She was slightly startled when he popped up from behind the couch suddenly, but the sight of his was far more amusing then scary to say the least. She didn’t know if she’d ever get used to seeing her co-workers outside of their work environment. “Good morning. Yes, plenty thank you.” She chimed. The best she’d had in ages, but those words didn’t manage to slip from her lips. “And you? Didn’t mean to put you out of your own bed.” She apologized even if clearly it was all his choice.
She watched him walk to the kitchen, “Um…anything you’d normally make for yourself is fine.” She explained. There was no need to be more of an inconvenience even if nothing about his demeanor was making her feel like she was. The way he kept looking at her was…different. She walked over to a mirror and finished fixing her hair as best she could with her hands before following him.
“Though if you by any chance keep sugar cubes around one would be lovely.” She bit her lip a bit as she asked. It was a bit of a bad habit she had since she was little. That and sitting on counter tops.
Liam flipped the light switch on in the kitchen and began to make himself coffee. He smiled at her as she talked “It was no trouble at all, half the time I fall asleep on the couch anyways.” Which wasn’t a complete lie. He’d only done that a couple times but he was happy Cleo got the rest she needed.
He rummaged through his refrigerator, trying to decide what to make them for breakfast. ‘Wow, good job mate, first time a girl has slept in your bed without you in it and you’re still making her breakfast’ he thought. His old party boy habit crept into his thoughts every now and then, but this time it caught him off guard. He pushed the thoughts back as he pulled out some eggs.
“Alright then, how about eggs? I can make them any way you like them” He smiled softly at her. He set the eggs down and pulled out the jar where he kept his sugar cubes. He handed the whole thing to her. “All yours, love.”
If I Were You | F2F | Tom&Liam (flashback)
Tom’s face split into a wide grin as he was invited in. He mouthed a quick thank you and hurried in. Taking Liam’s gesture, he sat down on the couch, giving a satisfied sigh as he rested his feet on the coffee table. Always being the kind of person to make himself at home, he placed the laptop beside him and folded his hands behind his head. His brow perked up at the sound of coffee. He’d already had a mug with his morning paper, but Tom would never refuse a cuppa.
“Coffee? Brilliant, yeah I’ll have coff-” he cut off when Tom raised a finger to silence him. As the other man disappeared into what he assumed was the bedroom, Tom twisted around and leaned over the back of the couch to see what he was up to. Hang on, Liam was… talking to someone. Tom quietly ‘ooh-ed’ under his breath. He snickered, and by the time Liam returned, he had smothered his grin to hide the fact that he was giggling.
“Christ, yes it’s the MI6′s systems. I was doing paperwork. But cheers for saying it’s a “bit impressive”. Those are some bloody goodwords for it, yeah, or you know, disrespectful to Her RRRoyal Highness herself.” Tom said, pretending to be affronted, but rolling his Rs to prove he was only kidding, “All seriousness though, SIS is fucking nuts. I bet as soon as they find out who did it, as opposed to charging him, they’ll recruit him or something mad. I mean, no, don’t do that. But I swear to god, they do it with every kid they find that can shoot straight.”
Liam poured him a coffee and handed it to him. He noticed Tom trying to suppress a smile and gave him a small smile to relax him. He looked over at the laptop as he listened to him talk about SIS and sipped his coffee. “Can I, uh...can I see it?” he asked as he pointed to the laptop. Tom nodded, made another joke and handed Liam the computer. He opened the laptop to bright flashing pictures and lots of genitalia displayed on the screen.
Tom got up and sat next to Liam, laughing at Liam’s disgust. “Oh god” he retched. Suddenly the door opened and Liam’s one night stand stepped out, club dress back on and heels in hand. Liam slammed the laptop shut, eyes wide. He looked at Tom and then over to the girl. “I’m heading out, but I had a great time last night.” she told Liam, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek from behind. “Call me, we’ll do this again sometime.”
