I don’t think the English translators like book 7 either which is pretty great, the changed the line about Kvasir getting bigger boobs to becoming beautiful and now they cut out a whole sentence in Groa’s 40 where she says she’s your daughter. Based based based based based if no one’s got me I know the English translators got me
You don’t understand how much this pisses me off I LOVE the world building it’s fascinating Sothis is a really neat character and she’s just a plot device to power up Byleth, and the world? Just a slapped on background to have tea and be sad about school over. In a better game Byleth would slowly turn into Sothis overtime losing themselves, they’d have to cope with that stone being the only thing keeping them alive so they can either take it out and die as themselves or become the god who will save the world losing their individuality and what made them them in the process, Rhea and the Nabeteans would be the main focus as it’s their blood that stained this world and the trauma of having to deal with another human craving power causing either another world reset or if you need your stupid humans are good actually message working with rebels and not having the truth be a small outshoot about the bones of your kin do some Tales series twist if you are going to build a deeper world and do literally nothing with it
3H wants to be Persona without any of the deeper theming and god it shows. Persona 3 killed their main protagonist Persona keeps with its themes 3H can’t even kill off Byleth after losing the very thing keeping them alive, why?
That’s why I like Engage I don’t think FE is story heavy enough to be deep and that’s okay but every single time FE has tried to be less shallow than silly strategy game they failed. Fates is great but subtle and had its script ripped into pieces because there was too much going on. Awakening has a plot and loses it half way through the game because at its core it’s just a last hoorah for the series so every trope is put in (big Grima fan and he makes no sense in the world building either at least Echoes kinda fit him in) Tellius is the best world building FE had and even they botch things every once in a while with the blood pact and other things that stand out because you can’t be much deeper you have a strategy game to play each chapter a short little section. Gaiden was solid enough but once Echoes tried to expand the world building it failed because of so many contradictions when Gaiden worked the way it was. A simple world and a simple story and that’s nothing wrong with that. That’s what FE should stay as if it’s hell bent on staying in the format it’s made. Engage worked it knew what it was and it told its story knowing the format it had. Same with Marth’s story the one that started it all. Thats not to say you can do some deeper themes like FE4 but it knew what was important and the theming didn’t contradict the world.
And nothing shows how bad this format is as 3H an example of what NOT to do with your world building Fodlan is a mess, Dagda looks like it’s going to be another mess because they refuse to commit to their world! And I full believe the reason they refuse is yes it will paint Edelgard in the wrong but also whoever writes this has no idea how to push their themes and message. The theme is humanity good we don’t need gods? Okay. Then don’t…have a god assisting you, actually beat the gods as powerless humans without divine aide but you can’t even do that. Twice now. (A bunch more times if you count heroes but I don’t really call that a plot and Rune’s I want to see humans beat up gods while being helped by gods the game is selling is objectively hilarious) is FW going to be another attempt at that message? Another misuse of Sothis but hey you see her adult form now! Look it’s Sothis! She still does nothing btw but you saw her isn’t she cool!!! I’m baffled how anyone can call 3H good writing, it fakes being good but if you look at it above surface level it falls apart immediately. Imagine if Tellius just decided all the discrimination didn’t matter and sent Ike to school bonus black knight really likes sweets, if Symphonia decided crest stones were the real problem and not the humans peddling them and using elves to do so. Hell if Pokemon decided actually the Pokemon gods are too powerful we need to kill them off after Cyrus/Archie/Maxie etc misused them for his own goals. Kyogre killed many from the rain storm it must be killed for the greater good and here’s Rayquaza to help you. Thats how bad and unfitting the message of 3H is
Yep, yep. Fire Emblem as a series...is not that deep and every time the writers try to write a "complicated" world, they fumble everything so hard. Be it Tellius's "if a Laguz and a Beorc have a baby, the Laguz loses their identity" world that muddles its anti-discrimination message, Genealogy that goes from political drama in the first half to one-dimensional "hero saves the day" story in the second half, and now Fodlan that treats its lore relevant dragon tribe as nothing but background noise and a mystery box.
When you look at how the Nabateans are written into 3H's world, it becomes apparent that they aren't considered a living part of the world. Sothis is a power-up for your avatar and a mystery box whose intrigue keeps you interested in playing, nothing else. Billy's Nabatean parts too are a mystery box and their existence as a half-human/half-Nabatean does not matter for anything. Flayn is one of your students and yet if you decide to kill her in CF, none of the other students mourn her despite having been classmates...in a game where they constantly cry about fighting former friends. Seteth in Silver Snow is your adviser and yet he doesn't interact with your students in any meaningful way outside of optional supports that offer no exploration of Fodlan's lore.
