What is the deal with these fire challenge our kids are doing?
What drives me crazy today is that with all the extra activity these kids could be doing such as reading, watching TV, On Demand, Facebook, Twitter, PlayStation, studying etc these little idiots are now choosing to post fire challenges on FB where they are lighting themselves on fire.
To make matters worse (don't really know what can be worse than lighting yourself on fire) they now have the Vaseline challenge. Theses kids are making videos eating spoon fulls of Vaseline. I do not understand why our kids are subjecting themselves to such lunacy.
I have a thought, how about having a spelling challenge where you spell 10 words that nobody would think you can spell. Close your eyes give us the complete spelling and definition of the word you want to challenge your FB users. Have the challenge based on age, demographics, etc and show the world that the United States of America's children are not these shallow ignorant teens that we are displaying to the world via Social Networking.
Just my rant for the day...
Why conservatism can kiss my black ass!
I know after reading the title of this blog your mouth and eyes are wide open with the OMG expression. Well let me explain my feelings on why I say and feel this way. During the A&E suspension of Duck Dynasty's Phill Robertson I saw an out-cry of not only Duck Dynasty fans but also the Political and Religious right, all stating how suspending Phill Robertson from the show was a strike at our freedom of religion and free speech.
To be clear, I'm not surprised at the comments of Mr. Phil Robertson not by a long shot. It is Mr Robertson's belief that while Blacks in this country were forced to pick cotton under the threat of having the flesh ripped from their bodies from the whip of their oppressor, we were in fact somehow happy because we were singing in the fields. To be fair he stated he never saw blacks miss treated EVER living in Louisiana prior to the civil rights movement. Mr Robertson also believes that men should marry girls when they are 15 - 16 years of age.
These are "christian and American" values that conservatives like Ted Cruz, Bobby Jindal, Sara Palin and others stand shoulder to shoulder with. These are the values conservative groups rallied behind to get put back on the air. Even with all of these disgusting values, the outcry from the religious right was so widespread that A&E canceled the suspension and brought this statutory rape thinking, bigot back on the air?
Well, that's fine as long Hip-Hop gets the same playing field. Remember when Buju Banton made the record Boom Bye Bye? and stated that his reason behind the song was that homosexuality was a sin in his religion where were these religious groups that came out to support Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion? no where to be found. When Shabba Ranks was blasted and black balled from making music based on his stance on homosexuality, there was no support for these same freedoms from our political and religious groups.
To be 100% clear, although I do not side with homosexual acts nor am I homosexual, I do believe in civil rights of all people and yes that includes marriage equality. And I don't believe that any group of people should be demonized, ridiculed, attacked or discriminated against based on their personal lifestyle.
All I am saying is that if we are going to ban and discredit the hip-hop community and its citizens for their social and religious beliefs then those same censorship practices should apply across the board. It does bother me that a host of religious and political leaders fight to bring a man back to network television that preaches and believes that it is okay for a grown man to Marry a 15 year old child. What does that say about the future of Statutory Rape legislation for our country when our law makers things this is a messenger worth fighting for.
To sum up this article of thought, I challenge all political and gun rights conservatives to come to the rescue through fund raising, rallies, and moral support for any rapper that is victimized for making songs that underline their rights to bear arms, or express their "christian" values that may offend others. The same way they came out for George Zimmerman I'd like to see that same support for 50 Cent. The way they came out in support for Duck Dynasty that same support had better be extended to Love and Hip-Hop or House Wives of Atlanta.
I know this will NOT happen as the level of hypocrisy is astounding when it comes to people of color. Again, this is NOT a anti-gay article and I am not in anyway expressing that it should be okay for hip-hop artist to make derogatory comments against homosexuals nor is this a anti Phil Robertson article. This write-up is solely about the leveling the playing fields.

The Family of Clinton Allen demands the Clark Staller Grand Jury be re-convened due to retaliation and Irregularities
The family of Clinton Allen led by his mother Collette Flanagan and community groups will hold a demonstration at the Frank Crowley Courthouse to demand that the Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins re-convene the Clark Staller Grand Jury due to procedural irregularities and blatant retaliation.
Those irregularities include: 1. The only eyewitness to the shooting was not allowed to testify before the Grand Jury; 2. The Grand Jury only heard live testimony from detectives from the Dallas Police Department, James Hallum (DA's Office) and James Bagnall (DPD); 3. Detectives from the DPD and James Hallum discussed testimony from the hearing outside of the Grand Jury room, violating the secrecy policy; 4. Only days after a confrontation between Ms. Flanagan and an alcohol fueled Craig Watkins, the Grand Jury Returned a No-Bill. The Grand Jury for Clark Staller was fast-tracked in retaliation to a video taped confrontation between Ms. Flanagan and Craig Watkins during the Prairie View-Grambling weekend. During that confrontation, eye witnesses confirm that District Attorney Craig Watkins was under the influence of alcohol as he confronted the shooting victims mother. The family has filed a federal lawsuit against The Dallas Police Department, the City of Dallas, and Clark Staller for the shooting of Clinton Allen, and vows to make the lack of indictments for police shootings an election issue during the upcoming 2014 campaign. THIS IS WHAT OUR US GOVERNMENT HAS COME TO. WE HAVE NOT HAD A SHUT DOWN SINCE 1995!
