I did another one for @ask-pixelonceler No transparent or GIF versions since Pixel Studio hates me now so I’ll have to resort to screen-recording. Pixel boy! His colour palette was very relaxing (but difficult cause Onion skinning :’)) to work with and his Big Hat just brings a smile to my face whenever I look at his sillohoutte. No really this is probably my favourite one since Tuwol’s sprite animation. His big hat just brings a smile to my face.

Huge thanks to Vanilla for finding the Once-ler ref in the Green Eggs and Ham series that just came out!! This makes me SO happy. I’d like to hear everyone’s headcanons for this.

This is a building in Meepville. Can you buy Thneeds there? Is it one of the onceler’s branch offices? Or maybe it’s an office for his many lawyers and PR people? At what point during the onceler biggering phase could this have been? Interesting that the sign says ONCE-LER here, because in the book all the company signs said THNEEDS!

Alright class, let me break this down for you. Got a few handy diagrams and everything for all you visual learners out there.

Once-ler destiny is everything. A series of… hah. “Canon events”, if you will, that makes us who we are. It’s not just a set of guidelines, either. It’s the rulebook. Diverge from the path? Sorry, don’t pass go, don’t collect two hundred dollars. Or for those of you who don’t know Monopoly lingo, I'll make it real simple for you.

You aren't actually a Once-ler.

And if you’re a Once-ler— like, really a Once-ler— then you’ll eventually experience each and every single one of these chapters of your life. Some are good. Some are bad.

Some are very bad.

The beginning Once-lers typically leave home at an early age to make their way in the world. They'll find the truffula valley, make their first Thneed, and eventually get their business off the ground. It's not always easy, but it's almost certain to be a guaranteed success.

The middle Business is booming. A factory blooms like a metallic flower where there once was a cozy little cottage. Thneed production is in full swing. Stocks are through the roof. Pollution of the surrounding area and town increases. Everyone says you're too big to fail. Until you aren't.

The end This isn't a story that's supposed to have a happy ending. It's supposed to teach you a lesson. Drowning in the depths of your greed, you turn a blind eye to the destruction piling up around you until there are no trees left. The Lorax leaves. Your family leaves, retreating with your money and their carelessness. Your employees turn against you, burying you in endless lawsuits. You retreat into your vast, empty factory. But not forever. The townspeople in Thneedville build a wall to keep out the toxic wasteland you created. They sing every morning, waking you like a dystopian alarm clock. The years pass, and before you know it, you are old. Audrey is born, the catalyst for everything to come. Ted is born a few years later. As a teenager, the kid comes to ask you for the one thing you can offer that will ensure your redemption- the last truffula seed. He will take it, and the future will be bright. The wall around Thneedville will fall. ...Eventually, even the Lorax will come back. That is Once-ler destiny.

Why these three together? They’re the first three things I think of when someone asks me why I like the Onceler fandom so much. I really enjoy the open-sourced collaborative nature of the writing culture here ^_^ there’s always a sense of community whenever I see people work together to make stories by mashing their characters and world together like toys. Some of them get really creative with the explnataions for the crossovers too! I also really like how alot of stories here draw inspiration from the (1972) and (2012) source materials, it’s sweet seeing them honour the original work and reinventing it.

Eight of the paragraphs in this are about my experience with the Onceler fandom. I hope my teacher is happy 😇

The amount of joy I felt when I found out the Trufflu wiki is still available. Ever since the Onceler fandom wiki got deleted I’ve had a hole in my heart (hyperbole). Thronville/Thneedville High wiki is also still available!! Please archive if you can since now we know that these wikis are at risk of being shut down 🥲

I think this is going to turn into a Trufflu moodbord instead of a “Epxlain your Artistic Jouerney” moodboard, sorry, tcher. Kinda pissed now that I don’t have an easy quick access to my Oven Trio photo collection because the Onceler fandom wiki got deleted.

“Oh hey! I really want to include the different stages of LQler here! I love that guy’s design evolu- OH WAIT, I can’t access the info box with all the fancy categories, because the wiki that held that info box is GONE.”

So now I have to scroll manually through the blogs of the characters and authors.
