Those doe-eyes focus on her again. "That's what I'm working on. To fix what's broken, and make it whole." "You'd be doing what I couldn't do, then," Eurydice says slowly, eyes narrowing. "—as their child that they adopted to fix their broken marriage. You've raised my expectations for this song. Sing it for me." "No— it isn't finished," he stammers. "Am I not Lord Hades' daughter? Your Lady? Sing the song."

i started a 1930s/hollywood golden age one-shot that i don’t know if i’ll ever finish but here’s some headcanons
- hades is a producer, married to persephone. hermes is persephone’s manager/agent, and orpheus is another client of his - hades and persephone met when she was just up and coming and cast in one of his smaller productions; they were immediately in love - persephone’s fame grew from starring roles in multiple of hades’ films, propelling her into the spotlight. hades has pulled her up from nearly nothing but suddenly she’s gone nearly half the year filming on location - he’s a workaholic, obvs. - persephone is slightly bitter because as their marriage becomes estranged she blames it on him for basically making her a household name in the industry and her absences are all his fault - he agrees, but won’t admit it. they fight. - meanwhile orpheus is just getting his foot in the door in places and he meets a waitress at some big fancy hollywood party - a waitress who works for a catering company who usually caters to the events. her name is eurydice. - persephone in those gorgeous gowns and furs - also obligatory starring movie role where persephone plays cleopatra; this is where she finally blows up on hades who is just trying to fix things and it backfires hard - hollywood is not kind to ripping them both to shreds when they realise there’s trouble in paradise which only puts more strain on them. - if only there were an adorable musician so madly in love with a catering waitress that could remind them both how things used to be when they were young - golden age hollywood aesthetics - ???? - profit

I just feel like we're not talking enough about the pro-labor, pro-union, themes in Hadestown. My boy Orpheus is literally wearing a red bandana. He said you simply have to stand up, together, even when it's terrifying and you have never done it before. There are more of us than them. Even if it seems impossible we have hope, because we are standing in solidarity. You can only make demands of gods if you have your union behind you. And then you realise they aren't gods, and you can bargain.
In a local production of hadestown that i saw, when it came time for orpheus to sing epic III, the fates didnt give him his guitar back. You see, up on the platform by hades' office door, a shiny black guitar has been mounted on the wall throughout the whole play. It is this guitar that orpheus is given to play epic III on: hades' guitar. He once sang a song of love like orpheus, you know.
Why does my dad text like this??? Who taught him this??