Liam awkwardly patted her arm and gave her a polite smile. “Yes absolutely. Have a great day darling.” She smiled back and bit his ear playfully before waving a goodbye to Tom and walked out the door. Liam’s face was a mixture of embarrassment and awkwardness. He didn’t dare open the laptop again but instead handed it to Tom and stood up to grab his suit jacket.
“Right then, let’s see about sneaking you into Kingsman, shall we?”

Cleo normally would’ve objected to anyone touching her head like this, but it was soothing and she did come here to rest. Feeling the light caress of his hand on her hair was the cherry on top of lulling her to sleep. Withing minuets she was out like a light. Considering she hand’t slept properly in about a week there was probably nothing that could wake her up right now.
That had to be the best night’s sleep she’d had without the aid of medication or alcohol since Allen’s death. By the time morning came around…or rather the afternoon, she blinked slowly sitting up to stretch her arms. She let out a light yawn before realizing she wasn’t on the couch still. She smiled a bit thankfully before sliding out of the bed and walking out of the room curiously looking for him or where he fell asleep. She wanted to thank him properly now that she’d had a good nights rest. She knew he’d say she didn’t owe him, but this was the best she’d felt in a while.
“Liam you around?” She called out softly while running her fingers through her hair trying to fix her bed-head.
Liam woke up on the couch to the sound of Cleo’s soft voice. He jolted slightly and noticed a bit of drool on his cheek. He wiped it off, rubbed his eyes, and sat up. She jumped back slightly as he hung his arms over the side. “Yes, good morning. Get enough rest?” he asked her. He didn’t realize how much they had slept as the sun was bright and shining into the living room. His hair stuck up slightly in the back and he knew there’s no way he’d be able to fix it until he had access to his room again.
He got up off the couch and walked around it to face her, stretching to get rid of his night’s aches. Maybe it was the lighting or maybe it was rose tinted glasses but in the morning light and his over sized clothes, Cleo was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. He counted himself lucky to see her like this and would probably never see this again.
“Can I get you anything to eat or drink?” he asked as he walked towards the kitchen.
If I Were You | F2F | Tom&Liam (flashback)
When the door opened, Tom’s desperate face dropped into a confused pout. For half a second, he worried he was in fact at the wrong door, but it was Bella’s brother. He was just wearing nothing but a pair of shorts. Wait - Tom double checked - yes, nothing but shorts. Before he could even open his mouth to go on, Liam had spoken up.
His brow furrowed to match his confused pout, before it clicked in his head.
“What- No, I’m not - !” He paused, considering it, “Well I mean there was that one time in Dorchester, but we’re just friends now- shit, no wait-” Tom’s face wrinkled as he shook his head. “No, not important!”
He held up the closed laptop, and opened up his eyes a little more to lay on a puppy dog eye effect, “My techies’ are all booked up, and I know you got some bloke locked up at that big ol’ mansion of yours, can’t you get me to him? Well, after you put clothes on. Or not, free country, but I reckon we’ll get a few looks.”
Liam rubbed the sleep out of his eyes as he listened to the man babble. His hangover was getting worse so he opened the door wide enough to let him in. “Uh, give me a minute, just come in for now.” he waved the guy in and closed it as he entered frantically. Liam motioned for Tom to sit down as he walked towards the kitchen. “Coffee, mate?” he asked as he poured himself and No Name in his bed a cup. He held up a finger when he heard Tom speak and quickly went into his room. He set the cup down and gently nudged the girl until she woke up.
“Hey, last night was great but unfortunately some of us have to work. Someone is here right now so drink your coffee in here and when you’re ready to get dressed and leave you can.” he told the girl gently before getting up, throwing on actual clothes, and rejoining his sister’s lover. “So, this is real computer trouble, yeah? Not just you looking at dirty things online of your own free will. Someone hacked you? Bit impressive if this person can hack into MI6.” he asked him, sitting down on the adjacent couch and taking a sip of his coffee.

Yup he was like Allen alright. What was up with guy’s and movies? She personally never saw much of the appeal herself, but sh guessed it was better then watching an action film she’d just pick apart before getting bored and falling asleep. “Alright.” She nodded taking a seat next to him on the couch as he restarted the movie for her. She hoped he wouldn’t get too disappointed when she falls asleep. At least not be like Allen and draw with markers on her.