Washington (CNN) -- For the first time in 17 years, the U.S. government shut down at 12:01 a.m. ET Tuesday after the House and the Senate couldn't agree on a spending bill to fund the government.
The two sides bickered and blamed each other for more than a week over Obamacare, the president's signature health care law. House Republicans insisted the spending bill include anti-Obamacare amendments. Senate Democrats were just as insistent that it didn't.
About an hour after the shutdown started, House members voted to reaffirm the Obamacare amendments they previously passed, while also requesting a conference with the Senate to work out their differences.
But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid already said he would not agree to such a meeting until the House presents a clean spending bill.
"We will not go to conference with a gun to our head," Reid said late Monday night.
"Tomorrow will be a bad day for government."
Hundreds of thousands furloughed
Federal employees who are considered essential will continue working. Those deemed non-essential -- more than 800,000 -- will be furloughed, unsure when they'll be able to work or get paid again.
Most furloughed federal workers are supposed to be out of their offices within four hours of the start of business Tuesday.
House Speaker John Boehner held a press conference overnight saying he hopes Senate will agree to meet.
When asked if he had a message for the 800,000 furloughed employees -- or if he has a plan to restore back pay to them -- Boehner responded, "The house has voted to keep the government open, but we also want basic fairness for all Americans under Obamacare."
He then walked away from the podium.
President Barack Obama issued a statement early Tuesday to military members and Department of Defense employees about the outcome of the shutdown.
"Those of you in uniform will remain on your normal duty status," the president said. "Congress has passed, and I am signing into law, legislation to make sure you get your paychecks on time. And we'll continue working to address any impact this shutdown has on you and your families."
"To all our DOD civilians—I know the days ahead could mean more uncertainty, including possible furloughs," the president added. "And I know this comes on top of the furloughs that many of you already endured this summer. You and your families deserve better than the dysfunction we're seeing in Congress. ... That's why I'll keep working to get Congress to reopen our government and get you back to work as soon as possible."
The cost of shutting down
The shutdown could cost the still-struggling U.S. economy about $1 billion a week in pay lost by furloughed federal workers. And that's only the tip of the iceberg.
While many agencies have reserve funds and contingency plans that would give them some short-term leeway, the economic loss would snowball as the shutdown continued.
The total economic impact is likely to be at least 10 times greater than the simple calculation of lost wages of federal workers, said Brian Kessler, economist with Moody's Analytics. His firm estimates that a three to four week shutdown will cost the economy about $55 billion.
The final hours
The shutdown appeared inevitable Monday night as House Republicans acknowledged they couldn't overcome Senate objections to a proposal that includes provisions aimed at derailing Obamacare.
Democratic Rep. Chris Van Hollen said the reason there wasn't a budget deal is because Republicans refused to negotiate months ago.
"They want to go to conference with 45 minutes left," Van Hollen said late Monday night. "That is a recipe for a government shutdown."
Legislative ping pong
For the second time Monday, the Senate rejected a House Republican effort to derail Obamacare by linking it to a proposal that would avert the shutdown.
The Senate voted to table House amendments that would have delayed the individual mandate in the health care law and eliminated health insurance premium subsidies for members of Congress, their staffs and the president.

Affordable Care Act (ACA)
Well folks the long awaited ACA Affordable Care Act will have open enrollment October 1st 2013. I must say for a person who has experienced the pitfalls of losing a job I can say that the biggest fear I had was not money, it was healthcare.
Like many Americans when I lost my job I felt helpless and lost, but after the first couple of days of moping around I decided to start my own Consulting practice which I was able to reconnect with old clients and was quickly able to get back on my feet financially.
Although I was making very good money, I had no insurance and caring for a family with 3 children that was priority. I had two kids with asthma, and 1 who was just coming into her women hood. Their Mother was a full time employee however her company offered no insurance that the kids could go under. So I looked into the cost of healthcare for a family and I will say that the prices were astronomical to say the least.
Needless to say, because of preexisting conditions the rates increased even higher than the initial quote and I could not afford the rates and therefore went without insurance until my one of my kids complained about pains in his knees from playing sports. Looking back on it now, its funny but not at the time, since I had no insurance I had to pull a Chris Rock move and tell my Son "drink some Robutussin and you'll feel better" lol...
While working in Mexico my Son needed Advair for his asthma, generally to get a reorder from his doctor required a doctors visit first. However, I was told that in Mexico I could get the same drug cheaper and without a doctors prescription which I ended doing and it was great, cheaper, and easier access.
