Experimenting a bit between zoom calls. Feedback encouraged/appreciated! I am trying to move away from my pattern of everyone I draw having the same facial proportions as me but it is an uphill battle...
anatomy practice / stress relief / vintage swimsuits / the beach episode we were denied???? / backgrounds don’t exist, as far as I’m concerned
On second thought, maybe Ed acquired tattoos on his travels??
Compelling reasons why Ed should have tattoos:
It’s hot
He loves gaudy things
He might be into the concept of body modification as a result of conscious, active choice instead of life-threatening injury
Also Ed’s hair remains and will remain the exception to my enthusiasm for period-appropriate clothing, because honestly who would he be with short hair

In their twenties in the twenties babyyyy
and yes Winry did get a haircut she is a modern woman
Did this commission for @artemis.x.wally on instagram and thought it’d be cool to compare it to the very first spitfire drawing I ever posted, back in November 2012 (I’m so old!!! I’ve been here too long omg). Interesting to see what things have changed and what things are similar.
Also I didn’t have the old drawing in mind when doing the new one - I think the pose has just been lurking in the back of my mind, biding its time, waiting to rise again...
feels like years since I put ink to paper
“I’m thinking of” Ed and Win maybe :0
Black Canary in give you up? Also how dare you rick roll us
I did it to keep you humble

I was tasked with illustrating @icanhearyouglaring‘s amazing spy fic and this is the first illustration I did! you can find the fic here, and you should all read it and also leave adoring comments because.. we love a spy fic, folks.

A little late, but what are you gonna do.
redraw of this old piece from about six years ago. how the time flies!!!
anyway enjoy the wheezies, circa goblet of fire
So obviously I have lost my mind.
Some points of interest:
I don’t really understand how underwear worked at this time?? Not a lot of references/confusing information. So this might be a little ~avant garde~ for the era but Ed is all about progress, right?
Previously I’ve drawn him in Chelsea boots but upon closer inspection it turns out he’s canonically wearing harness boots (most of the time??? anyway???) so I’ve adjusted accordingly
Went for suspenders instead of a belt because suspenders were a little more common at the time and also... I love them
The coat is a duster coat, which came into fashion after motorcars became a thing, to protect people’s clothes from the dust they kicked up. Typically they were light in colour, but Ed... is not known for his refined taste
Generally, he’s sort of dressed to the nines in an attempt to inspire some respect, although the effect in reality is pretty humourous because he just looks like a child running around in a grown gentleman’s clothes
People of the era would have always worn hats when out and about, but I feel like Ed probably finds hats annoying (or at least, I find them annoying to draw and his hair is so nice and fun on it’s own)
There’s no symbol on the back of the duster, but if you look closely you’ll see it pinned to the lapel of his suit
His clothes (especially his pants) fit a little looser than a gentleman of the time would have worn them, but our boy needs room to move and traditional fabrics are not known for their stretch
