thanks to @martini-september @chugginglyriumtofightthemaker @august--bones @berrypawsketch @ma-sulevin and @kaoruyogi for your kind words ^v^
Hey everyone, you guys might have noticed I haven’t been reblogging your posts--unfortunately, I will not be able to finish cullavellan week this year. I’ve been having an extremely bad mental health week, and I need to spend the rest of it recovering. I hope everyone has a good weekend and thank you for all the beautiful work you’ve produced!
Cullavellan Week Day 3: Working Together
So I didn’t write anything specific for this prompt, but I happened to have a bit of this in a snippet of the latest chapter of “The Lion by Torchlight”. I figured I might as share for this prompt for @cullavellanheaven‘s @cullavellanweek “Working Together” prompt.
Cullen and Halise tag team to take down Red Templars in the Arbor Wilds.
Words: 1,758 (kinda long, sorry)
Rating: T for Teen (Canon-typical violence)
*****
Cullen slashed at a deformed knight with red lyrium crystals sprouting from the side of his face. Cullen’s sword cut past the knight’s bent and weakened armor and deep into his side with a sickening sound. Rather than falling, however, the knight continued to advance on Cullen, forcing him to block blow after blow before landing one of his own into the knight’s throat. Burning blood gushed from the wound, and Cullen drew up his shield once more to obstruct the flow of the tainted liquid.

Cullavellan week 2016 / DAY ONE : hobbies
Inanni never had much access to books- the clan didn’t have many and most were what her mother had stolen from the Circle more than 40 years previously. But they were the books she learnt to read on, sat in her mother’s lap, and she loved them. Now she has more books than she ever believed possible, and while they don’t have the same place in her heart, she devours them. She feels like she has a lot of catching up to do, so she reads history, politics, religion, strategy, magic, philosophy, everything she can get her hands on. And occasionally trades smutty serials with Cassandra. Cullen has read everything on those bookshelves of his, and it’s not all the dry military journals and strategic treaties you might expect. There’s some surprisingly juicy poetry in there. He’s always liked to read- serving in the Circle it was one of the few pastimes available that didn’t eventually get you into trouble, and later it meant he could keep to himself even if it earned him a reputation for being standoffish. Now he tends to read by candlelight when the nightmares have woken him before any reasonable time to be out of bed. But, quietly curled up together on the settee in Inanni’s quarters, he finds it warm and comforting and companionable and it doesn’t matter that they are each absorbed in their own texts. They are together and sharing this comfortable silence and it is wonderful. And if, occasionally, he is treated to a dramatic reading that has them both in stitches, that’s no bad thing either.
This is likely my only piece for Cullavellan week :( I am just too slow and easily distracted, and away from Thursday anyway. I might *gulp* attempt to write something. But I had such plans! Perhaps I’ll do them later. Probably just in time for next year orz
Cullavellan Week, Day 2: Family
It’s Cullavellan week and I already missed day one, off to a great start! 8D Hopefully the rest of the days will be better and I’ve already gotten day 2 done since this was one of the prompts I was most excited for because it gives me more excuses to draw Cullen and Sylaisa’s son Leorien, AKA Leo, AKA the most spoiled brat in Ferelden.
I had a drabble to go along with this but then my laptop froze and I lost it so only pics for this one. The others will probably have drabbles~
Cullavellan Week Day 2- Family
Aylwen Lavellan x Cullen Rutherford – 639 words
Rating: T (SFW)
Summary: Aylwen and Cullen discuss the future.
Sort of a loose take on this theme, since I haven’t beaten Trespasser or gotten very far in my Cullavellan series yet.
Let’s say this takes place about six months after the end of DA:I proper.
Aylwen pressed herself closer to Cullen as they kissed atop the covers. She wasn’t quite sure how they’d gotten to this point. The two of them had only meant to drop by her room briefly, but somehow they’d ended up on top of her bed, his arms tight around her waist and her hands cradling his face. Not that she minded. She was lost in the sting of his stubble, the solid press of his chest against hers, his scent all around her— And then he pulled back.
“Aylwen,” he said faintly. His breath tickled her face. “Aylwen, love.”
“What?” she said, out of breath. Her eyes were still closed, mind consumed by the desire to kiss him again.
“Have you ever, um, thought about children?”

