Hi hello! I’ve been playing Pokémon team rocket edition lately and. I am so compelled by the oc I’ve made out of the protagonist.

This is from a canon divergent world where rocket is lowkey a political movement that got smeared by the media and resorted to criminal activity to survive, so rocket WILL seem softer when Zora talks about it. FEEL FREE TO HAVE CHARACTERS FROM OTHER WORLDS REACT TO ZORA AS THEY WOULD TO A ROCKET FROM THEIR OWN WORLD!

Oh yeah sure, that’s fair.

Basically, due to Lance’s control of the sacred beasts of Johto, the boss was looking for a way to match them, and the sacred birds had been roosting in known locations.

Actually capturing the birds would be way too conspicuous, especially with how much Lance had people turned against us. So the boss sent me, my rival, and the kid to each go find one of the birds. I went to find articuno. After I had gathered a feather from battling it, I had to go to where zapdos was because police had surrounded it and were hunting my rival down. One of the executives came to help too. They dealt with the cops and Lorelei while I got the feather from zapdos.

My babies are the first successful clones of the birds. I couldn’t use them to face Lance, because after the thing with Zapdos they banned anyone from challenging the champion alongside the birds because “they must have acquired them illegally because there’s only one of them” (which isn’t even true? They’re powerful Pokémon but they are individuals of a species pretty proveably)

Because I’m an admin of team rocket. One of the top, actually, I’m second only to the boss in battle skill, unless another member is hiding their prowess for some reason- which, fair, never show your hand unless you have to.

And before you ask I have quickly learned that most places team rocket is way worse than mine, I swear we just do secret business deals and shit we don’t hurt pokemon. Sure we’re manipulating a lot of stuff behind the scenes but like, it was to deal with a bad situation in the wake of conflict and stuff.

I’m still using this as an excuse to talk about zorua illusions. I did not grow up reading all I could about it to not talk about it.

So. Zorua aren’t as good at illusions as zoroark are- they just don’t have the same focus, or enough power behind it. That’s not a bad thing at all! They’re unevolved, and the power they do have suits them just fine. But they tend to have more slip ups. Illusions of humans might have weird eyes, or a tail, or sharp teeth. (Unfortunately this does mean weird kids get labeled as zorua by the more superstitious folks in Unova)

The thing is, despite a lot of fearmongering about zorua and zoroark seeking people out to trick and terrorize and torment and other words that don’t start with t, their illusions are primarily DEFENSIVE. they’re used to protect themselves and packmates. The strongest zoroark can weave an illusory domain over their entire territory, strong enough to completely baffle anyone that enters and turn them around so much they walk right back out. Though, ususally it takes multiple pack members to do such a thing, that’s only something the most skilled could do on their own.

Some people claim zorus can read minds to produce the perfect illusion to cause anguish, but it’s actually just that they’re good at reading their targets. The smallest reaction can lead to them calibrating their illusion to better elicit what they want from the target. They’re extremely intelligent for a non psychic type non legendary mon.

What's something small that makes you happy?

My first thought was “oh one of my Pokémon” but most of my babies are pretty big lol, and with how much of my life is dedicated to my Pokémon I wouldn’t consider them something small to me.

Hm. I guess… getting to ride on my Pokémon for traversal. It’s near ubiquitous, travel without Pokémon is way harder than with them, but something about being pressed up against my partners, trusting them to carry me as they trust me to guide them, it’s comfortable.