And then there is Rhea. Poor Rhea. Rhea is whatever the plot needs her to be in a specific situation. In part 1 she is a suspicious red hering because Silver Snow wanted to have its "shocking" reveal that the true antagonist is supreme leader and not her. In SS and VW, Rhea is the key to unlocking a mystery box. After she served her role, she is either still around because she is your object of desire or she is disposed off (either she is killed off offscreen or she is sent to Zanado, desolate ruins which will remind Rhea of the worst day of her life every day she wakes up, hooray?). Oh, when Silver Snow needs a final boss, Rhea also conveniently has an excuse to be one. In AM she is absent because who cares about Rhea as a person. She is not needed as a plot device here, so whatever. In CF she has to go cray cray because CF needed a cray cray villain to make Edelfart (the person who started a war of conquest, uses human experiments as attack dogs, endangered dozens of innocent people in part 1 and lies like there is no tomorrow) look heroic and good. Then there is Nopes where Rhea is absent for most of the game so that the other characters can blame her for basically everything without ever having to engage with her views. God forbid we have a confrontation of two differing opinions in these games for once. It's better for these characters to keep living in the fantasy world they created in their heads. They are fragile and wouldn't be able to handle a little bit of pushback. Ignorance is bliss. Or maybe we are blessed by this because the AM parley shows how "good" more confrontations like this would be. Oh, the one time Rhea is conveniently around in SB, Thales is also around and the two "evils" can take each other out so that Little Lady "I will sully my hand for a brighter future" can keep her hands clean.
Rhea isn't a person. She is not a character. She is narrative playdo, a malleable mass that will fit whatever hole the narrative needs fitted at that moment. And that extends to most of Fodlan's "worldbuilding". Wild Demonic Beasts? Who cares what they. They only exist for gameplay. Humans are turned into Demonic Beasts? Interesting to introduce the "what are Crests and Relics?" mystery box and afterwards neglected as a plot point. Who cares about the people who became Baldo and Waldi? Marianne's paralogue that should cause characters to overthink that maybe, just maybe, revealing the truth about Crests and Relics isn't a good idea? Nah, it just exists to "free" Marianne of her curse by stabbing the living proof of "true history" in the head. 5 years of war have ravaged Fodlan? Lol, who cares what this does to the people and the land. The 3 countries have been separated for hundreds of years? Lol, they are barely different from one another. What even is culture (except Faerghus's little bit of individuality...which is treated as bad and needs to go)? Your characters learn that their ancestors murdered dragon people? Who cares. Hopefully you, the player, are happy to have satisfied your curiosity though.
And there are so many more examples of pieces of worldbuilding (like Almyra's constant aggression, Petra's status as a hostage, 10 royal siblings going missing over night, etc.) that exist in a vacuum and cause no believable reaction to it at all. Is this good worldbuilding? Or is this even worldbuilding at all? Because this built world sure as hell doesn't impact the people and creatures living in it. Fodlan feels less like a world and more like a collection of set pieces and information necessary to facilitate whatever plot or backstory the writers want to go for, plus some bloat for the sake of making the world feel "large". The only instance of worldbuilding that actually feels natural is the tragedy of Duscur which impacted multiple characters in different ways and has long lasting consequences for the Kingdom. Other than that, Fodlan is not an organic world at all. The 10k years of lore are a lie.
And to get back to you, anon, you are right. You don't need much. Write the world of your setting large enough to get your point across. You don't need a lot of bullet points on a timeline that doesn't matter at all. You don't need big spectacles like people turning into monsters, nukes being fired and weapons made out of bones. All you need is your story and the point it's trying to make.
🍀 Grass type PokéNap! 🍀
Which grass type starter is your favourite? Mine is the lil owlet, as you already may know.... haha
This is also coming up as a mug soon!!
Everybody and their grandma has a crest in this game. Esmeralda has Blayddid's crest even though she's a commoner (same for Kai, now that I think about it, but he's a main character and the "revelation" that he's the descendant of a super important guy is just a matter of time)
If this is a sequel, either A) This is the result of Hanneman's goal of devaluing the crests by making them easily accessible to everyone (with Rhea's help? He did go to the church to accomplish this) or B) This is what Dimitri meant when he said his bloodline would carry on even if he dies in worse route cf.