Cullavellan Week 2016 - Day 2: “Family”
Summary: (Post-Trespasser) With some time to heal, Cullen reconsiders his desperate proposal at the Winter Palace, hoping he might be able to do things the old-fashioned way. He makes a visit to Keeper Deshanna.
Words: 645 (very short)
Tags: Angst/Romance
No Warnings
Her shadow filled the doorway. “You’re awfully quiet. Still not a little seasick, are you?”
The delicate laughter laced into her words cut through him like razors. Cullen sat on the edge of the bed, dressed and ready for a day of travel. Dawn hadn’t even arrived, stars still in the sky. Although he had landed in Wycome hours earlier, and despite the fact that he barely slept a wink, he did not feel tired.
“No, no… I’ve… just been thinking.”
“About what?” Ora took her place beside him, just as prepared as he was for their planned journey to Kirkwall. After the dissolution of the Inquisition, she had returned to her clan for some time. So had Cullen with his own family in South Reach. This was the first they’d seen each other in months. He had been so happy, he had looked so well… their reunion mutually anticipated.
“I was thinking perhaps you should remain here.”

Family
My tiny little contribution to @cullavellanheaven s Cullavellan Week this year, for day 2: Family. I am very out of practice writing Ayr and Cullen now… I’m to used to writing their kids! Oops ;;
Cousins Lavellan / Journeys canon. Enjoy ♥
There are days when Cullen still thinks he’s dreaming.
That everything that’s happened since the Tower has been one long, wonderful, dream.
And then there are days like this one: where that fear is banished by his wife’s familiar touch and his children’s joyful laughter, bringing him back to reality and stretching his grin wide at the sight before them.
Ayr is tucked comfortably against his side, both sitting against one of the trees out in the little Valley they like to visit from time to time. She’s stopped shaving part of her head, red curls now covering the space, but otherwise she looks no different from when they’d met.
A bit older, yes, and much calmer, but she remains Ayr, the woman who stormed unexpectedly into his life and stole his heart with her fiery wit.
The laughter draws his attention again, gaze drifting fondly to the children running around in the grass not far away, joined by a Mabari and - strange as it may have once seemed - a Dragonling.
Isera, now ten, was carrying Serena by piggyback, the two running happily away from their brothers as they attempted to give chase. Serena and Terys were six, and little Faron had just hit four; and all of their children were energetic, adventurous, and happy.
Cullen squeezed Ayr tightly around the shoulders as he watched them play, drawing her attention and feeling her cuddle closer with a quiet laugh.
“Alright, Cullen?” she asks, eyes bright and joyful, lips tilted up.
“More than, Vhenan.” he answers easily, bending to kiss her and delighting, as he always does, in the simple fact that she is his.
They break apart when the giggling gets closer and they find themselves with their laps full of laughing children, sharing grins before smothering the kids with hugs and kisses.
They stay there as long as they can, and Cullen revels in this peace, this comfort.
This is his family.
This is home.
Cullavellan Week Day 2: Family
Just a wee doodle of the now large and extended Rutherford family ^_^ Branson, his husband (from this headcanon) and their little kiddo, Mia, Rosalie, Cullen & Celyse and their adopted family (kids that they rescued post-Trespasser) and their big doggeh.
Rosalie and Toran are both light-hearted, and bonded really well, Ayana thinks Mia is so cool and beautiful (she’s on tippy toes in the pic to try and be tall and cool like Mia) and Mia thinks the world of her. Cullen’s nephew and Rev are similar ages, so they play a lot together, and the two couples like to chat while the kids play, puppy probably joining in ^_^
So yes, this is their family. Enjoy! ^_^

One Sunny Day
Written for Day 2 of Cullavellan Week: Family :3
Arian had come to realize, in the time that she and her husband Cullen had been together, that when given motivation the man was practically a boy at heart.
And such was all she could consider as she watched him and their two eldest children playing some made-up sport in the front garden of their home. It were though three bushes of gold had sprouted legs, the way they all ran here and there about the yard - bright, flushed smiles plastered to their cheeks.
As for Arian, she remained in the shade, lounging in a wicker chair just outside the house, cradling her three-month-old daughter Brooke against her chest.
The baby was completely sacked out at the moment, and so her mother had carefully taken the opportunity to bring them both outside for some fresh air. Being able to watch the rest of her family have a heyday together was only a plus, in this case.