She nodded and thanked him for the pillow and laid it on his lap before laying her head down on it. facing the screen. She probably should’ve asked first, but the movie night reminded her too much of her time with Allen and in the comfortable memory she acted instinctively. “Thanks again.” She yawned once more before snuggling into the pillow and getting comfortable, “I owe you one.” she chimed before he started back up the movie.
His hand instinctively went to her hair as she put the pillow in his lap and laid down. He always did this for Bella and Jess when they curled up on him the same way Cleo did just now. Everything about this moment felt right as he stroked her head and smiled down at her. “You don’t owe me anything, I’m always happy to help.” The movie started again but he could barely pay attention, he was so much more focused on Cleo. He took a few more sips, finishing off his beer, still stroking her hair, knowing very well it would put her sleep soon.
Within minutes Cleo’s breathing steadied out and she was very clearly asleep. He stopped rubbing her head and just sat there for a bit, in awe of this gorgeous woman who probably didn’t know how much she had made his night by just being here. He waited till the movie finished, making himself sleepy as well, before he turned it off and in one quick motion scooped her up in his arms and stood up. Her head rolled over into the crook of his neck as he stood and he could feel her soft breath on his neck and chest. He smiled a dorky little smile and carried her into his room. He laid her down and pulled the covers over her, watching as she instinctively curled into the bed and settled on the pillow. He pressed a light kiss on her cheek and turned off the light.
Liam closed the door quietly behind him and began to shut off the lights in the living room as well. He pulled a throw blanket from the other couch and laid out onto the one they had been sitting on, using the pillow Cleo had used for his own head now. It smelled faintly like her already and Liam smiled that dorky smile again as he drifted off to sleep.
If I Were You | F2F | Tom&Liam (flashback)
It was eleven in the morning when the MI6 database was hacked by what was, in 2008, affectionately named a “troll”. Some acne-faced kid with a wheeze and far too much time on their hands decided it would be a right laugh to clog the virtual comms with pornography. Tom, being the unfortunate little shit he was, had decided that for once, he would fill out a report at home as opposed to waiting to rush it in the five minutes before his next briefing at HQ. The one bloody time he took bloody initiative and the bloody universe froze his bloody laptop on some explicit website. He couldn’t even head into work - with all the techs working on the main computers, they wouldn’t take the time to fix his computer.
Well… he could ask some of Bells’ techies over at the fancy pants agency. But she couldn’t bring him to the tube, she was in Portugal dealing with some assassination or other. But… he did know Liam. And Liam was in town. As soon as the thought occurred to him, Thomas immediately scooped up the laptop, shoved it into his messenger bag, and scrambled outside to get a cab ride to Liam’s. He pounded on the door with an open hand, shouting the man’s name.
“Liam! There’s eleven dongs on my computer, get your wizard to fix it!”
Liam was still in bed when he heard a loud pounding on the door. His head was throbbing from the night before, faint memories of loud club music, alcohol and girls swirled in his head. The pounding on the door hurt his head and he rolled over to find a girl in his bed. She was passed out and turned away from him. He pulled up the sheets and saw they were both naked. Another random hook up with some girl he couldn’t remember the name of. He sighed, rubbed his eyes and got up, pulling shorts on and walked to his door. His eyes blurred from sleep as he pulled open the door to see the wanker who woke him up.
It was Tom, Bella’s most recent boyfriend. He’d met the guy a few times at family gatherings but when he remembered what Tom had been shouting, he realized Bella wasn’t with him. “Did you just say eleven dongs...on your computer...mate if you’re gay you might want to tell my sister first...”

It was nice to hear at least even if she wasn’t sure how true it was. If he meant that in the literal sense. Though his welcoming attitude right now with her leaned more towards it being truth. She felt the warmth of his welcome and it eased her own mind a bit. She folded her arms when he mentioned Merlin, “Yah I know. When the workaholic tell you that you’re working to hard that’s a sign even I can read.” She chimed. She nodded and wondered where he was going off to.
