ㅤㅤ five years old, the first day of kindergarten. Maureen had hung around the classroom waiting for Sidney to cry and want to leave, and she would have ― if it hadn’t been for tiny blonde Tatum coming over to talk about the bracelet she’d worn that first day. it was a good luck charm from her mom, a silver chain with a T charm hanging. Sidney wore a similar one, probably bought at the same place, her swinging charm an S.

ㅤㅤ ten years later, Dewey’s face is buried in his hand, mumbling curses over and over as Tatum tries, and fails, not to laugh about the fire hydrant she’d hit. ‘you’ll never get your license at this rate.‘ Sidney cries from the backseat, but she’s laughing too.

ㅤㅤ senior year, everything is supposed to be perfect. they’ll graduate together, go to college together, marry Billy and Stu and have the lives they always wanted. except, no, it doesn’t work out like that. Billy and Stu are arrested, Dewey is badly hurt, and Tatum is……dead? no. she’s not dead. she survived the attack, and sure she will have a few scars but she’s still there. she didn’t leave Sidney alone…..

ㅤㅤ she could never do something like that.
