Hi, yes, this blog was made on impulse for the sake of me dumping all the hc and au ideas i constantly get for Orbot and Cubot. If you want, you can ask/submit your ideas too and I’ll post them here (with your credit of course). Most if not all posts will be put on the queue, which I believe is set to 3 posts a day max. So... About Orbot and Cubot

Did Eggman intentional program their AI to be the way they are or is AI develop a personality independently like a human? I'm no science wiz but I don't think Eggman would want to create incompetent robots to help him... right?

Good questions!

I feel like...it seemed like the version of Orbot from Unleashed was more capable than the Orbot and Cubot we know now. And Eggman got extremely furious at him by the end of the game, and then we never see that version of Orbot again. Even though it was obviously the attitude and such that made Eggman finally snap, perhaps when modifying/making new shape robots to be his lackeys, he intentionally made them less intellegent and/or less capable? Incompetence is irritating, but intelligently objecting to all the things you do is infuriating. Plus, having incompetent lackeys might let him frame his own mistakes on them because "they're the dumb ones I'm the smart one" or something.

Regarding whether they developed how they are or not, I personally would think that it wouldn't be much of an Artificial Intellegence if it didn't learn. I always thought that maybe there were specific parts hardcoded into them (to keep them loyal to the doctor, at the very least), and the rest of it was kind of learned and developed over time as they got more experience existing.

All of this is my opinion, of course! This is how I've interpreted it, I'm sure there's plenty more ways it can be taken.

Orbot will embroider his gloves on occassion. Sometimes when he's bored he will just pick up a needle and thread and work little designs into the leather. Sometimes it might be more traditional designs, flowers and plants and the like, other times he may get more creative with it. Either way, his gloves now have little works of art that he made, just for himself.

Orbot called Cubot “little brother” in a Sonic fan thing I watched and now I’m back to questioning which one was built first

Its really interesting because like. In Sonic Boom it is made very clear that Cubot is older, thanks to the existence of the Cubot prototypes. The Cubot series was created, finished, and abandoned, all before Orbot was made, as was stated in "Beyond the Valley of the Cubots".

However, in the mainline games, there was an Orbot (called "Ergo" by fans) in Sonic Unleashed, while the Orbot we know today and Cubot's first appearance wasn't until Sonic Colors. Now, it's unclear whether Ergo and Orbot are really seperate characters, or if Orbot was just heavily redesigned and recoded between games, but either way it shows that the idea for Orbot was before Cubot. So in Modern Sonic, Orbot is older than, or at least the same age as, Cubot.

Of course, all of this can change when you get into headcanons. If you've seen the lineage in my modern-verse ask blog, @ask-cueball, it goes "Cubot prototypes -> Ergo -> our Cubot -> Orbot". But again, that is heavily influenced by my own headcanons. Headcanons let you do whatever you want, canon or no.

Tl;dr - Simply going by what we know from canon, Cubot is older than Orbot in Sonic Boom, and Orbot is the same age as or older than Cubot in Modern Sonic.

Do you think since their hands are so sensitive, they'd either avoid, or try to hold hands more often?

I don’t think they’d avoid it, or at least not for that reason. Their gloves protect them from most overwhelming stimuli, so I don’t think it would cause them problems if they held hands. Their hands are likely the main part of their bodies for sensing touch, it wouldn’t make sense for them to take in most tactile data through their head or something, and that might make hand holding more intimate for them because of that? I’m not sure. But I don’t think they’d avoid holding hands because of the sensitivity. If they’re avoiding it, it’s probably either because Eggman doesn’t like when they do it or because one or both of them are too shy or embarrassed to grab the other’s hand.
