So here’s my thoughts about everything we’ve heard so far:

Yes yesterday it sounded terrible to me, and today it has messed my head up a bit. I’ve had many conflicting thoughts but all in all, I think I’d like to know more.

As a person who has suffered SA in the past, it’s hard for me to get my head around. Obviously the victims should be believed and I know NG definitely isn’t an angel, but I think telling him to get bent and kill himself is a step too far.

Yes he’s obviously made mistakes, but he isn’t a god by any means. Nobody should put him on a pedestal. He’s a human being like the rest of us and he fucks up. It’s not about liking the art not the artist, it’s about seeing the wood from the trees and realising celebrities for all their “stardom” are just as human as we are.

We’ve only heard one side of the story so far, from what could be deemed as a quite unreliable source. It’s Boris Johnson’s sister who wrote the article for fucks sake.

I’m sad for the victims and anyone reading any of these posts like this one, that is having past trauma dredged up, it’s awful. Like I said, I’ve had a bit of a bad day of it myself.

But please, please don’t let anything that you’ve heard or read, deter you from watching your favourite shows or reading your favourite books. If they bring you comfort, that’s all that really matters.

So y’all know the classic edge trope of “my blade cannot be sheathed until it has tasted blood”? What if a magic sword that has that requirement, except it’s sort of inverted. A sword that, instead of being inhabited by an evil spirit which once awakened cannot be lulled back to sleep except by blood sacrifice, was inhabited by a benevolent spirit who would not allow the sword to be drawn unless bloodshed were the only possible solution. A sword whose power could never be misused because it would only allow itself to be used in situations where it was justified. What about a Paladin who spends their entire journey fighting with a sheathed sword, incapacitating but never killing or maiming. The party believes that the Paladin has taken an oath of no killing, until they face the big villain. And it is in that moment, and that moment alone, that the sword will allow itself to be drawn.

I haven't seen this circulating here on Tumblr, so I decided to make my own post.

last saturday, in Porto, there was a pride parade going down the street and this old man was standing there, by his front door, waving the portuguese flag. most people on the parade probably thought the same: old person waving the national flag? he's probably protesting against the parade, he's a nationalist of some sort.

then the old man called for that person to come near him. the whole parade stopped. everyone just.. stopped moving. they didn't know what to expect, and most expected the worst. and that person decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and approached the old man. and then... they traded flags, he hugged the person and then he waved the pride flag happily. everyone cheered him.

The vibe I get is that as much as Pratchett hated hereditary monarchy, he did love the fairytale concept of nobility, so he’d have a bunch of characters who fill the role of good and noble royalty before he’d stop the plot and go “But they aren’t the king because of herrydeterry. First off, you are allowed to have an opinion about poetry, but I'm going to point out what you appear to have missed. Secondly, I am nonbinary and this is my poem. I wrote it to represent how it sometimes feels being nonbinary in a hostile environment. I don't appreciate being told there's an issue with how things resonate with me or the others who have shared this post. In future, I would recommend you be kinder in your phrasing.

The werewolf has not harmed anyone. The werewolf's apparent only crime is living in the town. There is no evidence or past experience that any werewolves - or the men and wolves in the town - have ever actually hurt anyone. No mangling or killing, and no intention to do so. He just lives there, and apparently has for some time without issue. The townsperson who has approached the speaker refuses to admit this in as many words, but that is literally the text. If there was evidence of harm, it would have been provided when the speaker asked, "has he actually done anything wrong?"

I am a trans person living in the UK. The media and transphobes treat trans people of all kinds like they are predators ready to mutilate and defile children as though there is any evidence of it, when in fact there is absolutely none. And a significant portion of the public, who perhaps don't consider themselves to be transphobic - or at least, would never admit it - believe what they are being told. That is the analogy.

The werewolf isn't the issue here.
