“Your Majesty… am I going to have to chokehold you to get this smoothie down your throat again or did you learn from last time. It strawberry banana~” call Vertoria what you want, but she is one determined being.
The grizzled man in front of her glared, unable to understand why this strange woman took such an interest in his wellbeing. "And just what makes you think the flavor makes a difference?!" He barked before remembering just how stubborn she could be.
"David..you know she will never relent..." the dark haired man in gold amd black armor reinforced as if reading his mind, the reminder forcing him to rethink.
"...Fine.." The king relented, wanting to avoid a greater irritation "but only a fucken sip.."
“You seemed to really hate the taste of the blueberry one earlier and i figured i would try fruit before trying more veggie based smoothies.” The halfbreed grinned, offering up the glass. A sip was still a sip and a win in her book. Call her what he wanted, but Vertoria was on a mission to make David take care of himself! And she wasn’t the only one either. If David had noticed, she had also gotten the staff and guards involved in making sure David had access to hydrating fluids and non perishable snacks at almost all times.
Not to mention, she had also gotten some of the smaller kids to try to get him to rest by claiming help with bad dreams and under the bed monsters. “… and where is that protection charm I gave you? Did you throw it out the window?”
"I still don't understand why you seem so infernus-bent on wasting your damn time seeing to my upkeep", he grumbled taking a slow sip of the drink in a manner intentionally exxagerated so there could be no doubt he had actually done so, "as for the charm, Altraeus has it, I dont need protecting."
In truth, despite his outward protests, some inner part of him appreciated the efforts of this strange woman and those who seemed to act to aid her. He had known of the efforts of some castle residents even before her arrival and though he never understood why they seemed to care, he never put much physical effort into resisting when he caught them trying to tend to him, as if his body craved the care in some reach of himself with which he was unfamiliar.
"My apologies, m'lady, he was quite insistent I take it with me on my last trip to the Scarphe outpost", the far more gentlemanly knight said producing the charm from under the collar of his chestpiece, "it is rather potent, I dare say it saved my life."
“You mean aside from the multiple petitions throughout the kingdom asking for your longevity? I think theres a few in the other kingdoms as well.” She hummed. It was literally one of the most common petitions out there and each one seemed to have hundreds if not thousands of signatures! David really was the most favored ruler in a long time.
“Hmmm, noted! I will make some more then! And it better be potent, It’s got some rather…. Hard to get materials put into it.” No one needed to know she was anything other than part demon spawn after all. If her gray skin and catlike eyes were any indication of her unholy nature. Something that had become more prominent the more she used her magic.
Now satisfied with the sip that David took, the halfbreed took her place at her little desk (that she 1 million percent set up herself) and started on paperwork. “Altraeus, did you ever manage to get someone to map out the underground for me? Oh! David theres someone who wants to challenge you in about an hour. Typical adventuring party of six, try not to kill too many of them.”