She walked over to the couch and saw the snacks and movie on. Curiously she picked up the movie case and started looking at it confused. It looked like one of those movies Allen had tried to get her to watch a long time ago. It didn’t look like he was too far into it which was good so she didn’t ruin that. It didn’t take too long for him to come back with clothes in his hands. “Thanks I’ll go change.” She replied with a simple shrug, “No, I think I’m fine.” She went into the nearest room and closed the door changing from her work clothes into the boxers and over-sized shirt that completely covered the boxers making her look pants-less. She stepped back into the living room looking down at herself, “I never realized you were so much bigger then me till now.” She chimed a bit scratching the back of her head sheepishly.
She walked back over to the couch and sat down, “If you wanna finish watching this you can. I’ll watch it too, I mean I don’t think I’ve seen it and you’ll hardly notice me here.” She promised. Plus if their was anything that could put her to sleep it was a movie apparently. “It’s a comedy right?”
He nodded at her reply and sat down on the couch while she changed. He paused the movie and took a sip of the beer he’d been drinking. When she came back out his heart raced a little. She was even more beautiful dressed down like this, wearing his clothes that were way too big for her. She commented how she too noticed just how much bigger he was than her and he laughed a little. She was the cutest thing he’d ever seen.
His eyes widened a little when she said she’d never seen this. “You’ve never seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail? Oh it’s hilarious, one of the most classic comedies of all time!” he beamed at her, starting the film over again. “We have to start at the beginning then.” he said excitedly. He set his drink and the remote down settled into his couch, one arm resting on top of the cushions behind them as he slouched. He handed her a pillow from his side of the couch. “Here, rest on this.”

Cleo vaguely wondered what was taking him so long to answer. She could faintly hear noise coming from inside so she knew he was home unless he just usually left his tv running while he was gone. Her question was soon answer when he opened the door and staring back at her was a gun to her face. She didn’t flinch however she was long past the point of guns scaring her, though she did have to suppress the urge to disarm him the moment she saw him.
She tilted her head a bit as he lowered the gun, “Don’t worry about it.” She spoke honestly. She was also a bit too tired to really care about it knowing he wasn’t going to actually shoot her. “I mean I probably should’ve called first.” She admitted. Also how could anyone be upset while looking at a man in his pajamas?
She walked inside once given the room and turned to look and see him trying to fix himself, “It’s fine, I mean it’s your home and it is kinda late for guest huh?” she hadn’t really thought about any of that before stopping by and intruding, “Hope I’m not interrupting anything.” She looked at him apologetically. “Yah, I’m fine.” She replied softly before yawning and childishly rubbing her eye. “Merlin told me I had to rest.” She explained and hesitated a moment before saying the rest, “And I kinda don’t wanna go home just yet, but if you’re busy I’ll go I understand you weren’t expecting company right now.”
He offered to take her coat which she handed to him and he hung up. “Please, it’s no trouble at all, you’re always welcome here” he smiled at her, coming to terms with the fact that she was actually here right now. She yawned and rubbed her eyes in the most innocent way possible and Liam melted. He had never seen Cleo more beautiful or adorable as she was right now. An image of them falling asleep together in his bed flashed through his mind. An arm around her waist...her back pressed firmly against him as they drifted off to sleep...
Liam blinked for a second to wake himself up from his daydream. “Seriously darling, you’re not intruding, I promise. And if Merlin says you need to rest you should probably listen to him” he chuckled. He motioned to the couch. “Please, make yourself at home, I’ll be right back.” He excused himself into his bedroom, quickly, making the bed and kicking himself for not doing that earlier. Then again he didn’t expect her to show up here. He pulled out one of his old tshirts and a clean pair of boxers. He came back out and handed them to her. “Here, in case you decide you want to be more comfortable. Can I get you something to eat or drink?” he asked as she took the clothes from him.

