crxelizabeth:
day-dreaming with @crxdan
maybe if she didn’t sleep in his class all the time then she would’ve realized it sooner. maybe if she looked up at the professors during meals she would’ve seen him. maybe if she stopped and paid attention while running down the halls she would’ve ran into him. somehow in the time that he has been here, she just didn’t even notice in presence, if she did, she would’ve realized that she knew him.
it was only by luck that she even saw him today. her eyes thinking that it was some sort of trick at first, an mirage created by her mind due to the fact that she would be forced to leave her safe haven soon for summer vacation and she was desperately trying to find her safe place again once she did part from the grounds of hogwarts.
but it wasn’t a trick at all, he was actually there. at hogwarts. her safe place outside the castles had somehow found his way onto her home away from home as well. without thinking much about it, she bounds up to him with a bright smile on her face, getting into step with him, her mentor who helped her overcome so many things after the death of her mother, her savior.
“professor,” she starts, the smile growing wider upon her face at that word, having never thought that she would ever be personally calling him that, “i’m still slightly confused about the concepts that we learned about in class today, would you mind going over them again for me?” if he remembered her at all, he would know that statement was a lie. transfigurations has always been one of her strongest subjects and he would know that. after all, it was he who had helped and taught her what she knew all those years ago.
Daniel had noticed her ever since the very first day he put his foot on Hogwarts ground as a professor. Because the girl didn’t seem to want to talk to him, he respected her space and kept himself as just as a professor. He could understand that it would be very weird to have a professor as a close old friend.
He quickly got used to this kind of situation between them and stopped bothering the fact she would always ignore him. It was because of that reason, that the professor was surprised when the younger girl looked for him after class.
First, he actually thought she had a question. If she didn’t talk to him before, she might have been forced to now thanks to something she probably didn’t catch during class. But it didn’t seem like the case.
After thinking for a moment over the girl’s question, he slowly came to realize she was actually happy to talk to him, as a friend. “That’s incredibly unusual, Elizabeth.” The professor starts, a smile of his being offered to her as well. “I’m pretty sure I saw you execute the spell with perfection during class. And I doubt very much a witch like you would have done it by accident.”
He offered her a playful smile, happy with the familiar feeling they shared. “I take pride in my pupil, she can’t just let me down right now.” He chuckles lightly.