Cullavellan Week, Day 2
Today’s prompt is “Family.” I am short on time today, so my contribution is very brief. However, I’ve written at length about Freya’s relationship with her mother and how she reacted to the massacre of her family in my series on AO3, The Rabbit and the Lion. (In particular, Eir’melana deals with the loss very heavily. It’s rather long and involves Big Feels. You’ve been warned.)
For today, though, have a short little letter Cullen writes to his sister, Mia.
Dear Mia,
I’m sorry there has been such a long time between letters. I know you worry, but rest assured that I am well and happy. We have been rather busy here at Skyhold, and I have been terribly negligent in my personal correspondences. Please accept my sincerest apology for that.
I received your Satinalia card. I hope that you had a pleasant holiday and that you got to see Rosalie and Branson and the rest of the family. It has been such a long time since we were all together for the holiday… When all this is over, I look very much forward to many suppers and celebrations with all of you again. I have missed that greatly since joining the Templars.
Life at Skyhold has been non-stop, as usual. We are about to host a contingent of nobility from Orlais, so Josephine has us all running around like fennecs to prepare for it. You can imagine how thrilled I am at the thought of rubbing elbows with Orlesian dignitaries for the second time this year.
But my time here has not been without its pleasantries. The castle is a fine place to conduct business, and I have far more comforts here than I ever did as a Templar. And there are other perks, as well…
I have actually met someone, and I feel, for the first time in many years, truly happy in her company. She’s strong-willed, cheeky, and loves to boss me around. Remind you of anyone?
Her name is Freya, but you probably know her simply as “The Inquisitor.”
Yes, really.
You should hear the things people are already saying… Someday, I’ll stop getting myself involved in highly public scandals. But not today, I think. I’m rather enjoying this one.
As soon as we are able, I will bring her to visit. I think you will all love her just as much as I do, and I know she is very much looking forward to meeting my family.
Alas, duty calls and I must go back to my work. Please do keep writing often, if you can. I cannot promise that my replies will be more numerous or frequent, but having your correspondence and hearing about the family is like having a little piece of home here at Skyhold.
If you speak to the others, pass on my love. I think of you all often and remember you in my prayers each day.
Affectionately, Cullen
Cullavellan Week 2016 Day 2 - His Lover’s Son
Day 2 Prompt - family.
Rated G for General Audience.
Preview:
Ellana’s prodigal son is a lot more reserved than Cullen would think. Everything is there: the long pointed ears, the big black eyes trickling with a curious light, the olive hue of one used to the baking sun, and the even darker mop of hair that so becomes his mother. But there is a sense of guarded yet keen perceptiveness that makes the apple fall slightly farther from the tree. Standing across from him in the courtyard, Cullen can’t help but search his lover’s son for the lines that markedly distinguish him.
It’s slight AU where Ellana Lavellan was once married and had a kid with her ex-husband. Two years after the Temple of Ashes, Cullen gets to meet his would-be step son.

September 5th: Family (kids, extended relatives, siblings, etc.)
Arthur Rutherford Lavellan, son of Evaneil Lavellan and Cullen Rutherford.
He want’s to be a hero like his mother and always is trying to help elves, since he feels that he is part of their race and must preserve their culture. Even so he is half blood, his grandmother, the keeper of the clan, is always spoiling him.
Cullavellan Week Day One - Hobbies
I forgot to post this yesterday, sorry it’s a day late, I hope you like it anyway! Happy Cullavellan Week!
Mahanon can count on one hand the days where Kestrel and Cullen are completely, sickeningly sweet to each other.
Once was when was recovering from Haven, but that doesn’t even truly count because Kestrel was still running from her feelings. (Not that she ever truly stopped.)
Another time was during Halamshiral, and that doesn’t technically count either, on account of them pretending to adore each other for benefit of the nobles. Admittedly, the lines are rather blurred in that case.
And Cullen followed her like a lost dog so many times, staring at her longingly from across the room that he chalks it up anyways. He’s seen his sister do the same thing. He’s sure she thinks she’s being subtle, but all eyes end up on a 6'9" elf eventually. Mahanon would tell her, but electrocution doesn’t sound particularly pleasant.
So perhaps they aren’t the most romantic couple. And maybe they don’t go horseback riding or go hunting together, but there is something that they both can do.
