someone does not like having his ear drums busted. but who does? ( that’s probably a kink thing. ) Howard releases the mask && then reaches both arms over his shoulder, grabbing Miku by anything that stays firm between his fingers. he doubles over, trying to sling the other off of him with the momentum && then by bucking similar to how a horse would.

in any verse, Howard has struggled with intense hatred of himself & having issues that push him to the point that he feels as though he has no options other than venting + relieving stress by inflicting some type of harm upon himself. it started as simply scratching his arms & legs, concealing it with the proper clothes, & then it moved onto stress “”itching”. he claimed his skin was just irritated.

& then he took knives to his skin, & he had to start making sure he wore something to hide it every time it was even somewhat visible. it becomes a regular occurrence in his late teens to mid twenties.

there is not even a second’s hesitation between Miku’s scream ringing out && Howard making an attempt at bucking them off as a show horse would. when the other’s grip only tightens, something akin to panic latches onto him as well; one hand covers his ear && the other reaches up && over to try grabbing hair, face—ANYTHING to fight back.

For a brief moment he watches, taking in the pale fur the person has like his mama. It’s flat, not wiggly, and his eyes don’t seem as bright, either. But he’s lowered himself to get a better look at him, and Umbra can’t sense anything wrong or dangerous about him.

Then the puppy remembers what he himself wants (besides the safety of his mama), and wiggles in preparation. He pushes off his front paws and perches on the man’s knees, ears aimed forward and stubby tail wagging furiously.

the way Umbra pounces startles Howard, but he keeps his balance && doesn’t make any immediate attempts to usher the puppy off of him. instead, he briefly glances around, making sure no one is nearby to see him, && then proceeds to softly pet the animal’s head.

“it can’t hurt to wait with you,” the CROW says to himself softly, allowing the smallest of smiles. he speaks specifically to the dog now, a hint of playfulness in his voice already, “and what do you want to do while we wait, baby?”

a glance is cast back to the other && Howard nods his head. “yes, very good,” he praises Esen, “you can come right along behind me with the mop after i sweep, and then we can move onto re-painting the cabinets inside the kitchen. does that sound good?”

They’re silent as they knock before opening the door, the smell of roses, peppermint, and some kind of cookie drift into the room. Blue eyes look to Howard. Miku’s already in their pajamas, a long nightgown and it’s matching robe. ❝ I didn’t see you eat earlier.. ❞

Howard is startled just a bit by the knock && the following entrance, looking over to find Miku there. he blinks, reaching a hand up quickly to rub at his eyes to make sure he is not imagining or seeing things.

“you—you what?” the inspector asks, staring at them now with a bit of a confused expression. “i... i just was not hungry. it’s quite... alright....” his gaze proceeds to drift lower to the plate bearing the source of that lovely smell, watching it rather than Miku now.