3H: "Crests don't matter, you guys!"
The next game: "Many of your playable characters have Crests because it's more exciting to play as people who are stronger and more special than others"
Lol
Seriously though, I don't think Dagda's worldbuilding will be at all connected to Fodlan and its two games. Dagda will not have the same "Crust System" as Fodlan because the Church is bAd and the only reason why people with "power incarnate" special powers come out on top of the social hierarchy in this moronic fictional world, nor will Crests come from the same dragons as the ones who died during Nemesis's red party. Esmeralda's family got her Crest from a different Grim Dragon than Blaiddyd got his from...
At least that's what I speculate because in two games + DLC (that's 2×60€ + 30€ DLC) Fodlan did not manage to properly convey how its world works. It never properly communicated how the Nabateans work. Why are there wild Demonic Beasts and what are the Crest stones they're carrying? What is the point in having "dragon types" when technically all the Crests and Relics are reduced to the same vague concept of "strength" instead of having individual abilities according to the dragon type they originate from (for example where is the Crest of Daphnel's fire affinity? The Crest of Aubin's ice affinity?) How do dragons even inherit their type (for example why is Flayn a light dragon when Seteth is an earth one? Was Flayn a completely new type?) How many Nabateans were there? Was it a whole ass civilization with dozens of Sky Dragons, etc? Then why aren't there more Relics than exactly one for each type? Where were the ones from outside of Fodlan after the Red Canyon massacre? Shouldn't they have come back afterwards? Shouldn't there be way more half-Nabateans out there? And now FW even shakes up the established lore with Cai having two Crests like it is nothing.
I'm not surprised that people are now confused how Dagda's lore blends into the established world because, well, the Nabatean "lore" (if you can even call it that) is hardly explored because Fodlan was never interested in them. It was interested in school reunions, tea time and characters ruminating about the necessity of fighting a person who invaded their country with the intention of erasing it. The soap opera school drama was always more important than the dragons whose hearts, blood and bones formed the actual world of Fodlan. Now that the soap opera is gone and the bones, bloods and heart formed a new continent, we are scratching our heads once again about how things work...again after two games that could have properly spelled out the rules.
Why is the shitty book 7 child a mythic no other TT unit got this treatment they’re really showing their while we see you horny men ass here and it pisses me off immensely
Even Sommie can’t save this bullshit
It's simple! Because she's our wholesome daughter (uwu) with big honkabadooahooas. I'm talking massive dohoonkabhankoloos. Humongous homgolongononolpngogous. Tremendous tittagigahahigtattattas. Gigantic guugioahaloogoogas. Massive melons.
One more thing I need to say is that it is and should be perfectly fine to enjoy things that are problematic and "impure". Idk why, but there is a growing sentiment that the things you enjoy have to be the most morally perfect thing ever and it's exhausting. That's not how the world works. It's unhealthy to expect everything to be squeaky clean because nothing is, really. Enjoying imperfect things does not reflect badly on you. Just enjoy what you enjoy and be honest about what it is.
Fortunes Weave is beginning to feel just as sexist as Kushikuhara’s Echoes but with racism (and possibly ableism?) on top of it. Echoes was an old game from the 90’s remade (the excuse people give it) what the hell is the excuse for this brand new game in 2026?! Did Kushikuhara have anything to do with Engage? If not that may be why I liked it. If so can we go back to that? Because FW sounds like 3H mixed with Echoes in the worst ways so far
You are correct! Engage does not have Kusakihara's name to it and you can absolutely feel it.
Honestly, similar to 3H, Echoes gets away with so much bs just because people like the game. That the misogyny in Echoes comes from its status as a remake of Gaiden is cope. Yes, some of Kaga's own sexism transitioned into Echoes, but Kusakihara and the development team added a lot of their own, too. For example: Celica being reduced to Alm's support instead of being an equal lord (and she is made dumber in Echoes, too), Berkut torching Rinea, women being glued to the ground in sexy positions, the witches all being victims (in Gaiden they were just there tbh), Faye's whole existence, Conrad stealing the show from Celica, Nuibaba's new sexy design (in Gaiden "she" was an ugly old man), and there is probably more.
Similiar with the tone deafness in regards to race in 3H. Almyra has always been a tone deaf portrayal of an oriental country. Their "culture" is to regularly invade their neighbouring country to flex their muscles. Oh, and in Nopes Nader wants to loot Faerghus (a country he helped getting invaded unprovoked) and he needs to be told by Lorenz, (you know, the white civilized noble) that looting is a big no-no. For some reason, 3H got away with it.
