v2 Fairy Deku and Katsuki! I've been playing around with new designs while bored at work. It's nice to spend more time on them than my originals.
I plan to do more overtime but for now the boys
practicing self care less out of self love and more for the sheer logical reasoning of it’d be kinda stupid of me to expect myself to be able to function without proper maintenance
“oh i don’t deserve rest and relaxation, i haven’t done enough, i haven’t earned it” and my car’s breaks don’t deserve break fluid because they aren’t breaking well enough to earn it. that’s what you sound like!!!!!
If you do not schedule time for maintenance, your equipment will schedule it for you
Trevor Noah interviewing Judith “Badass” Heumann
x
I’m glad so many people have discovered Judith “Judy” Heumann through this silly little gif set. I am sorry to say she has died at the age of 75. She was known as the mother of disability rights. In 1970 she sued the Board of Education to become a licensed teacher and she won. In 1977 she was one of the organizers of the 504 Sit-in, a 24 day protest for disability rights. You can learn more about her story from her book Being Heumann, the picture book Fighting for YES! or the documentary Crip Camp.
Judy Heumann believed in the inherent value of each disabled individual and would never back down on what she thought was right. Her friends and fellow activists remember her as a strong leader.

May her memory be for a blessing.

How many continents do you consider the Americas (the region of the world spanning from Canada to Chile) to consist of?
One (America/The Americas)
Two (North America and South America)
Three (North America, Central America, South America)
Four (North America, Central America, The Caribbean, South America)
Five or more (???)
I don't believe in continents/show results

One of the most anti-current-society beliefs I hold is that, even as somebody that works in education, the current societal structure of "kids need to be in school until they're old enough to get a job", and accompanying sentiments like "you learn best as a child" are patently backwards, irrational, and stupid.
Being a kid should be about having fun and learning about the world. Education can and should be a part of it, but the current system is objectively broken, and most educators that understand this are actively trying to fix it.
Kids should not be locked in a building and forced to learn for 6-8 hours every work day, ESPECIALLY not in our current situation where most of them have jobs afterwards.
Kids only "learn better" than adults purely because A. they have nothing else to "worry" about (like how adults have taxes, health, jobs, societal problems, et cetera), and B. because for the most part they're essentially forced to learn the stuff. While this isn't a wholly bad idea, it has perpetuated ideas like "If you don't pick up a hobby like music or art as a kid or teenager you're fucked", which is patently stupid, and it also takes away important social development from kids.
I've said it to coworkers, but my favorite part about being adult is just how much I fucking LOVE learning now. My favorite days are when the kids get out early so us adults can have a Professional Development class! Learning is so much fun, now that I'm a fully-fledged adult, and can choose whether or not I want to actually "learn", and gauge whether I would actually benefit from this learning! One of my favorite parts of my previous job was when I had to go a city over for a week-long certification class, and it was a blast to be an adult learning about stuff!
If you give an adult that's interested the right tools and directions, learning hobbies can be the most gratifying experience ever, way more than as a kid, where you're limited by having any source of income, you're going through puberty, you have to worry about actual School, you have other shit going on, and you may not even want to learn in the first place!
If you are a teenager, or kid, and you read this:
Spend as much time as you realistically can enjoying being a kid.
You can learn and pick up hobbies when you're out of school. If something like learning an instrument, or coding, or acting, or art, or whatever, is something you really like, then chase your bliss, but if you're being forced to do sports for example, and you have a say, don't do it! Have fun! Hang out with friends your age, hang out at home reading or playing videogames, enjoy it as much as you can! You have a long life ahead of you, and you'll (hopefully) have time to pick up new interests as you graduate, or leave school, and you have a job, and your entire week isn't spent crushed under the weight of unwanted academia.