Much to Cleo’s dismay after a serious talk with Merlin about her recent choice of locking herself away from everyone and everything to think for a while she had been basically given orders to take a chill pill and go home. She’d been locked away about a week apparently…it certainly hadn’t felt that way, but the dates on the calendars didn’t lie. She’d also done more then enough catch-up work, in fact she was once again actually ahead of her work she’d been so diligent. The reason she was being sent home however was more for her health and apparently mental stability. Apparently it’s not healthy to do nothing but work, drink and eat. Eating only what could be delivered to her door, and drinking only what water and a bit of liquor she had stored away. She was certain out of the entire week she’d only slept about ten hours only gathered in small naps along the way.
None the less the decision was made and she would follow orders. It was oddly enough one of the things she did best despite her personality. She walked like a ghost through the halls, and did her best to avoid contact with anyone. The last thing she wanted or needed to hear were the, “How’ve you been’s” and the, “Where have you been’s” or worse, “Are you ok?”. She looked tired despite her effort to freshen herself up a bit before heading home so she knew someone was bound to comment on it if given the chance. She didn’t want to talk to just anyone right now in fact there were only a select few right now who would be able to stop her in her tracks right now long enough to get any sort of response from her. There were only a handful o faces she wanted to see.
Once she was in the cab heading back home from HQ she stopped and yawned actually thinking once again about what she was doing. It’d done her some good just being lost in her own thoughts to find herself once again, but what difference would it be between going home and staying at work? She’d still be alone and she still wouldn’t rest. She didn’t know what other motive then that possessed her to tell the driver a different address, or even why she choose the address she did. What was done was done however and once she arrived she paid the cab driver and found herself knocking on the door in the same rhythmic fashion as always if not a tad slower due to her fatigue, and hoping he was home. It’d be a shame to have come all this way for nothing after all.
Liam hadn’t stopped thinking about Cleo since that night they had dinner. He kept this fond memory of her in the back of his mind as he worked throughout the week. He checked in with Arthur and Merlin, giving them all the info he gathered in Prague then told them he was taking a little staycation at home and to call him if they needed anything else. He went and stayed with his mother for a couple days, helping her around the house and just generally relaxing. He went back to his apartment and decided to tidy up a bit. He cleaned and folded laundry and dusted the living room.
With nothing better to do, he decided to throw on pajama bottoms and remove his shirt. He needed a lazy night in to just watch telly and gorge on snacks. He was an hour into a Monty Python marathon when he heard a knock on his door. Odd, he thought, I wasn’t expecting any visitors. He licked his fingers clean and wiped them on his pants. He got up and grabbed his gun, just to be safe. He hovered at the door for a moment, listening to the other side for the sound of a click. He ripped the door wide open and held his gun up to see Cleo’s face. Of all people, she was one of the last people he expected to be standing there. He dropped the gun, a little lost for words. “Cleo, oh god, I’m sorry, I didn’t expect to see you, please, come in.” He stepped aside, giving her room to walk in.
He put the gun on a nearby table and fixed his hair, which was a little messy from laying on his couch. She turned and looked at him and he suddenly realized he was shirtless. “I look a right mess, I’m sorry, I was just having a lazy night in. Everything alright?”

Dinner for Two || F2F || Liam & Cleo
Without even realizing it a soft smile has graced her lips as she watched the man before her practically gush of his mother and the time spent with her. “Sounds lovely.” She chimed nodding along in agreement. Their whole family was pretty great for most people’s standards. They had built quite the legacy already and she had no doubt it would continue.
Something she could still pride herself in when it came to her drinking was she knew when enough was enough and to cut herself off. Thanks an experiment with Morgana she knew how much was to much and made sure never to hit that point. She set the empty glass down and scooted it away from herself signaling she was done for the night. “Ah, I suppose that’s the trick for everyone aye? I have no doubts you will.” She replied her smile yet to fade from her lips until he returned the question back at her causing her to blink and bite her lip.
