Kenna smiled as the queen turned her attention to her. Her smile widened when the queen called her by name, she wasn’t sure that the queen knew her name but it felt like she belonged when the queen spoke her name. 

“Yes, my name is Kenna, your grace,” she replied beaming glancing up at Tywin with an amazed look, had he told the queen about her? She returned her attention to the pretty woman in front of her. “You have?” she asked in childlike wonder.

“You must miss it. From what I have heard about the Water Gardens, it’s lovely there.” And it must be hard for her, being away from the place that felt like home, where she truly belonged. Joanna knew she would hate that. “Maybe I can go and visit Myrcella there some day.” 

She pulled a face, as she always felt compelled to do when she heard anyone speak well of her grandfather, but kept it slightly more restrained than she might usually have. 

Joanna couldn’t see why Kenna didn’t hate Lord Tywin the way she did, and it took a moment to consider the best thing to say in response. “You are lucky. His good will doesn’t extend to many.”

“By all rights, I shouldn’t even have his good will,” she stated choosing her words carefully she was a lion without a pride and being raised by vipers taught her to play the part of a obedient biddable chess piece until the claws were ready to come out but she didn’t quite know how to feel about the board now that she had started to get to know the patriarch, the worst enemy she ought to have had. “I’m a reminder of a house that is supposed to be gone, completely distroyed, but yet I am still breathing,”

She shrugged, “Perhaps someday you and I would be permitted to visit the water gardens.”

Though she expected the last Reyne probably didn’t remember Castamere, and maybe didn’t see it as her home. “Where do you feel most at ease, my lady?”

“I grew up in Dorne,” she stated with a smile as looked at the young lioness. “I feel more at home in the famous water gardens of my youth, but when the princess got sent to Dorne, they sent me up here. I do owe my continued survival to Tywin’s good will.”

“That is the biggest den of the most powerful lions to be sure,” she agreed about Casterly Rock being the true lion’s den. “Then again King’s Landing was built for the Targaryns by the Targaryns so I think a Dragon’s Lair being a more apt description for it. No other animal is supposed to feel at ease in it.”
