"You are a doctor of Yharnam. See here that you now gained yourself two patients."
A furrowed brow on a creaseless face. "There be, but one for you in need of tending. Unless you-"
"Aye no. Forget about me. Your patient be this near mongral lout." At last the relief of setting him upon a horizontal surface. His weight a close thing for the operating table to cradle. Her back isn't much better, but you took the mercies where you could nick them. Cracked out like an overly dry biscuit, then turned back to the lost lamb she was about to ask so, so much of. But she wasn't leaving till what needed to be done was done. Same as every job.
"Then not only are you going to cure him, but your next patient - this hell ridden city."

Okay in seriousness there are some questions that people ask about this series and have discourse about but I can't really go into detail without some minor spoilers so view this little FAQ with caution:
Is MARRIAGETOXIN a BL?
From a marketing standpoint, MARRIAGETOXIN has never been and will never be labeled as a BL. It is a battle shounen through and through. However, just because it's not a BL does not mean it's not queer.
And usually when people ask this question what they're really trying to ask is, "Will Gero and Kinosaki get together?"
I can't predict the future, and the manga is still ongoing. That being said, at this point in the manga, it is HEAVILY implied that Gero and Kinosaki are in love with each other.
2. Is Kinosaki trans?
I'm not going to answer this as a yes/no question, but give some clarity about what they have/haven't said.
For starters, Kinosaki fits cleanly into the social identity of an otokonoko (オトコの娘, literally "male daughter"), which is sometimes translated as femboy. That's not a horrible translation, but those two words are not 1:1. "Otokonoko" is an identity that excludes neither binary cis men NOR binary trans women. Saying something like "they can't be trans, they're otokonoko" is not useful because those ideas are NOT mutually exclusive.
Kinosaki says in the first episode/first chapter that they are a guy (男 otoko). They could be referring to their gender identity, their assigned gender at birth, or both. I want to emphasize that it is not unusual for even binary trans women in Japanese to use phrases identifying themselves as "men," "men who want to become women," or "men with the heart/mind of a woman," so I don't think it's fair to say that that wholly negates a transfem reading of Kinosaki.
Kinosaki presents as female and is regularly assumed to be a (presumably cis) woman and shows no discomfort towards that. We don't see Kinosaki presenting as male much, but they haven't said they have any discomfort towards that either.
Kinosaki's personal pronoun is watashi, which is female-leaning in casual contexts. Kinosaki's first name, Mei, is also very feminine, and might therefore be a chosen name or pseudonym (it's also written in katakana, which may indicate a pseudonym in other media, but many names are written in katakana in MARRIAGETOXIN so that's not particularly notable). Kinosaki's way of speaking is a bit feminine-leaning but mostly gender neutral.
Kinosaki says they enjoy being attractive to "both sides" in Japanese.
So....basically, it's not too hard to substantiate any cis man, trans woman, x-gender, or unlabelled reading of Kinosaki with canon points. Kinosaki is also an unreliable narrator with some secrets, so keep that in mind.
3. I've heard that Kinosaki was revealed to be "a girl all along," is that true?
This is a common statement on Twitter. If you're asking about Kinosaki being a trans woman, see above. If you're asking about Kinosaki being a a cis woman, anyone who says that Kinosaki is a cis woman in the manga is lying out of their ass. Some people believe that Kinosaki will be revealed to be a cis woman, or that there are "hints" that Kinosaki is a cis woman. Again, I can't predict the future, but "hints" is a massive reach.
Most of the "argument" comes down to the fact that Kinosaki's chest has been obscured very occasionally:
There is a spoilery, non-gender-related reason for this. Some people also point out that, even after that reason is revealed, their nipples are still obscured and like...listen, it's a Shonen Jump title, and seeing a very feminine person with exposed nipples can lead to controversy.
Regardless, it's clear that Kinosaki's chest is flat:
There's nothing that contradicts Kinosaki being AMAB and they are not a "secret cis woman."
As a sometime transmasc: because it's attractive to be around a male. If that wasn't part of the experience for us, being male with people giving off male signals, we wouldn't need to be transmasc in the first place. Male bonding is part of the joy of being male. Imagining that you are as male, were always as male, as the cis male you're with is a joy for a transmasc.
Or at least, for this particular one. Opinions may differ.
Okay but what about transmen and transmascs who are attracted to women? Like I’m attracted to women and I’m a transman and I just don’t get why that never is represented in these books.
I would love for there to be a book with a transman/masc main character where his love interest was a woman, it’d make my day tbh.
Reblogging this in hopes one of my followers can swoop in with a recommendation for my friend dullyn here since the only response so far has been misogynistic drivel which completely misses the point of the original post which was attempting to bring love and attention to women-inclusive relationships!
ok sorry to double reblog BUT I just looked him up and he does these fantastic videos where he breaks down HOW he actually mimics the other artists’ styles. Like for ed Sheeran, he explains how he brings his voice forward in the mouth, while Adam Levine sings in the back of the mouth, stuff like that. It’s SO COOL, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone actually break down how to do this sort of thing, as a skill, instead of just treating it like a neat trick they just happen to be good at.

Here's the cover for the Legends & Lattes graphic novel adaptation that my friend Shanti and I have been making over the last year! I'm super excited that this was just announced by the publishers, and should be available to cozy up with this fall. :)
Process below - it was really fun to collaborate with another cartoonist and pass the work back and forth. Our process for the comic pages was pretty similar.
I'm an artist and medical student, and I use art to help me pay some bills.
I built a free, helpful tool because to help prevent other talented creatives from undercharging, as I really see this a lot online.
It's a calculator with a built in reality check
Input your survival costs and expenses
True billable hours
Get the rate you actually need to charge to hit a 20% (or whatever you choose) profit margin.
It generates the rate, a template negotiation email + final invoice.
Plan to keep this tool free, ad-free, and open to everyone.

we gotta get back to torrent distribution, i just watched someone eat eight grand in bandwidth charges because they ran a direct-download piracy site with local file hosting through cloudflare. torrents were invented literally for this exact reason
i have a file or folder on my pc that i want to share with other people. let's call it gayshit.mp3
unfortunately gayshit.mp3 is 750mb and im not paying for discord nitro so i need another way to send it
i put it into qbittorrent and it makes a torrent file. this is essentially a very small file that points to gayshit.mp3 so other computers can find it. kinda like a treasure map
i send this tiny file to my friend, who loads it into qbittorrent. their computer takes a moment to find mine over the vast expanse of cyberspace and then (as long as my pc is running and the file is still where it should be), it gets copied from my hard drive to theirs
this is the cool part: if somebody else loads that tiny file, they can download it from both of us. if i'm offline but my friend is on, the third person can still get it. this also means that if two people have separate halves of the file, they can download the other half from each other. as long as some combination of people have the pieces between them, they can all have the whole thing.
crucially this does not require a server!!! you can just upload the file to a few people and as long as they keep it, it's still accessible. as long as somebody, somewhere is still connected, it's available forever. the only way it goes away is if everybody disconnects from it.