“That’s…complicated.” She finally managed to get out. “I’ve nothing against having a family in fact it might be nice. I was raised believing family means everything and if I still had any there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for them. But we live in a dangerous world, and I do not think I could bare to outlive anyone else so precious.” She admitted in a vulnerable tone. Her family even those she thinks as family have a knack for dying on her. His next question wasn’t a surprise because ,while not phrased in that way, was something she’d been wondering about since the moment Lancelot passed away. “I don’t know…This might sound dreary, but I never imagined outliving my purpose in life. Now that I have…twice, I’m a little lost for an answer. My personal wants haven’t ever been an option.” She shrugged her eyes more zoned out in thought then actually looking at him anymore.
She would blame most of her loose lips on this topic to the liquor in the morning, but she also didn’t want to dive much deeper. Her mind was a dark place and there was no reason to drag him there, so she stretched and yawned before standing up. “Thanks for dinner it was amazing.” She chimed with a painted smile on her lips. “I’ll have to see what other foreign dishes you’re good at another time.”
Liam nodded as he listened to her, pleasantly surprised at her response about family. He thought about Thomas and immediately understood what she meant. She stood up and he followed suit, noticing the time. “Of course, it was an absolutely pleasure!” he exclaimed, putting his glass down and walked over to the chair he had set her coat on. He handed it to her and watched her put it on at the door. He took her hand in his and planted a gentle kiss on top of it.
“Thank you again for your excellent company. I’m always happy to cook for you, Cleo.” he told her, smiling. He was sad to see her go but knew it was time for her to head out. It was too early to try to make any more moves on her and thought it best to simply wish her a good night. “Get home safely, call me if you need me.” he waved as she slipped out the door. She turned back, returned his wave, and was soon gone from his view. He closed the door and turned back to look around his apartment. He looked at the dirty dishes in the sink and empty glasses at the coffee table and sighed heavily. He smiled as he cleaned everything up, replaying every little moment from their night and hoped they could do it again soon.
Well...
It’s good to be back. Sort of.
Good man, nice to see we made it back around the same time. We’ll have to swap mission stories sometime soon
Dinner for Two || F2F || Liam & Cleo
Cleo sat the sipped on her drink as she listened to him talk. He was right the vast majority of everything he said she already knew except little playful tidbits like him being a momma’s boy. She vaguely wondered his his mother was like. It was often hard for her to imagine how other people grew up compared to herself, “What is she like? Your Mother?” She asked a bit bashfully about her curiosity. She knew how her mother was…but she never liked her mother, she wondered what possibly a mother should’ve been like. She did garner and keep his affection after all.
Cleo was reaching the point in her drinking where she lost her filter. She tended to ask and say whatever came to mind, which honestly most people would partially prefer. At least she sounded like she cared to know things. “Oh that’ll be nice. Well for her, babies scare me they are just so fragile.” she scrunched up her nose at the thought. She was always afraid she’d somehow break a baby. Tender or gentle weren’t words usually associated with her. “Oh I saw she’s deciding to name them Thomas and Allen. Guess should’ve guessed.” she chimed. “I think you’ll be a fine uncle.” She added finishing off her drink once again, “Have you thought about having your own?”
Liam rubbed his head at the thought of his mother. “Mum, oh god, she’s the most amazing person. Taught me everything I know about different fighting styles. I wouldn’t have started working at MI6 if it wasn’t for her.” he told her, reminiscing about him and his mom training together when he was a boy. It brought a smile to his face. He started to finish off his drink, leaving maybe a sip left as she spoke about the twins. He nodded when she mentioned their names. “Yep, Thomas and Allen, they’re gonna be great little lads.” He finished it completely as she asked her final question.
“Me? Oh absolutely, but it’s all about settling down with the right girl.” he replied, a twinkle in his eye. He smiled as he poured them what he decided was their last drink of the night. “Sounds like you’re not too interested in starting a family then” he chuckled. “So if you don’t want kids, tell me, what do you want, if you say had to retire from Kingsman, where would you go? Who would you want to be?”
Dinner for Two || F2F || Liam & Cleo
Cleo nodded, though she had no problem with the table it wasn’t like it was uncomfortable. She sat down beside him and turned her body to face him as he refilled her glass. She made a mental tally of how much she was drinking she did after all need to still get home tonight.