The money as an independent Consultant was great, however every successful consultant knows that you have to save a good amount of your income to hold you over for those dry times. With the rising cost of healthcare I had to leave the consulting gig and return to a full time job mainly for the benefits. I remember saying to myself if I had better options available I would jump right on it!.
This was in 2007 when all of this took place, so I was overjoyed when President Barack H Obama was elected and promised to bring some form of universal healthcare to the U.S. to ease the cost of rising health insurance. While in 2005, 2010 and 2012 my Mother was hospitalized with no healthcare, I remember calling insurance companies to only be told they would deny her coverage because she had a preexisting condition and would have to be clear of any medical issues for a year or more first before granting her coverage.
So I understand the importance of this legislative achievement. Not to say that there will NOT be any problems, with all programs of this size we are bound to have issues in the beginning, but I will say I don't care! I am signing my Mom up for insurance and I will be paying for it myself!
So remember October 1st 2013 sign up! prices are as low as $68.00 per month, some rates were $250.00 per year and remember ITS THE LAW!.. www.healthcare.gov
Thank you President Barack H. Obama
Aint That a Bitch!
Just when you thought racism was making its way out the door there is always one johnny reb getting the hood and gown fitted for the next run. Former Rep Joe Walsh made history for some of the worst things you can say about ALL young black men.
Not just noting the fact that not ONE single Republican accepted the invitation to the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington. Besides the fact of being unemployed (FMR Rep Joe Walsh lost his job to Iraq war Vet Tammy Duckworth), and having his wife sue him in 2011 for back child support (totaling 117,437) the former law maker on Wednesday drafted a list of what he believes is ailing the Black race as a whole (because he has so much experience as being a Black in America).
Here is a preview of what he listed:
I have a dream that all black parents will have the right to choose where their kids attend school.
I have a dream that all black boys and girls will grow up with a father.
I have a dream that young black men will stop shooting other young black men.
I have a dream that all young black men will say "no" to gangs and to drugs.
I have a dream that all black young people will graduate from high school.
I have a dream that young black men won't become fathers until after they're married and they have a job.
I have a dream that young unmarried black women will say "no" to young black men who want to have sex.
I have a dream that today's black leadership will quit blaming racism and "the system" for what ails black America.
I have a dream that black America will take responsibility for improving their own lives.
I have a dream that one day black America will cease their dependency on the government plantation, which has enslaved them to lives of poverty, and instead depend on themselves, their families, their churches, and their communities.
All that was missing from this list was "I have a dream that all black Men could grow up to be good White Christian folk".This is outrageous not to mention disgusting in all instances. I bold all of the sections where "all" is injected as this former congressman is clearly out of touch with the black experience.
Now there maybe some people reading this and say well there is some truth to some of the sections. Let me clear the air for you, there are issues in the Black community as there are issues in the White community as there are issues in the Hispanic communities. For starters not all black men, or young black boys are into gangs and drug dealing.
Not all black men have children out of wedlock, and clearly from my understanding of the facts, not all prisons have only black prisoners. I could go down the list and name a series of black men that exemplifies what it is to be a responsible leader in their family and communities however that would be anecdotal.
Therefore I wont go there, however I do want to take the time to congratulate Carson Huey - You, an 11 year old physics major who is going to be a freshmen in college this year and clearly does not fall into the misguided on sided category of Mr Walsh's "dreams".
All in all I'm not mad but I will call a spade a spade and I believe for a man to label an entire race through the eyes of bigotry and ignorance is a racist, I just think that if Mr Walsh would wake up out of his "dream" he would have the opportunity to be a long lost friend "reality".
Congratulations Justin Timberlake this years 2013 VMA Michael Jackson Vanguard Award Recipient
In a night where entertainers are expected to bring the people their best in performance I will have to admit, Justin Timberlake didn't hold anything back. At this years 2013 VMA Music Award Justin Timberlake was awarded the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and I will say it was well deserved! His performance by far was the best that I've have seen from an artist in a very longtime. If you've missed his performance my advise is to jump on YouTube and query asap.
During his New York performance Justin (in a typical Michael Jackson style) didn't miss a beat, all the song selections where on point from: Suit n Tie (no Jay Z performance), Sexy Back, Take back the night, Cry Me A River, he jumped on a classic Fender Rhodes keyboard and rocked the interlude to Rock Ya Body in which he did some of the performance over Jay Z's Give it to me" as well as New York City'c party anthem Chic's Good Times track, and then out of the blue to everyone's surprised in front of all of New York Barclay's Center audience Justin went into a Michael Jackson Motown 25 moment and brought out NSYNC and rocked "Gone", and "Bye Bye" Wow!
I must say DO YOUR THING BOI that kid killed it! hands down, if you were not a believer before you will be one after seeing this performance. All this is without hype, but I will say to top it all off when he was awarded he didn't hesitate to show why he is a class act, Justin shared the award with his NSYNC partners.
White Chocolate has stuck again.
