Reactions to the Malec kiss.
I wanna say thanks to all the Idols who made queer kpop fans feel welcome. Like srsly. I am überfknthankful for your support, especially seeing how risky it is to voice out your support for us. Thank you.
Idols who are openly supportive of the lgbtqipa community:
JYJ:
Junsu: “Frankly, I heard that a lot of overseas fans still don’t know that I was the main character in “TARANTALLEGRA” because of this style, and they reacted, “He is cool but is he gay?” (laugh). I am not gay, but on the other side, I feel good when hearing comments like that. Doesn’t matter whether I am actually gay or not, being able to show a diverse image to the public is absolutely a big plus for an artist.”
**also Jaejoong and Yoochun as well as Junsu are good friends with Tony Hong who is as you might know a gay korean actor.
*** also thanks to Tony Hong for being a role model and coming out in an entertainment industry as harsh and unforgiving as the korean one. You are brave dude and good inspiration to everyone who’s still afraid and in the closet.
Shinhwa:
Kim Dongwan:
Dongwan in his Naver memolog (in response to the union of mothers who are a group who are against the positive portrayal of homosexuality in the media. It was a group first appearing because of the kdrama Life is beautiful.): “Homosexuals are also children of parents. There isn’t any life that isn’t precious. This advertisement is as good as using a knife to stab the parents of homosexuals who are somewhere out there, As good as driving the homosexuals, who want to be under daylight, towards darkness.I’m heterosexual and can’t fully understand homosexuality. But I know for sure homosexuality is not an illness, nor is it toxic. It does not need treatment or medication. Homosexuals are people who, since they were born, have been living difficult lives that others cannot understand. What we should do is not to persecute or drive them out, But to help them not to live the wrong way in darkness, and to give them our understanding. The problem with this incident is not the union’s ignorance, Just like what the writer Kim Soo Hyun said The problem lies with the media, where even major newspapers can accept absurd advertisements as long as they are paid. As always…“
Super Junior:
Kim Heechul: Though a handful of SuJu Members have already spoken up about the matter, the most prominent of them is Heenim. He’s discussed the matter of director Kim Jho Kwang-soo, who officially married his long-time boyfriend Kim Seong-hwan, on his radio show and was very open about his thoughts over gay marriage saying that “Love is a thing between two people” and that one “shouldn’t pay too much mind to hurtful words coming from the outside world because it could break two people, who love eachother dearly, apart.”
Choi Siwon: (not supportive until now but he’s apologized and reflected on his behaviour and that’s much more than what you’ll get from most people who have made homophobe comments before soo..)
Eventhough Siwon shared several homophobe tweets on twitter by some american reverend who had spoken up against legalized gay marriage he’s had the guts to apologize for doing so. That doesn’t mean he’s okay with homosexuality but he’s had atleast enough good core in him to reflect on himself and aplogize, tweeting:
"I apologize for my inconsiderate choice to retweet Rev. Piper’s tweet,The reason I echoed Rev. Piper’s tweet was because I wished to voice a plurality of opinions. However, now I realize that my comments were hurtful to those I hold dearest; my fans and their families. I am truly sorry. My judgment was insensitive, thoughtless and ill-conceived. I will do my best to learn from my mistakes and reflect on my faith. I thank everyone for their support and understanding.”
SHINee:
Kim Jonghyun: He reacted on twitter towards a post of trans and bisexual university student Kim Eunah who was outraged over the hurtful comments Kim Jho Kwangsoo were receiving over the news of his wedding. She posted:” I am not okay, not at peace at any moment, whichever name I am being called. Today’s Korean society not only can’t enact an anti-discrimination law, but discriminates against sexual minorities on a daily basis, throws rampant unfair criticism and hatred towards females, exploits the young generation, forces college students to be absorbed with employment instead of academics. Which name should I be called in order to be at ease?“
Jonghyun was very understanding and replied with: “I support you for speaking out that different doesn’t mean wrong.”
2AM:
Jo Kwon:
Not only did he portray Adam aka Felicia in drag in Priscilla: Queen of the desert, he also made it very clear that all of us are foremost human before we are anything else stating: “You could think that it is just a gay show from the poster or pictures. However, our musical ‘Priscilla’ is not just a musical that portrays the homosexual and transgenders views, but also a sincere musical that portrays family, friendship, love, paternal love, and emotions…“ shutting all the pretentious homophobes up with ease.
BIGBANG:
G-DRAGON:
A fanboy asked GD on his pholar peace minus one account to show some love for lgbt community
the fan wrote: “Hyong support our country’s LGBT please, fighting! Handsome man!”
GD Replied with: “#rainbow_lasts_4ever”
2ne1:
CL:
ELLE: “You have such a big gay following. Do you know about that?“ CL: “Actually yeah. And lesbians too. And drag queens. I love them! I have so many gay friends and I love them so much because they’re fun.“
BTS:
Rapmon: He posted a tweet on twitter regarding the song Same Love by Macklemore: “It’s Rap Monster. A song about homosexuality. I heard this song before but I didn’t know the lyrics, now I know them and I like the song twice as much. I recommend Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Same Love.”
