the overall length is nearly four feet total.Ā The size limitation meant I had to figure out a way to assemble them once they were printed - looks like magnets wasnāt the way to go for this project (at least, the ones I chose). While it seemed like a good idea at the time and works pretty well for the pommel and spikes, they were too low strength for the blade and guard areas.
Overall, a fun learning experience, and Iām very much looking forward to making the next one a presentable V2 model.
So which did you first choose? Meat or candy, John?
Meat or candy?
It appears I have made a... hmm. "mistake" seems like too strong of a word here, so let's go with "slight error in calculation" when figuring out exactly how big this thing will be when I'm done. Looks like this means I now have a neat piece to hang on my wall when I finish putting it together, though! Final assembly soon.
4/13 came and went. The Prologue to the Epilogue was quite a way to celebrate; looking forward to the rest of it. Once more, Happy 413, and letās see what the next decade brings. Cheers.
Well, looks like the actual prints take far more time than was estimated so unfortunately I wonāt have this done in time for 413 (at least, in all timezones). This is by far the biggest print Iāve ever done, bar none. Still, that certainly isnāt going to stop me from finishing this. Thereās a few other ideas I want to explore as well, now that Iāve finally done something of this calibre.
Still- Happy 413, all, and hereās to another 10 years! That Skaianet Systems timerās got to run out eventually, after all.
Epilogue
Well, that was... brief. Interested to see where it will go from here, and how long it will last. A decade later and they still manage to make things intriguing.Ā
Piece by piece, itās coming together...Ā
This is getting to be quite the project. More materials arriving tomorrow, looking forward to installing them in here.
Well, that was a (much) longer pause than I had anticipated - oops.
Letās see if I can get this done in time for next week, eh?
