the in-game description from a caretaker memento:
"Crow diplomacy at its most hypothetical. Possibly signed in jest with one of the more rambunctious Divines. A price on the head of a false prophet, should one arise."
the antivan crows signing a politically legitimate contract with the pope to kill the antichrist should they arise is just about the funniest thing i've ever heard
july being tomorrow for the love of god this cant be happening.
does the body ALWAYS have to keep the score? maybe we could just have a friendly game this time. maybe we can just have fun without putting numbers on it
throwback to that one time i thought it was a good idea to change rivain’s battle music to pirates of the caribbean

Thinking about the Inquisitor and the sacrifice of their body time and time again.
The explosion of the orb forever marking them, changing them. Being forced in and out of the Fade physically. Solas grabbing the Inquisitor's hand by force to direct the power. The Mages or Templars channeling their power into and through their body (the Mark) to close the breach, the Anchor physically overcoming their body, slowly killing them, losing a part of their body.
This loss of bodily autonomy is so fascinating and so sad to me.
Their body literally becomes the battlefield and while they may be treated as a figure of divine will, what they actually experience is much closer to being sacrificed to sustain the world.
It makes me think of Solas who sacrificed his spirit self to take on a body - a body and mind used as a weapon. His body altered with the veil going up and then sacrificed once again to keep it up.
Both of them lose the same thing in different ways. The Inquisitor has it taken from them, their body and agency eroded by necessity and expectation. Solas gives it up, piece by piece, until there is no clear line between who he was and what he must become. Both of them, with their bodies, become a symbol of how the world is held together. And in the end, neither of them is allowed to remain whole.
[ID: A Scum Villain redraw of a pulp lesbian novel cover. Sha Hualing is lying down while wearing a very revealing outfit of red scarves, and she's twisting up with a grin to touch Liu Mingyan. Liu Mingyan is veiled and smiling; both are blushing. A block letter title says, "I Prefer Girls" End ID]

Quick Mingling drawing! I’ve always wanted to do some variation of this meme but didn’t know who to do it with. Then I remembered that these two exist.
It looks really dark wth
happy neil day (20th anniversary edition?!?!!)
Who remembers the famous "Don't touch that!" in BioWare games? It was in ME3, MEA, and DAI. DAtV was no exception.
After you complete Bellara's companion quest Echoes of the Past, you'll be able to interact with a relic in the Artifact Vault that the vault assistant says you can't touch. But since when did that stop anyone?
First interactions:
If Rook is a Veil Jumper Vault Assistant: Rook, you're a Veil Jumper! You should know not to touch an unknown relic. Vault Assistant: You're new here, so I'll ask politely: Don't touch the relics. Vault Assistant: Perhaps you didn't hear me. Please avoid contact with the relics. Vault Assistant: In theory, it's possible that if you touch that relic too many times, something very untoward could happen. You've been warned. Vault Assistant: Further ignorance of my instructions will result in this matter being elevated to the highest authority. Vault Assistant: Danger abounds across the land, and you still insist on touching the relic? Vault Assistant: If you keep meddling, that relic will activate at some point. Then you'll be sorry. Vault Assistant: Suppose that relic turns you into a nug? Or darkspawn? Or freezes your blood? Boils your brains? Vault Assistant: Is curiosity worth the risk? Vault Assistant: I consider myself to be a polite person. But patience wears thin for all of us. Please don't touch that. Vault Assistant: Stop. Touching. The relic!
After you've touched the relic more than 20 times:
Vault Assistant: Hmm. It does seem your incessant meddling has triggered an unknown energy in the relic. Vault Assistant: I advise you to cease said meddling.
After you've completed the Blood of Arlathan quest and touched the relic more than 37 times:
Vault Assistant: Wait a minute… something's happening with that relic. I believe it's activating. Vault Assistant: Careful. If you touch it one more time, I offer no guarantees about the outcome. Vault Assistant: You could kill everyone in this room. Or everyone in Arlathan Forest. Or worse, the entirety of Thedas. Vault Assistant: No! Run! Flee! We're all going to die!
BOOM! The table is filled with cheese.
Afterwards:
Vault Assistant: Ah. Well, then. So it produces large quantities of… dairy products. Vault Assistant: Which, of course, I knew all along. In fact, I was testing your persistence, Rook. Vault Assistant: Your enduring strength in the face of constant adversity—would you see it through to the end? Vault Assistant: And so you have. Now please never bother me again for the duration of your natural life.