Noh Hongchul:
He’s apparently real close to Kim Jho Kwangsoo and didn’t come to the wedding of Kim and his boyfriend because he had an overlapping schedule:
Kim Jho Kwangsoo: “The first time I met Noh Hong Chul when was he was hosting “Do Dream”. We talked a lot and we became closer afterward and we contact each other sometimes. He said he’d come to the wedding as long as it’s not on a Saturday because he has a live broadcast on that day. Unfortunately, our wedding is on September 9th which is a Saturday, so he won’t be able to come. Since he couldn’t attend the wedding, he said he wanted to find another way to help us, so he participated to the trailer.”
** Kim Jho Kwangsoo’s wedding trailer starring: Kim Kkot Bi, Park Hee Bon, Baek Jae Ho, Kim Lee Hop, percussion group Rapercussion, magician Kim Kwang Joong and about thirty ordinary people who came spontanuously after a roll call made on social networks such as Twitter and Facebook.
K-Drama’s and other Media Appearances:
Movie/ The King and The Clown: I am pretty much sure that most of you all know this movie, at least its name lmao it’s basically the most successful movie ever soo.. but anyways.. short description from seoulbeats: The story is set during the late 15th century of Joseon Dynasty under the reign of King Yeon-san (Jeon Jin-yeong) and centers around two street acrobat performers: Jang-saeng (Gam Woo-seong) and Gong-gil (Lee Jun-ki) otherwise known as clowns during that period. Gong-gil is known for his feminine appearance and plays female roles in their acts. Due to an unfortunate event and a accidental murder, the pair flees to the capital Hanyang (now known as Seoul) and joins with three other male performers to form a team. In order to make a living the group performs a parody, making fun of the King as well as his infamous concubine Jang Nok-su (Kang Seong-yeon). This of course gets them into trouble and arrested, however they are given another chance: if they can make the King laugh with their performance then their execution will not be carried out. In the end not only does the King become especially impressed, he is also fascinated with Gong-gil’s presence. The King orders the group to stay and they become performers in the royal palace. However, as the King’s affection grows for Gong-gil so does Jang-saeng and Jang Nok-su’s jealousy and a series of unfortunate happenings unwrap.

Kdrama/Life is Beautiful:
This is one kdrama I am especially fond of and really wished would get more recognition. I know it has some sappy lines and crappy slapstick moments (like all kdrama’s have lets be honest here) but the plot is real good and eventhough the show’s got alot of criticism due to its homosexual love interest it was an important first step in the right direction.
Short description from wikipedia: The story follows the family’s everyday lives and conflicts, including oldest daughter Ji-hye’s marital problems with her husband Soo-il (Lee Min-woo); younger son Ho-sub’s pursuit of his mother’s assistant, Yeon-joo (Nam Sang-mi); and oldest son Tae-sub’s romantic pairing with divorced professor Kyung-soo (Lee Sang-woo), whose homosexual relationship their families react to while addressing issues of personal, social, and familial acceptance, leading to, finally, love and understanding.
Kdrama/Reply 1997:
Who doesn’t know this?! Like?? Yes… I know all of you do! Seeing it stars Lee Howon aka Hoya (infinite) as well as Jung Eunji (APink) and Seo Inguk
In case some of you don’t know it (who am I kiddin theres no kpop fan who doesnt lmao) but anyways here’s a short wiki plot description:
The drama centers on the lives of six friends in Busan, as the timeline moves back and forth between their past as 18-year-old high schoolers in 1997 and their present as 33-year-olds at their high school reunion dinner in 2012, where one couple will announce that they’re getting married.
** Character Kang Joonhee is Yoon-jae’s best friend, who suddenly starts to spend a lot of time with Shi-won. Joon-hee is gentle and sweet, and loves to dance. He also harbors the secret that he’s gay and is in love with Yoon-jae (ahdkfsdndnnfhbslnf I ship em so hard)
MV/ Please Don’t:
I dont even have words for how much I love this MV like damn it caused such a huge uproar but it was so fkn good and so damn important.. just THANK YOU K:WILL FOR DOING THIS AND ALSO THANKS FOR MAKING INGUK STAR IN THINS *SOBS*
Note: I know there has been alot of other appearances and stuff but these are my own personal most notable ones. Feel free to add up to these, and sorry if there is such a post already but it was kind of heartfelt of me doing this, and all of this means alot to me, seeing that homosexuality is still a controversial toppic in the korean entertainment industry and korea in general. It’s good to see the change (worldwide) tho and I am really glad these artists took it upon themselves to set an example and make fans with other sexual and gender identities than straight and cis welcome.
why kim woo bins eyebrows are a gift
so lets talk about kim woo bins eyebrows
I know I know...there is more to the man than just his eyebrows
but I mean...without them where will we find such unwavering sass?
him and his eyebrows need to stop being put down.
let him and his eyebrows live the life they were meant to live...flowing through the wind
because without them...he is lost
