It's great! All that I could ever ask for from a job honestly. Of course it's not much like the movies, but I get to do some pretty badass stuff, ahem, legally. Everyone on the team's been real nice too, so I'm thankful for that. Helps with the whole settling in.

What drew you to fiber analysis though? Seems like a pretty niche thing.

most of them have. not literally, but metaphorically. sometimes we have to walk on eggshells when we're around them.

ah, many people are inspired by tv shows. they do a lot of heavy lifting while to pursue people in law enforcement, more than we give them credit for.

parties are so rare in our line of work, i get you. and the ones held at the office, out of courtesy, are thinly veiled networking events. i don't attend them, unless i'm dragged to attend them.

i'm glad you like it here. it takes a toll on people, i mean, i wouldn't expect any less from working in such a morbid place. always nice to find a positive point from working here, aka, "do the badass stuff".

I'm with the Cyber Division, freshly employed about three months ago. Y'know, nerd on the 'puter basically. As much as I fancy the idea of getting my hands full of blood and guts, computers speak to me a lot more than corpses ever do.

It's good, a positive attitude. Much needed with all the awful stuff that passes through this place.

oh. i hardly cross paths with people from the cyber division, so i probably haven't seen you, especially considering the fact that you're new.

yes, that makes a lot of sense. it is quite morbid and gruesome to work in the forensic department.

well that is a brilliant edit. i do own headbands with kitty ears on them. but i wouldn't wear them at work. my coworkers have only recently stopped calling me a cat lady. [which i am and am proud of. but don't tell them i said that.]

hmm...if i had to tell you about the most interesting case that i can actually talk about, i would tell you about the case i worked on when i was a newbie. trials are pretty long y'know, so i can't really tell you much about the cases that haven't reached their time with the justice system yet, as i'm not really sure how much the civilians know.

there were four bodies, and all of them were related to one man. it took us really long to string the evidence together. because we weren't sure if it was the work of a serial killer or not, and at face value, the victims weren't related to each other, and had never talked to each other. they were only related to each other through the man. he was the common point.

he was a successful business-man. the first bodies we found were of three men, with their genitalia cut from their bodies and stuffed into their mouth. there was nothing in common between them, apart from the way they were killed. the last body found was of his wife. she was pregnant, and had her fetus ripped from their body. he had eaten her placenta. it was really morbid.

later we found out that he had killed his wife because he had been cheating on him with his ex-wife [who was working in the police force. and had divorced him because he was abusive, in every way you can think of]. he was cheating on his wife with one of the men he'd killed. one of the men knew about his affair, and the reasons for his divorce; and the victim was making posts about him online. and the third man was simply a witness. it was a poor attempt to make it seem like the work of a serial killer.

gosh i don't know how people think of the things that they do. i did not think i would have to investigate bodies with mushrooms growing out of them.

but it is quite fascinating; what the human body looks like to other people, and how they see inherently morbid potential; in the human bodies; but doable with enough motivation, of the wrong kind.

i've only recently started working with him, but no, he doesn't strike me as odd. he's a bit different, but he's always been different. so nobody knows if something is up with him; which in my opinion is a brilliant strategy.