The signs that Kusakihara's writing has massive issues were always there. People chose to ignore them. It's not surprising that FW looks the way it does, assuming he was involved in writing FW that is...
I decided to take a look into the videos posted about Esmerelda, particularly their versions posted to YouTube by Perfectly Nintendo, mostly cuz I see most of the comments on the video tend to be in Japanese so it makes me wanna see their perspective on things. Granted, I know I'm kinda setting myself up for a small sample size (the comments on a specific YouTube channel), and giving the benefit of the doubt that people posting on the videos in Japanese *are* Japanese, but still...
In any case, to surely nobody's surprise, no one's talking about the... implications about Esmerelda's whole deal. It does kinda remind me that unfortunately, most people really don't pay attention or notice that kinda stuff (see also: the Gerudo in Zelda). Which, yknow... this is unfortunately expected.
In lighter news, their decision to have Esmerelda as an armor knight in the clips (or well, "armor" knight in her case) has resulted in rounds of jokes from them about her being the least armored armor knight in a mainline game yet.
Oooh, interesting...but the result is unfortunately not surprising.
I'm more surprised by the english speaking part of the fandom because other than this little corner of Tumblr, people don't seem to see any issue with Fortune Weave's presentation so far. The only criticism I have seen about anything up until this point is that the female characters are designed to be waifus while the male cast has more diverse designs, which is a correct complaint.
But otherwise? Nothing. Today people praised Esmeralda because "Omg her story is based on Perseus and Andromeda!", completely ignoring that a) the context of the situation doesn't even match what happens in FW beyond a very surface level flair, b) that it's weird to have eurocentric mythology in a game that centers fictional Africa, c) it still plays on the white saviour trope (which is something people accused Dimitri and Dedue of, but it's not a problem now? Even though Dietrich and Esmeralda fit the trope a lot better?) and d) that FW already seems to lean into, uh, questionable tropes about non-white countries and today's new information adds to that.
I suppose right now people are just very hyped and want to give the game the benefit of the doubt, which is fair. People should be happy about a new game in a series they love. I fully accept that I am Debby Downer in this case lol.
However, this is the fandom that gave us the 3H discourse. The same discourse where people were harassed, labeled homophobic/sexist/racist/etc and were called stupid/"controlled by their ovaries"/lacking reading comprehension skills for liking the game in a different way. All of this progressive language and real life issues were weaponized to slander people who didn't like 3H/Nopes the same way they do, all to position themselves as morally and ethically pure/superior while the opposition is rotten. But now there is a new Fodlan-verse with questionable design decisions and all these progressive talking points are nowhere to be seen. Almost like people never cared in the first place and that's what gets to me the most tbh. This fandom feels so very fake. It was always just about attacking other people, nothing more.
For the people who are just here to have fun, I hope that the game turns out better than it seems at the moment, but ngl, if it is indeed a tone deaf car crash in the end, I'm looking forward to the mental gymnastics this fandom has to do to justify why this game is a progressive masterpiece. Idc if it is petty.
Dear IS, hire me when you make Echoes of Fòdlan in 2040 or whatever. I will give you a script that doesn't suck. I will give you a rebalanced gameplay design. I will make Crests actually superpowers with a side of quirks beyond "they like sweets more." (hear me out series' most bloody manakete origin story)
Imagine Fodlan discourse in 2040 😭
I'm on board for getting you involved in re-writing Fodlan, especially on the Crest part. Their writing and gameplay integration is so bad.
A "rational" dark mage who is a dick to everybody who doesn't earn his respect and a female comedic sidekick who fell in love with the main character after being rescued and whose crush is played for laughs?
Dagda (a country inhabited by dark skinned people) has a tradition of foddering unwanted people to beasts and our white protagonist had to swoop in and save this poor girl from her own culture. Now she's in love with him.
Uh
Can't wait to see the 3H standom twist themselves into pretzels defending this.

Nugglocke Part 11 - To Kanto...It always leads back to Kanto
For Kanto I will keep my notes a lot shorter because there isn't a whole lot to talk about here tbh. It was cool that Gold and Silver had a second region complete with a second set of badges, but personally I never liked how empty Kanto feels in these games :/ Back then it was because of limited space and thus more excusable, but the remakes could have done more with it imo.
