I find it intresting how Vox's relationship with each of the Vee's reflects the relationship he wants with Alastor.
Valentino- His trophy wife. It is notable this is the first serious relationship he made after Alastor. You can see most with there relationships how he maps on the 1950s expectations on to them despite being a queer relationship. Out of the 2 vees Vox clearly 'manages' Val more. We see this in there first sceen together and it is a patter with them. Vox is shown to spend much more time managing, correct, and checking on Val's behavior. (Which he does corect Vel's behavior to just less often.) In the backflash he tells Alastor "but I'm much more forward thinking so it's in your in your best intrest to hear me out."
Vox fancys himself the brains of these relationships. He wants to play the head of the house man to his fem boy wifes. I think he cares about them both deeply but fundamentally he is of the mind that knows what's better for them than they do. (Ok well telling Val not to shoot the hotel is like objectively correct but he is clearly condescending as he does it.)
Velvette- It's a bit ironic that he seems to treat Vel more as a actual equal than Val. Like we get to see Vox simply hanging out in Vel's space when we never see Vox hanging out in Val's space.
He loves being mean with Vel we get to see this in speed run to redemption alot. He clearly cares for her alot and there relationship is wholly platonic. I think it is notable that when he is being protective of Vel he dose the shoulder thing.
He clearly trust Vel in away he doesn't trust Val. He sends her to the overlord meeting for a reason. He asks her to set up his very important party. All the repect he clearly has for her goes out the fuckin window when he decides actually I'm right and you have to do what I say period end of story.
We see this when he forces her to apologize infort of Carmilla even though he hadn't like actually properly talked to her about it befor hand. He also doesn't care that him teliporting away pisses her off even when they are on good terms. I think thats more him being thoughtless than trying to be cruel. He doesn't think of outhers.
Which is to say that no matter how much he loves and repects his partners his ego will never let him fully treat them as equals at least as he is now. I'm sure Alastor clocked this earily on and Val and Vel are now very aware of this about him.
