Real talk…the Lorax once-ler guy…..do you think the creators knew what they were doing when they made him..like the dude and this movie shows up randomly in like 2012 and then the girlies just spam tumblr with thirty shitposts for what feels like decades and dude suddenly become out nominated white boy of the month sexy man stuff…was that intentional on their part to wreck havoc like that? rlly fascinating phenomenon to me is when a character is extremely popular, and that popularity seems understandable enough because they've got something interesting going on, and then you look at the fandom and realize 99% of their fans don't actually care about engaging with any of the things that make them interesting and instead seem to be fans of an imaginary milquetoast version that exists solely for ship and/or angst content and is so far removed from the canon character they might as well be an unrelated OC at this point

this recent trend of teenagers using genAI chatbots to talk to fictional characters is fucking grim. what you should be doing is roleplaying on private messages with your friends until the lines between you & the characters begin to blur & you develop some very complex & confusing feelings for each other that culminate in a massive fallout you dont have the tools to process nor understand
