A Heart of Ashes and Cinders AU

~A Next Generation AU set in a YA novel based Ever After. War, death, and misery haunt the new students of Ever After High. Among them, the young daughter of Ashlynn Ella and Hunter Huntsman desires to carve out her own destiny.

Ebony Truths and Ivory Lies

-Apple White was trained to perfection to be the next Snow White, Raven Queen is hesitant about being the next Evil Queen, and Margarine Muffin always thought there was something missing from her life.

Their lives turned upside down during Legacy Day.

Legacy Stained in Ink

-Raven Queen signed the Storybook of Legends, followed her destiny, and gave Apple exactly what she wanted. Only she wasn't about to let her friends suffer. Except actions have consequences, some spells can't be undone, and wishes don't come for free. But this story isn't just about them, it's about their children. Their Legacy Year looms over them, forcing them to make a choice.

Will they follow fate or defy it?

The Rose and Her Thorn

-When a modern soul is transported into Ever After, she ends up in the body of Nettle Beauty, twin sister to Briar. Realizing that her sister is destined to sleep for a hundred years, Nettle is determined to keep her safe even if it means rebelling against the fairy tale dystopia of cruel destinies, crowns, and villains.

Nettle will be the thorn to Briar’s rose.

Dahlia in Ever After

(I don't need another bad end next gen au, I already have several,idon'tneedanotherbadendnextgenau-

*Gets hit in the head with an AU idea brick that has incapacitated me for the last few weeks*

*coughs* I'm fine)

One flick of her wrist, one signature, and Raven Queen’s fate was sealed in black ink. She just wasn’t strong enough, wasn’t brave enough, she couldn't go against destiny (go against Ever After).

Only she wouldn't allow the same fate to fall on her child.

After months of searching, The young Evil Queen found a solution, she discovered a place without magic. A strange place where no one, not destiny, not Headmaster Grimm, not even Apple Snow White could reach them. Raven fled to this odd land and left Ever After behind forever.

Except that's not where the story truly ends.

No, it begins when her teenage daughter, Dahlia, finds herself lost in Ever After, the world her mother tried to hide her from.

But Dahlia is not an Alice, Ever After is no Wonderland, and queens beheading people are the least of the girl's problems.

I heard it before I saw it. It came over the speakers of a store I was in before I realized what it was.

The bickering of the Narrators made me laugh. Names of characters I never knew but I had to learn more. Trying to cram all of the adventure, excitement, and plot into one message, one advertisement to get a young girl hooked.

It hooked me.

I knew about Monster High, I'd watched the episodes on their website over and over again.

But Ever After High? It was different.

The dolls, the webisodes, the books, the theme song.

I was always a fairy tale kid. Sisters Grimm, A Tale Dark and Grimm, The Land of Stories, The School For Good and Evil, Once Upon a Time, even the Cinder series.

But Ever After High stuck with me and continues to be apart of me.

It changed my life.

I cheered when Raven defied her destiny.

I awwed at Ashlynn and Hunter bravely revealing their secret relationship.

I gasped when Briar threw the storybook of legends down the well.

I gasped (again) when Darling kissed Apple awake (And this was BEFORE Adora and Catra)

I shouted "I knew it!" at the screen when Daring was transformed into a beast.

And I smiled as well as giggled at Madeline's wonderlandiful spirit. (she's my profile for a reason).

From Legacy Day, Thronecoming, Spring Unsprung, Way Too Wonderland, Dragon Games, all the way to Epic Winter.

I started writing my Ever After High Next Generation series back in 2020, I was reading Ever After High fanfics even before then and falling in love with the community.

Even though the story is incomplete, there are some tales that should have been told, and there are more than a few blank pages left in the book, but like they say...

The End is just the beginning

For the 2026 edition of Legacy Stained in Ink (or if you’re a long time fan, Class of Future Tales), I have decided to dedicate a whole side blog to it! This means that all posts, asks, and updates for the fic will be on the new side blog rather than this one!

You are not required to read the previous fics or know anything about the series to understand anything about this one.

Shout out to @agoraphcbja and his EAH Next Gen fic Silver and Gold @sillverandgold for inspiring a lot of the ideas that will be going into this edition.

I’ll have the sideblog up and running soon but for now here’s a sneak peak into the synopsis!