Vermillion City Gym
- fuck the guy with 3 Electrodes
- Ellie survived the Explosion, but damn it was a close call
- I hate the Vermillion City Gym "puzzle"
- vs Lt. Surge
- his Raichu spams Double Team 🙄
- so does his Electrode
- couldn't stop Ellie's Earthquake sweep though lol
Route 6/Route 7
- Radish the Oddish joins the bench on Route 6
- and Baldo the Growlithe on Route 7
Saffron City Gym
- vs Sabrina
- I'm scared
- my team sucks ass against Psychic types
-once again it's X Item cheese lol
- Elisabeth pulled through, whew
Celadon City (Gym)
- the cameo of the Sinnoh gym leaders is cute
- inside the gym is a trainer with a Paras, a Parasect and a Carnivine. She only needed a Sunflora to complete the unholy trifecta of useless Grass type Pokemon :/
- vs Erika
- "Jumpluff uses Sunny Day"
- Avocado: "Sure, I take it"
- then he burned down the whole gym
Ending the part here. So far the level jump isn't too challenging. Hopefully it stays that way.
I had to train Tecla and Avocado with the EXP Share. It was awful.
vs Will
- ngl, I forgot this guy exists
- Will's Slowbro knows Curse but has no physical moves????
- Jeanette kills it with T-Bolt (fuck yeah, Voltorb Flip)
- Avocado one-shotted Jynx
- gods, the Exeggutor had the most bs RNG hacks. Every Psychic caused a SpDef drop (offsetting my XSpDef), hitting all Hypnosis...
- eventually Elisabeth murderer it with Ice Fang
- Tecla took down a Xatu that was weakened by Ellie. It finally did something 🥹
- aaaand Jeanette took out the second Xatu (fuck yeah, Voltorb Flip #2)
vs Koga
- lol, he uses Ariados. What a loser. Only losers use this Pokemon
- Avocado burnt down half his team (he finally did something again)
- Koga uses a Crobat. Only the most based people use Crobats. He is forgiven for using Ariados
- lol, Elisabeth froze the bat
- this was a sweep
vs Bruno
- Bomb put Hitmontop to sleep, spammed Swords Dance and ate some X Items. Then he swept Bruno's whole team. RIP
vs Karen
- will Tecla take out Umbreon?
- he did! 🥹
- Ellie Ice Shard'd Murkrow. Feels good
- Houndoom couldn't take Elisabeth's Waterfall
- Avocado murdered Vileplume...and wants to learn Rollout. Wat
- let's see how Tecla fares against Gengar
- Gengar tried Focus Miss. Naturally it missed
- after stalling out Gengar's Destiny Bond pp, Tecla actually took it out! Now get into your ball and stay far away from Lance
- before I take on Lance I check my bag to give Elisabeth the anti-Electric type berry...only to notice that I do not have one. Damn you, mom! You sent me every berry except this one.
- fuck
vs Lance
- Gyarados vs Gyarados
- ngl, I think my best bet is to shove Elisabeth full with X Items and go for a sweep
- the Gyarados can't really hurt her anyway
- it worked! Lance is defeated
- is it cheap? Sure. But Lance is also a cheap guy with his 3 cheated Dragonites
- if he gets to drug his Pokemon to evolve early, I get to drug my Pokemon to have better stats
- get fucked
At this point I want to apologize to Elisabeth again. You carried my ass and I intended to bench you for a shitty Mantine. I'm so sorry 😔
And one prayer goes to Chip and K. Gaebora. You two carried my ass for a long time. Thank you.
Anyway, my team is the Champion team now. Congrats! But the journey is not over yet. See you all in Kanto!
Apparently Love and Deepspace is broken after the newest update lmao. This was bound to happen. The devs had to cut a lot of code in a few days and obviously this would mess with everything. This is why you don't call for content that has been in development for who knows how long to be cut.
Not going to lie Love and Deep Space is a game I would never play in a million years. However, if they actually add the wolf guy back Valko I think? I will pick up the game just to see what the hell this is all about this saga was has been crazy and like anyone banning something automatically piques my interest to see why he will go down as the most popular character of that game and he might not even be in it
Imagine if this was just a giant way to get people like me interested in their game a masterclass of marketing, it’s obviously not of course
Lmao, it would be 200IQ marketing if all of this was intended. A lot of people who would have never talked about Love and Deepspace got interested in this Valko shitshow because what happened was insane. Also, there is Valko fanart and fanfic everywhere at the moment. His cancellation only endeared him to people. It's hilarious.
