SEND ME ON MY WAY
the sweet little shin kiss is so dear to me
After finally watching the movie and reading half of the book I now can start drawing my new obsession :D
I did this little drawing for my mom since she like the movie a lot too, but here it is.
full thing on 🦋

Jack knows that loving Robby---daring to confess his love for Robby--isn't enough to save him. Jack's been around too long, has seen too much, to think love is enough. If it were, there'd have been loved ones after loved ones with happier endings in the ED. Pills not taken. Weapons not discharged. Families intact. But Jack also knows he can show up. He can help. Robby never has to ask, would never ask, (doesn't even see his own needs), but now that Jack's really paying attention, he does whatever he can to ease Robby's burdens, so all Robby has to focus on is the excruciating work of healing.
Robby's got a bunch of potted plants that are unattended and wilting. Jack lets himself into Robby's condo one afternoon while Robby's working and waters them. While he's there, he takes out the trash. The next week--because he's decided he's going to keep it up--he decides to throw in a load of laundry from Robby's overflowing laundry basket. Then decides he might as well do that every week, too.
It's easy enough to arrange a grocery delivery time for Jack's visits, which also coincide with Robby's therapy days. Healthy, low-prep food. Fruit. Fresh soups. Just a few things that Jack thinks Robby will eat, and really, anything has to be better than the granola bars and take-out Robby typically subsists on. Jack stashes disposable plates and bowls and silverware on Robby's kitchen counter, so Robby doesn't have to worry about dishes.
He makes Robby's bed, turning down the corner of Robby's bedspread and leaving a water bottle on his nightstand. None of it feels like enough, but it's something.
Jack's visits go unmentioned for months, the routine second nature by the time Robby pulls him aside at handoff one night in mid-November. "I'll be home from therapy by five on Thursday. You can stay if you want. Eat some of the food you're overbuying for me."
Cheeks flushing at the acknowledgment of what's gone unacknowledged until now, and chest warming at the invite, Jack nods. He heads to Robby's that afternoon, makes sure there's food for two, and he stays.
totally correct project hail mary quotes that are definitely real
Starving in space but at least Rocky is there.
Captains log: Bloodymary concept #249
I can't stop thinking about the Hail Mary actually having a bunch of vacuumed packed seeds on board for potential research purposes in case the crew actually did finish their mission but not enough resources on board to grow more than a few pots of small things.
And then Grace and Rocky get to Erid years later and the big problem is making the soil able to grow earth plants rather than figuring out an eridian made human food source and so they do figure it out and Grace helps a ton but once that's finished all that's left is the actual gardening and Grace HATESSS gardening 😭😭😭😭
Like maybe the work is too slow and too repetitive for him idk it's a chore like laundry or dishes rather than something he looks forward to.
And Simon notices that he leaves twice at the same time almost every day once in the morning where he looks excited (he's going to teach class) and once after lunch where he looks a little annoyed (he's going to check on the gardens)
And Simon is like okay where r u going and grace tells him and shows him the gardens and it's obviously mind blowing to Simon having only seen some greenhouses on Mars and the last tree. He gets SO invested in gardening the repetitive and physical work is GOOD for him and he loves it and it becomes his big role on Erid. He is THE local human gardener. And he finally feels like he can do something for Grace in return 😭😭😭😭 and it happens to be something that has a big role in healing him being able to create smth rather than destroy it but I gotta go
Project Hail Mary (2026) // For Your Own Good, Leah Horlick
Rocky and Grace are yelling at each other. Rocky stops mid argument to demand that Grace put on his angry eyebrows. Grace immediately stomps to the whiteboard, stomps back over with the dry erase marker, draws angry eyebrows on the xenonite ball. the argument continues
You’re in the danger zone BUDDY
No one owes artists anything.
But existence is lonely and sometime you throw hours and hours of effort into a void, on the slim chance it will say something back.
