Starting to get used to the Lomo’Instant camera. It helps to have good subjects. Sadly, I am almost out of the stash of film that came with the camera and I am as broke as ever.

For all its looks, the Lomo’Instant is quite robust for an instant camera. It only has two shutter speeds - 1/125 and B - but it has a nice range of apertures, defaulting to f16. The challenge for me will be to remember to use the different apertures at appropriate times. For example, this multiple exposure would have benefited greatly from having been shot at f11. I wound up having to mess around with it in my image editing software to punch it up. Why didn’t I try the same scene again? I likely will.
Mine, reblogged.

It’s a major prize! ;)
Yesterday evening I was informed that I won lomography.com’s Off the Grid: Zoe Sky Jordan x Lomography: Topiary contest from autumn, which I had forgotten all about. Often I just check their ongoing competitions page and enter what I can, and go on with my life. This, though, was very nice as the prize is a La Sardina camera (I have no idea which one, but I don’t care -- a cool wide-angle toy camera is a great thing to have and I’ve often thought about picking one of these up anyway), some Lomography film (which I love and use a lot), and a signed copy of Zoe Sky Jordan’s newest release.
Here’s the photo that won:
Thank you to the nice folks at Lomography USA and to Zoe Sky Jordan.
If I seem overly effusive over this, well, let’s just say I’ve had a rough few months: poor health, lots of doctor’s visits, money problems, crap like that. It’s nice to have something unexpectedly fun happen at the holidays. :)
