Bro I feel so stupid. I am TRYING to be media literate, but it's hard. After reading a bunch of other people's posts about the movie, it's so obvious to me now how bad Bear was from the very start. Even if you don't count making the wish bc he didn't know/believe it would actually work, yeah it is really fucked up how early he knows it's not Nikki and he doesn't care. It is fucked up how he adjusts to not Nikki's random outbursts or odd behavior because he doesn't want to "relationship" to end. It's fucked up and I feel stupid for excusing/justifying it as I watched.

Bear is a coward through and through. Too cowardly to lay his feelings out and face rejection, too cowardly to put Nikki out of her misery when she asked him to, and too cowardly to kill himself until he had lost eveything—and even then he tries to take it back by making himself vomit.

I was wrong, the movie isn't too cruel, it's not cruel enough to Bear.

I just learned that a lot of vintage perfumes and fragrances were intentionally created to blend well with the ever-present smell of cigarettes, and in specific a lot of iconic ones that are super musky and floral and civet-heavy were intended to compliment the smell of fur coats or even "refresh" that new fur coat smell, which is one of the reasons (besides just shifting preferences and trends) that a lot of them smell really, really bad to modern noses.
