I’m becoming even more “let people identify however they want fuck they want” out of spite.
I love you, lesboys
I love you, turigirls
I love you, gaybians
I love you, transfemmascs
I love you, transmascfems
I love you, people whose romantic orientation isn’t the same as their sexual orientation
I love you, people whose orientations “don’t match” their gender
Y’all looked at the boxes and smashed them to bits with a baseball bat. That’s metal as fuck and a lot of people don’t seem to understand that. I’ve supported y’all for a while, but now I’m getting noisier about it. Cuz for some reason “let people identify however the fuck they want” is still a hot take, even within the queer community.
Happy pride month, y’all. You guys are awesome. Never forget that.
I invite any subtlidens and/or people with contradictory labels to talk about their identities and/or experiences in the comments and/or reblogs. I’m honestly curious to see some I haven’t heard of yet.
Excellent, no mercy
disabled ppl we need to start lying to nosy people okay? you tell me i'm too young to need a cane and i will tell you point blank that maybe you should tell that to the guy who ran me over. you don't get an explanation of my health issues you get lies and depending on how much of an asshole i want to be that lie will be anything from a humble car crash to a 1 billion lions attack. mind yr business.
"i could never live like that" well maybe you'll have to because this happened overnight. yeah you heard me i was the most able bodied man in the world but then one morning bam i woke up disabled. yeah you could have that too. there's no cure either you'll just wake up one morning and now you have to live like me
"what happened" well have you ever seen looney tunes? yeah an anvil landed on me and squished me flat.

ID / TL;DW: young Black man explains the history of voodoo dolls: they originated in England, where Black people where prohibited from learning to read or write, to help witches keep track of what ailed their patients. Eg., person goes to witch and laments headache, they treat their headache and make a small doll (called "poppet"), trying to represent them as good as possible, stick a needle in its head and put it up a shelf. When they return next week, the witch takes their poppet and asks about their headache. If it's gone, they remove the needle, otherwise they know they have to treat a rather persistent headache.
I'm just gonna freeze-frame this for everybody:
You don't have to laugh at "girl math" or "girl dinner" or "I'm just a girl" jokes. You don't have to laugh at misogynistic humor that demeans women. You don't have to go along with it. You don't even have to sit there awkwardly pretending you didn't hear anything. You are allowed to speak up and say something.
You don't have to be a jerk about it. The most effective yet civil way of dealing with harmful "humor" is just pretending you don't get the joke and asking them to explain. "I don't get it, what's girl math? What's a girl dinner? What do you mean by you're just a girl? Can you explain the joke to me?"
And if you're feeling bold, you can just say (or follow up with) "I think that's misogynistic". That's allowed. You don't have to quietly endure misogynistic "jokes", you can call a spade a spade.
'i think it's pretty lousy to say girls are dumber than boys and then expect girls to laugh about it'
they're not super common but i really do appreciate characters who are introduced as one gender and later revealed to be closeted trans. i like that it challenges the audience to really think about how they perceive trans people because realistically not every trans person you meet is going to be out to you at first. yes we introduced this character as a man and now we're asking you to reframe her as a woman after you've already gotten to know her. can you be normal about that? can you be normal when it happens to people you know in real life? i hope you can.
No, seriously,