Introducing this new fic idea I’ve had in my head for a while; The Rose and Her Thorn. It is about a modern day isekaied soul who is born into the world of Ever After High as Nettle Beauty. Obviously, Nettle isn’t going to just go along with the destiny lies Headmaster Grimm is spreading and she certainly isn’t about to let her sister go into a downward party spiral because of it.

Nettle will not wait for Raven to start the rebellion, she will do it herself.

Sparking the flames of rebellion may just create a whole new story, one that might not have a happily ever after.

Am I going to regret about to turn Ever After into the most angsty YA dystopia society straight out of the Hunger Games or Divergent? Probably.

Am I going to enjoy writing the teenage daughter of Ashlynn and Hunter taking a literal axe to her destiny and anyone who stands in her way? Oh yes definitely.

Random thought that popped into my head: how did the sons and daughters of the original generation take having destinies as well as their parents?

How did Snow White’s daughter react having to be poisoned like her mother was? She’s heard stories about the Evil Queen directly from her mother. Would she have been terrified at the very thought of having to go through what her mother did?

What about Sleeping Beauty’s daughter who’d be sleeping 100 years? Leaving behind family, a sister/brother whose line would eventually become Beauty and the Beast.

Red riding hood who’d been warned about not straying in the woods now expects her child go off the path and get eaten for destiny.

Pinocchio witnessing horrors now has to put his wooden child through the same hells just for them to become a real boy/girl.

Cinderella having gone through her stepfamily’s abuse and is now forced to watch as her child endures the same pain she did.

Did they even know they’d be doing this generations? That their great grandchildren would have go through it? That destiny would be romanticized to be this great honor in Ever After?

What did they really know when they signed their names in the storybook of legends?

Blood Red Apple AU

In honor of the spooky season and inspired by Neil Gaiman’s Snow, Glass, Apples novel, I came up with this AU.

What if Apple White was born a vampire?

So Queen Diane White has a swift affair with a stranger, a strange yet charismatic man from a land far, far away. She doesn’t think anything of it until her daughter is born.

Her skin was pale, too pale even for a future Snow White, her teeth a little too sharp, and her hair blonde, not black like hers. King Charming was none the wiser, happily holding their newborn daughter. As the kingdom celebrates for the birth of the future Snow White and the weeks pass, Diane noticed odd things about her child.

The White princess screeched whenever the sunlight came through her nursery’s windows, she’d bite too hard when nursing, and her stare was unnerving like she knew something no one else knew.

When she learned to crawl, that’s when the real nightmares began. Vanishing in the middle of the night, being found in the darkest of rooms, and terrifying the servants by crawling on the walls. One of the nursemaids screamed when she found the princess nibbling on the bits of a squirrel in her crib, its bushy tail sticking out of her mouth.

At the age of six, Apple White was responsible for the deaths of several royal mares, drained of their blood. Diane never understood how she got into the stables, but she had servants make sure it was locked up tight and guarded before the sun went down.

Diane kept it all hushed up and made sure the servants stayed quiet. Her husband was always away on royal business that he wasn’t even aware much the servants were afraid of the little girl he eagerly greeted everytime he returned home.

Diane should have never left her husband alone with that thing.

One sunrise, her husband was found dead. Drained of his blood and reduced to nothing. He wasn’t even a corpse, but a husk of dead flesh and bone.

The Queen could not let this creature out, so she castle schooled her. She forbade any interaction with the princess other than herself and kept her locked up in the White Castle. She lied, wanting to keep her precious Apple safe, to protect her daughter from whoever killed her husband. Except nothing she did was to protect Apple, but to protect others. Diane began to dread as the years went on and the creature wearing her daughter’s skin became smarter. It liked to taunt her, mock her with that innocent face and blue doe like eyes. But she knew better, she knew not to let her guard down around that demon.

Then Headmaster Grimm had to come, requesting that Apple White to come to Ever After High for her Legacy Year. It was mandatory for all students to attend their Legacy Year in person. She almost revealed the truth, but she couldn’t. Headmaster Grimm couldn’t know what she had done, what that creature lurking around the castle had done.

Diane White watched from her castle window, looking down at the royal carriage and the young princess.

As she departed for Ever After High, Apple White made sure to give her mother a blood red smile.
