Anyway, if we’re gonna get political and actually spread some knowledge, here’s a few references on how racism manifests itself in Brazil:
look up the little Miguel murder case (link) and learn that “maid” is one of the most racism-loaded profession in this country and a direct reference to how house slaves used to work;
the n-word has a completely different connotation here;
the number of black people, mostly black men, incarcerated/murdered by the police in Brazil is way bigger then in any other place in the world (look up movies like “City of God”, “Carandiru” or the very explicit 2014 documentary “Point Blank”);
race-mixing (?) has been a thing for as long as slavery, resulting in colorism, because there was no formal segregation in Brazil (but a similar problem occurred because of “hygyanization”, as in removing undesired people, such as ex-slaves, prostitutes, lgbt etc, from important cities).
Oh, and guess who’s the group most infected by the coronavirus, due to not being allowed to isolate?

@alicegotthestrap distorted my narrative, ridiculized my right to expose how racism works in my country/community, and insulted me to my very core, all because I had doubts about a post and disagreed w its generalizing view.
she then blocked me and claimed i blocked her! like, what? please, honey, just onblock me and let me fucking slam you, because clearly you can’t handle an adult conversation w another very educated person.
she has been treating this whole fandom community like that for weeks, and, let me tell you: that is not militancy.
I can’t believe she actually blocked me, jesus

JUSTICE FOR MIGUEL
A white rich wowan kept her maid, a black woman, working despite covid-19. Annoyed by the maid’s 5 years old son crying when his mum left for a bit to walk her employer’s dog, the woman, Sari Corte Leal, left him in the elevator alone. Sari Corte was the one who pressed the button to a higher floor, (they were in the 5th) but he randomly pressed the 7th and the 9th later. he left the lift in the 9th (the only floor that didn’t have protection). miguel fell, and died. she paid a 20k bail and is free. she’s married to the mayor.
Miguel’s mother said: She trusted me to take care of her children. At the minute, I trusted her, she just got impatient
PLEASE, help Miguel’s mom by SIGNING THE PETITION!. They need justice!
RETWEET AND SHARE!
The white family wasn’t even paying her as a housekeeper! She is technically a government employee because this corrupt mayor hired her as so.
This isn’t my private account, and I have a very low reach here but I figured I should say about what’s happening in my country, Brazil, to whoever is interested.
We’ve been receiving threats of a military coup by our “president” Bolsonaro for months, the same one who ignores the dangers of covid19 and forces the majority of the population to keep on working (most of the deaths by covid19 in Brazil are low class, people of color). However, those threats are getting more intense everyday. Last week, there was a protest by an extremely fascist group, expressing support for Bolsonaro and demanding the shutdown of our Supreme Court, who is investigating corrupt actions by, yes, you guessed it, Bolsonaro. Racism works here in a similar way as it does in the USA, but it IS different and I would need a few more hours to explain how that is. Regardless, we have a very militarized police force, whose constitutional goal is to “keep order”, nevermind the safety of our citizens. In 2019, in only one of our states, Rio de Janeiro, about 2k people were killed by the police (however, this has a different impact here because our murder statistics are different). Today is supposed to be a big day for protesting, and if last week’s progressive protests are anything to go by, we’re expecting a lot of retaliation by the police. Even so, I hope this revolutionary energy picks up. Antirascism is antifascism.
a mixed race family was fucking terrorized in forks last night by a MOB bc the racists there accused them of being antifa so please keep your “charlie swan is a good cop” memes and cute small town aesthetics moodboards in the drafts thank u

me:
you can’t read a few text posts on tumblr and reblog a couple pictures of black lives matters and think you’re not racist. racism is a deeply engrained part of our culture - sometimes it’s not even conscious. you have to constantly question yourself. it’s pretty hard to unlearn 400+ years of institutional racism and in order for us to properly dismantle systems of injustice, we have to stop pretending we all aren’t part of the problem.
At emmett and rosalie's wedding there is just a table where the only occupant is a bear. No one discusses the bear. They couldn't find an actual one so it's just Edward is a costume. Anytime he tries to take it off he gets sprayed with a spray bottle my Esme. Half the wedding video is just Edward glaring.
