I just discovered this art for a limited edition of A Memory Called Empire, illustrated by Victo Ngai - it’s so beautiful!

I’ve had these character sketches sitting around for a while but… reading A Desolation Called Peace destroyed me so completely that I couldn’t clean them up till now, lol.

Just finished Raven Stratagem and I’m obsessed with this series, so here’s a Kel Cheris and her nine-eyed Jedao shadow.
Mahit Dzmare, Kel Cheris, and the troublesome fellows in their heads.
Combined prompts from @terminallyuninspired and @frumpkinspocketdimension for this one. Thanks for the requests!
started rereading Ninefox Gambit earlier this week and i'm just. having a lot of Thoughts and Feelings about… well, the whole thing, really, but right now specifically the contrast between, on the one hand, the hexarchate being powered by the ritual torture and execution of heretics*, and on the other hand, Cheris deciding to be polite to the servitor robots that no one else thinks of as sapient because it can't HURT to be polite to them, and ultimately socializing with and learning about and befriending them, and how it's the same aspect of her character that results in her having dangerously sympathetic thoughts towards (alleged) heretics. because she can't help but see everyone as at-least-potentially-a-person. including the mass murderer/Arch-Traitor she volunteered to have haunting her brain. anyway Kel Cheris is the best and i love her.
