tonight, youâre content to lie here in your bed with his body curled up against yours, his face poised right where his breath tickles your neck, arm draped across your waist, and your fingers carding through his hair. for a moment there, you forget your status and slip, âi like you, seung.â
your breath catches in your throat, though you doubt he heard that. he sleeps so soundly, his chest rising and falling steadily. you never knew how mesmerizing it can be; to witness firsthand the way your presence transforms into a space where someone you admire can rest without resistance. your own mind gives into envy, smoothly lulling you into a land of dreams.
and heeseung smiles, his own confession sitting impatiently upon the tip of his tongue. not that he could blame his heart. itâd been waiting for this chance ever since the day your path crossed with his. surely, it can hold on for one more day.

i used to be an eric girly from the start, even if my eyes were glued to sunwoo from time to time, but thanks to a special fic dear to my heart, i ended up being a changmin girly and it was probably the best decision i took (sunwoo's still my wrecker tho)
when did you first start stanning the boyz?
i think i listened to 'boy' directly when the song came out, and brooo.. i was instantly interested in them. but i ended up detaching myself from them, until i was really, really crazy about them when 'reveal' came out (which is funny because i'm a no air et ddd enjoyer, should have checked these two sooner)
what is your favorite era of the boyz?
i want to say reveal era because that's what helped me reconnect with them in the first place, but if i'm being honest, i think maverick era is, to my mind, much more akin to my taste, so yea, maverick era is it (and drink it)

like many victims before him, he was just a reader. while he had an appreciation for all forms of literary art, it was the stories that stemmed from canon events, people, and universes that had his utmost interest. the concept of fanfiction was so cool, the way an imaginative mind can show their admiration for a masterpiece by adding complementary works.
(thatâs how sunwoo planned to lay it out for eric after he got too curious over all the open tabs on the olderâs laptop. turns out it only takes a spew of word vomit, a buy-one-take-one offer from the local pizzaria, and eleven story recos to recruit his roommate into the fold successfully. it hasnât produced the same results with his other friends, but heâll get there soon.)
heâs a sucker for fluffâwait, scratch that, heâs very passionate over the mushy, creepy-crawly inducing, soumersaulting side of romance. itâs like a puppy and their favorite toy; shuffle a few sweet scenarios his way, and heâll plop himself in a solitude corner to cover his mouth, giggle, maybe even deliver a small kick or two at the air. the difference between sunwoo and a floof is heâll take his time to pick out which parts to screenshot then type, backspace, consider being coherent, only to ramble about how much he loved it, and reblog it.
his own stories should have been a sort of love letter to the genre. but no, they had to be pieces of his villain arc.
spoiler alert: itâs your fault.
you, who seemingly consumes nothing but tragedy. your stories that lure innocent hearts in, only to traumatize them with your tear-jerking climaxes and shattered hearts as souvenirs. donât get sunwoo started on all the times heâs begged for a happy twist, only to spill another bucket of tears (and reviews) when you feign ignorance and publish another bittersweet chapter.
calling him petty is.. fair. itâs all a matter of preference; yours just happens to stand at the opposite end. but did that stop sunwoo from opening his own writing space under the guise of sharing his own cheesy tales with the community?
(obviously not.)
a large mountain of dust bunnies wips, a couple hundred followers, and several amazing mutuals later, sunwooâs yet to achieve his initial dream. between the brainstorms and breakdowns, heâs found himself less determined to change your taste in exchange for learning more about you.
like, you donât write angst because you have an acquired taste in making people feel hurt. you create all that art to make them feel, and it just so happens that sadness is your speciality. heâs discovered a few more things, such as you canât write without music blasting through your speaker, the paragraph alignment must be justified, and your ideas seemingly make more sense when you share them with someone.
âlet me see if i heard you right, which i hope i didnât..â you were doing this on purpose, he can read it through your muffled snicker. still, he plays the role of disappointmentânudging his glasses upwards and exhaling a deep sigh for the extra pinch of drama. â..you want to take jinnieâs pain, double it, then pass it to the half innocent second lead?â
sunwooâs never considered himself the funniest one in the room, let alone someone who can tickle othersâ sense of humor quickly. then your laughter plays through his laptopâs speakers, and all of a sudden, he feels otherwise. perhaps you were a siren in one of your past lives. itâd explain how you get him to minimize his draft tab, rest his head on his open palm, and enjoy the view unfolding behind the screen.
ânope, nuh uh. sit back up and pay for the damages.â sunwoo tries to scold you, but lacks the will to actually be grumpy. heâs caught in the way you laugh with your whole body, head tilted back and hands smacking your desk.
the low hum of your background music fills in the gaps of the silence. sometimes, sunwoo forgets youâre out of his reachâan easy mistake to make after having one too many video calls with you. as he watches you recover from your amusement, he catches himself slipping up again, silently wishing he was there to adjust your chair for you. so he could brush the baby hairs back and squeeze your aching sides.
âa sacrifice is necessary, ddeonu,â you argue on behalf your idea. âif iâm gonna give hyejin and hanbin a happy ending, someone needs to be sad. otherwise, everyoneâs gonna suffer. does that sound like a fair deal to you?â
sunwoo pouts and pretends to think about it. âfine, but only because theyâre my endgame.â
but is that the actual truth? or is it because his stomach does somersaults whenever he remembers that youâve only begun dabbling in merging the two genres because he asked? or maybe itâs that impulsive urge to make you the base of his musesâ personas every single time he opens a document? or could it be those times eric caught him feeling so giddy because of someone instead of something?
itâs a cliche and well-loved trope; the opposites falling for each other. and yet, sunwoo canât help himself from sneaking another glance at your profile before shifting to another open tab. heâs still got deadlines to meet, plotlines that are waiting to be unraveled, and your dulcet humming jumbling his thoughts.
itâs chaos; his type of chaos.
maybe itâs meant to be this way. perhaps he was destined to fall into this rabbit hole and traverse all the way to where he is now. or maybe all this analyzing and theorizing between the lines could be a side-effect from drowning in a tsunami of soulmate au fics.
how would sunwoo know? he too was a character in an incomplete story. maybe heâs not even a main character in yours, let alone the love interest. still, as he listens to you ramble about another potential plot hole in your thought process, he sneakily adds a comment for his writer.

itâs standard practice; checking in on him from time to time. and yet, all he can think about was how your voice chimes in his ears like the cute keychains adorning your bag. ten minutes of staring at his worksheet, callused fingers steadily roaming across the surface like an invisible highlighter, with no answer in sight can do that to the brain.
juyeon, he corrects you.. in his head. if the confidence he exhibited on the court and around his friends bled into his interactions with you, heâd ask why everyone else got the privilege of being called by their name. he doesnât mean to sound needy, not when heâs merely another tutee to you, but he canât refrain from hoping youâll say his name too.

for a moment, juyeon indulges himself in the idea that youâre deliberately shuffling across your seat to be closer to him. itâs a riskâdaydreaming about you when youâre right there, maneuvering his arm so you can read the rest of the text. rather than his heartâs pitter patters, he listens intently to the way you murmur in consideration.