She smiled lightly at his question and shook her head, “No, not at all. You know me if I were bored I’d be at the door by now.” a light grin tugged on her lips. Se tilted her head in thought however searching for a topic. She wasn’t good at small talk, never was. “Talking has never been a strong suit however…movies put me to sleep…I don’t think I’m a good dinner guest to be honest.” She shrugged nonchalantly as she took another few sips of her drink. “You’re the better conversationalist, tell me about you.” She suggested.
Liam raised his eyebrows when she said that. “Me? Well there isn’t too much to tell that isn’t already common knowledge. I’m a Cambridge boy, I studied law and now I’m here.” he answered her, looking down at his glass before taking a swig. “My life is mostly my job and taking care of my family. I’m embarrassed to say it, but I’m an absolutely momma’s boy.” he chuckled. Which reminded him to stop by and take her to lunch tomorrow and check in with her. His mum hated when he didn’t talk to her after a mission, made her think he never came back.
His drink had barely begun to affect him, but he could feel a warmth begin to flow through him as he finished his drink and poured himself another. “And you know, once the twins show up I’ll be a full time uncle.” he smiled. He couldn’t wait to see their little faces, the spitting images of Bella and Thomas. They were going to be perfect little angels.
Dinner for Two || F2F || Liam & Cleo
Cleo almost instinctively pulled her hand away from him when he rested his on hers. Not that she didn’t want to be touched…ok that actually is a part of it, but more of it she just wasn’t used to it except from certain people. She simply looked down at their hands and nodded, “It’s alright…” She trailed off. Because no amount of wishful thinking or sorrow would change things. She wouldn’t know how or what to ask for even if she did take up his offer.
She watched him move about once again and nodded when he mentioned her drink. “You certainly don’t have to ask me twice.” She smirked. Now she was especially glad she’d brought it.
Liam opened the bottle and poured both of them a glass. “Why don’t we move the sofa, no need to stay sitting at the table, right?” he asked as he walked over to the couch. She got up and followed him over, taking the drink and downing it. He happily poured her another while cradling his own.
“So, anything else you want to talk about? Or have I bored you enough with my conversation.” he joked. He could tell earlier she was slightly uncomfortable with him touching her hand earlier and decided that was probably as close to touching her that he was going to get for the rest of the night.
Dinner for Two || F2F || Liam & Cleo
Cleo looked back down at the cake finally take a bit out of it. As good as it tasted it didn’t ease her mind. That wasn’t what she wanted to hear. That wasn’t a solution for her. Just not being able to cope wasn’t an option for her. It had never been an option for her. “This place demands that you do. And in your case you must offer a replacement.” She stated plainly. She should be more sensitive to his feelings, but that wasn’t a skill of hers she was particularly good at. “Never mind. Perhaps my methods are best anyways.” she shrugged finishing off her drink faster then casual manners should allow.
“Yes…” She nodded at his question, though she didn’t understand why he asked. She thought everyone knew that she adored Allen. That her love for him was platonic and that of the older brother she’d lost when he picked her up. Plus Allen had actual love interests that once again she assumed everyone knew about. “He saved me…in many ways. I’m angry I was never able to return the favor especially when he needed it most.” She shrugged taking another bite. It only hurt this much because she cared…because she believed in him. If she stopped giving out bits of her heart she won’t have to worry about them turning to dust. Not like many believed she had a heart to give anyways. She knew now however that this pain would be as long lasting as Leo’s, while time may let it fade it’ll linger in her till her last breath.
Liam nodded and placed his hand on hers. “I’m awfully sorry for you loss, Cleo. If you need anything please don’t hesitate to ask.” His hand lingered on hers a moment too long before he let go. He picked up his empty plate and walked into the kitchen to put it in the sink. He would take care of the dishes after she had gone. It’s not polite to make a guest wait. He brought out two fresh glasses and picked up the bottle she had brought with her.
“I think it’s time for a real drink, yeah?”
