underrated part of the season 2 script drop that nobody's talking about enough is mel's interaction with liam before she's pushed to the floor.

because what was the point of including liam the criminal and introducing the ideas of not just independence but romance to mel's life (when work "keeps her busy") just to follow up immediately with frank taking care of her and being vulnerable with her. and its 8 am.

re: off annie’s @divorcedfranklangdon script read through. the ‘she offers a high five, he offers a fist. they adjust to each other’ is so important (getting out my tinfoil hat and clown outfits.) mel’s had to adjust to everything around her. there is no compromise. her parents die, she becomes becca’s sole care taker, she moves to the pitt cause its near her sister’s facility and she’s been in, taylor’s words, ‘alone for so long’ through no fault of her own.

but here comes this senior resident who tells her she’s doing okay, that ‘she’s making a great first impression’, he wants to sit, watch fireworks with her. he shows her kindness. he wants to get to know her (why she moves to the pitt, tries to make jokes that’ll land —and they do! spends minutes talking to her when he could’ve gone home to his wife and kids, understands that she’s sensitive but doesn’t see it as a weakness). he asks about her sister, cares and respects her sister and makes her feel comfortable in a way she likes (lights off, no noise. he’s only met her twice and she mentioned this ten months ago!)

for once, something—someone—is adjusting to her.

it was cut for all the right reasons but my god is it everything i love about this dynamic
