The hybrid was cautious, moving to the lake and dipping her feet in immediately when she didn't see anyone. Only to pull them out a few moments later when she realized how cold the water was! “What? Treason against… I’m a bit confused here. Treason? In Hell? How is that possible?” That had honestly surprised and confused her. From what her studies had led her to believe, the pecking order of Hell was all about who could out-maneuver who, and who could pull together the most power and make the others believe it.

“In Hell most of the pecking order is decided by who has been manuvered out of their position save for one person who’s job is to judge and “keep the peace” so to speak and is considered the ruler of Hell. To commit treason you would have to do something to harm him, his immediate family or someone he considers close, which he hasn’t had in over 400 years save the occasional consort.“ Vertoria explained, rubbing her eyes a little bit. This was bad. “So what? They pinned the blame on me?”

“Yep, and with you wanted for treason that means Lucas is next in line as a replacement ruler. You know, since Hades is the only one who knows I exist.” Dee frowned. “He wants to declare war on the Angels and jump start the apocalypse in the realms that don’t have multiple gods watching over them-”

“And increase the numbers in Hell so he can go up against said gods.” Vertoria groaned. This was not going to end on a good note at all! “Look in the basement library, there should be a potion recipe in there somewhere to get Dad out of his “sleep” so he can fix this mess. And then go talk to You know who about getting our brother reincarnated.“ Vertoria sighed. He had gone way too far this time in trying to get her out of his way! Thankfully Dee could take care of this on their own easily enough.

“So… Dad will clear this up and hopefully I’ll be out of your hair soon.”

Lucas has been trying for decades to get me out of the running through any means nessecary, this time he’s taken it way too far which is grounds for reincarnation. Hopefully his human life will teach his spirit some humility, otherwise it would be a little too much fun to see him back in Hell.”

She blinked, clearly surprised. “Wait a minute. You’re the only one in your family who’s immortal? Shit, no wonder they’re going to such ridiculous lengths to get rid of you. If they could have just killed you, they would have already. Being immortal, though...fuck. I’d give you a watcher to keep shit like this from happening again, but... well, you know how it is with eldritch things. There’s always going to be a twist to it, and most of the time you don’t know what the twist is until it’s too late. Even I wouldn’t know, and I’m the fucking goddess. So that’s right out. "Nora… I got this.” Vertoria reassured, shooing her off. She was being groomed to be the future ruler of Hell for fucks sake! She couldn’t depend on others solving her problems for her the rest of all eternity. It was literally one of the main reasons she was being trained so intensely and had little to no contact with her siblings save for Dee.

“I would prefer you don’t get involved at all. This is my problem and I need to be able to fix it, or at least delegate responsibility to others to help fix it.” She explained, arms crossed and a slightly hurt expression on her face. Maybe Nora was used to taking care of everything for those she liked, Vertoria was going to make that not only difficult, but as impossible as she could make it. “I’m over 400 years old and have lived through more than others my age. I can handle my brother being an absolute bastard and trying to usurp my position in Hell.”

Nora held up her hands. “OK, hon. Just remember, even though it’s your problem, when they dumped you on my altar, they involved me, too. So when you decide how you want to deal with it, I can either freeze worlds or compete with Emma Peel, depending on how subtle you want me to be. Vertoria could have sworn she was much more careful when she had gone out that night, keeping her drink choices nice and simple with tea at her favorite cafe. Of course, she should have known better when she felt the presence of conscious shadows, and the feeling of dread as well. But it was a cafe for crying out loud! What was the worst that could happen?

Rose water. That’s what.

It was mere moments before Vertoria passed out, hardly having time to slur out a cry for help before she felt someone helping her up. No, no they were dragging her! By the time she had come to the half-breed had been completely restrained to the point she could hardly breathe, forget move! Or maybe the breathing was because she was on a fucking alter for fucks sake??? Okay, she just needed be calm and gather all the information she could on escaping. Now for the hard part, actually managing to keep calm! It wasn’t nessearily successful as she weighed around, biting down on the gag in her mouth. Most likely to keep her from calling for help. As soon as she found out who did this there was going to be hell!

“Well I’m only half demon sooooooo yeah. I like to think I’m more polite than the average hellion. As for clothing… At least a bra and a pair of panties would be nice. Nothing against the blanket, but it’s bulky and difficult to carry around.” Now unless it got cold again she would be just fine. But the comment about looking made her blush. It might be okay to look, but Vertoria was always shy when it came to having more than one romantic partner. Or having a new romantic partner in general!

When the connection was made, she shook her head at Erin and sat back to listen. This Lucas and Cain sounded like trouble. The kind of trouble she would be happy to let Stalker investigate. He may prefer time travelers, but he was happy to nosh on anything sapient if time travelers weren’t available.

“What? Treason against… I’m a bit confused here. Treason? In Hell? How is that possible?” That had honestly surprised and confused her. From what her studies had led her to believe, the pecking order of Hell was all about who could out-maneuver who, and who could pull together the most power and make the others believe it.

“In Hell most of the pecking order is decided by who has been manuvered out of their position save for one person who’s job is to judge and "keep the peace” so to speak and is considered the ruler of Hell. To commit treason you would have to do something to harm him, his immediate family or someone he considers close, which he hasn’t had in over 400 years save the occasional consort.“ Vertoria explained, rubbing her eyes a little bit. This was bad. "So what? They pinned the blame on me?”

“Yep, and with you wanted for treason that means Lucas is next in line as a replacement ruler. You know, since Hades is the only one who knows I exist.” Dee frowned. “He wants to declare war on the Angels and jump start the apocalypse in the realms that don’t have multiple gods watching over them-”

“And increase the numbers in Hell so he can go up against said gods.” Vertoria groaned. This was not going to end on a good note at all! “Look in the basement library, there should be a potion recipe in there somewhere to get Dad out of his "sleep” so he can fix this mess. And then go talk to You know who about getting our brother reincarnated.“ Vertoria sighed. He had gone way too far this time in trying to get her out of his way! Thankfully Dee could take care of this on their own easily enough.

"So… Dad will clear this up and hopefully I’ll be out of your hair soon.”

Nora nodded as she listened... at least until they got to the part about jump-starting the apocalypse. “They really don’t want to do that. They only THINK they do.” She grinned ferally. “I happen to know how to wake up a few beings that would eat their armies for a light pre-breakfast snack. If it came to an apocalypse, it might be worth waking them.” she shook her head, frowning. “Not sure which is worse, honestly. Being devoured or being enslaved by ... no, what am I saying? Being enslaved by demons is definitely worse. Better to be devoured and have it over with.”

She blinked and shook her head. “Wait. Your father is...yes! Wake him up! He and I need to talk!” She looked at Vertoria and added, “Mostly about how angry he’ll be - or if he’ll be angry at all - after I eat these Lucas and Cain knobs.
