“If voting did anything they would outlaw it.” Is such an insane take to me, because literally all of human politics for recorded history has centered around Outlawing the Vote.
Also there’s something so deeply condescending about suggesting that the millennia of work needing to get us to this point of history was all somehow “permitted” by the elites, and not a long, arduous struggle rife with setbacks that forced the world, inch by inch, to become fairer, more equal, and more just. You stand on the shoulders of giants and yet rather than continue their work, you spit on their feet for not lifting you higher.
