He was in the middle of rambling when he heard his dad call his name. ‘‘Yeah, sure. No problem. Dad’s calling me anyways so I gotta go. I’ll call you after dinner.’‘ Stiles hung up and made his way downstairs. He actually had to clean up before getting started on dinner and rolled his eyes at his dad as he made his way down the stairs. ‘‘Yeah, pop’s, I know. Clean the kitchen. Scott’s coming later.’‘ 

He couldn’t wait. It took everything within not to bounce and make a noise, or anything that would let Stiles know what was going on. “Okay. Love you.” he hummed, before quieting down and waiting. The sulking coming from Stiles was exactly how he expected it, and he moved the second Stiles came into the kitchen. Sheriff kept boys attention on him,  which gave Scott the chance to cover other’s eyes and-- place a little smooch on the back of his neck. “Guess who.”

“6 hours or so.” he mussed, hand going up to rub at his face. scott managed to sound completely miserable, while lying through his teeth. he was already in the state. city. Stiles’ back yard and finally kitchen. he was plotting this surprise with papa Stilinski for days, in order to stun Stiles (hopefully he wont be hit with a bat in the process). and somehow, it worked. “listen, I have to hang up-- bathroom. talk soon?” hanging up swiftly, Scott stuffed the phone into his back pocket and slid behind the door, after winking at Noah, who hollered at Stiles to ‘get his butt downstairs and help clean the kitchen before their guest arrived.’ this was brilliant. he was ready to jump at the other the second he came downstairs.

You’re not in love but, sometimes, he fucking smiles at you just like that and you realize that you don’t see him smiling enough but every time you do it’s like the clouds are parting and making way for the sun and you’ve never seen anything so fucking beautiful in your entire life. You’re not in love and you don’t tell him that but, sometimes, it must show anyway because he reaches out for you without thinking twice about the weight of his hand on your arm and without fear that you’ll pull away. You’re not in love. (That never fooled him anyway.)
