“You have that problem, too?” Sawyer asked incredulously. “My snapchat does the same thing! Like I’ll film a video and it will play the audio but the video will freeze on one spot. Or it just won’t film a video at all. It’s so annoying. Don’t feel bad for your addiction though, I think we all have one when it comes to snapchat.”

“Yes, all the time! It won’t connect to my face, so the filters will look weird, it’s kinda of funny sometimes, but other times I just look stupid. At least I’m not alone thank god, I thought I was the only one who was addicted, I’m glad I’m not alone, that would be sad.”

“Right? They taught us things like percentages and stuff when we all have tip calculators on our phones. I do think though that our memories are made to remember things that mean more to us. That’s why you remember song lyrics and not math equations. Because you like music, but don’t care so much for algebraic mentality.”

“I can do basic math, but anything after that, I have to use my calculator. Percentages and everything, I don’t remember those at all. I think that’s right too, because I remember the most random things, like I can’t remember what I ate yesterday for lunch, but I can remember what happened at sixth grade camp. The brain is so weird.”

“How long exactly has snapchat been working on these filters is my question. My second question is who even comes up with them? Some of them are interesting and I get but others I just question the sanity of the creators.”

“I don’t know who comes up with them, but they have to be a millionaire. So many people use snapchat every day, I would be so proud if I was the creator. Yeah, I agree, some of them are super confusing.”

“I don’t think I’ve had time to sit and read a book that I enjoy in months. Of course I read things I have to for work and so on, but I can’t even name the last me-time book I read. It is ironic how simple things in life such as reading a book you miss as you get older.”

“I agree, but that doesn’t sound fun. I would die if I couldn’t read for pleasure, I mean I think it’s the old thing that keeps me sane. Most of the time I read during breaks at work, or before I sleep, but most of the time before I fall asleep, I’ll get into the mode of rereading the same sentence five times, and it gets annoying,”

“Memory is a fickle thing. As for the math, it’s more about teaching you critical thinking skills, not equations that you’ll use everyday. History, however, is incredibly important. It’s the basis of our society! If we don’t study history, if we’re not able to truly understand it and apply it to the current day, we’ll never learn from our mistakes. We’d just be stuck in a loop of bad decisions.”

“I can remember history, it’s math that everyone told me I would need later on in life, but I’ve never actually needed it. It’s kind of upsetting that people would actually tell me I need it later on in life. I made it a point to remember a lot of it, and it’s made my brain, math mush.”

What’s the point of taking the picture if you’re just going to use a filter and make yourself look completely different? “It’s not that it makes us looking different, it’s just fun to play with the dorky filters, I mean there is one that can turn you into a dog, or a cat, or give you big eyes. I guess it’s just entertaining.”

❛❛God, I do the same thing with this app called Snow ? I find it way cuter than Snapchat somehow, although I’m still not sure why. I don’t get easily distracted when I’m working or at school, but my breaks are endless because of it, I just can’t stop. I might be addicted as well, is there any social network sort of rehab ? ❜❜

“I never really understood how I can remember lyrics to songs I haven’t heard in years, but I can’t remember what I ate for breakfast yesterday. Or what I learned in math class my sophomore year of high school. I do remember my teachers saying I’d need math, english, and history sometime in my life, but I’m twenty-one and haven’t needed it once. I mean, basic math sure, but graphs and things, I haven’t used once. Plus, if they wanted us to keep up with it, why did they put calculators on our phones?”

“Do you ever start to zone out, and you don’t realize you’re staring at someone when you’re doing it. I was getting coffee, and while I was waiting for the barista to call my name, I started to zone, it was early and I wasn’t fully awake. Well, when I finally realized I was zoning out, I saw this lady staring at me, and she looked really mad. I looked around, trying to figure what was wrong, then I see this huge muscly looking dude coming towards me. At this point I was thoroughly confused as to what I did, but before the huge man killed me, he recognized me from the bar, and he got all friendly. Then he asked why I had been staring at his girlfriend, and I went into this whole explanation as to zoning out, well moral of the story is, being a good bartender can save your life, kids.”

“Do you ever find yourself playing with snapchat filters for hours on end? I mean, I sit there and take videos on snapchat and save them, but never send them. I actually got yelled at because I was suppose to be paying attention at work, but instead i was trying to work one of the filters. And then there is the times where it doesn’t work, and it just randomly will work when you’re not expecting it. Or it will make you look lame, because you’re trying to do it and it’s not working, I’m a snapchatting fool, I think I have an addiction.”
