They say that sudden, intense cravings for very specific foods are usually a sign of a vitamin deficiency. If so, that I'm presently making myself french toast, scrambled eggs, and a bacon and cheese sandwich at 11:45 PM must mean the vitamin I'm missing is grease.
Not to put too fine a point on it but Fat is a macronutrient. Like you need a lot more mass of it every day than all the vitamins combined. Like haha funny post but no really Fat is a nutrient yes your body is craving vitamin grease.

There's something I keep thinking about and it's how Kris and Chara both seem to invoke the Creepy Child horror trope while (in most cases at least) not actually fully embodying them.
Kris used to prank Noelle by scaring her. They tried to summon a demon with Catti. They literally share their body with an otherworldly being. Rudy straight up calls them the "creepy kid next door". They have a knife.
Chara has a "scary face". They laugh off distressing situations. They came up with a horrible, violent plan that lead to both their own and their brother's deaths. After a murder run, they go from concerning implications to fully embodying the Creepy Child trope. Literally having been revived from the dead. Calling themself a demon. You even sell a SOUL to them. They have a knife.
But,
Kris is also a pianist. A hobby they clearly care deeply about, to the point of embarrassment if someone catches them playing when they're not expecting it. They play video games. Their favorite food is butterscotch-cinnamon pie. They eat moss and say and do plenty of goofy shit.
Chara liked to draw. Their knife is described as "perfect for cutting plants and vines", implying that it was for gardening. They liked to fill their cup to the brim, because it was more "efficient" that way. Their favorite number is nine, because there isn't a number that's higher. They want to be the strongest, because nothing can hurt them if they're strong enough.
I dunno where I'm going with this. I just think that maybe Toby Fox is trying to tell us something about these two through characterizing them like this.
This one really does just gain momentum with every new word, huh?
when lace refers to hornet as 'spider' verbally, its lowercase (as it should be, grammatically). however, when she's referring to her as 'spider' internally, she does actually capitalize it as if it's hornet's actual name.
this distinction is debilitatingly funny to me, if only because it implies the best of both worlds: that, yes, lace does use spider as a derogatory term of endearment. AND that, yes, lace has no fucking clue what her name is because hornet has never once said it in front of her.
uncapitalizes your name so you know i don't give a shit abt you
Hmm, not too sure, I could be overthinking this; but we know that Lain is named Chamberlain— which traditionally means well something akin to chief officer, fitting for Lain being The King’s right hand and all HOWEVER, the way the recent panel(s) portray his name, it seems The King named him for the reason of viewing him as I guess an object of the sort?
“What even is a chamberlain?” Kinda seems to reduce Lain’s name to be more of a title, a job, rather than- well a name.
Now we as the viewer know The King is, well abusive ofc, so it could be he named Lain, Chamberlain due to the fact he views him as an object to him (seems likely but we don’t know), perhaps The King doesn’t or doesn’t only view him as an object and there is genuine care within his abuse but idk, something seems off regarding this.
We also do know Lain’s name is very important to him (shown indirectly and directly (dialogue between him and Mariner/Warbler)) so this could very well tie into Lain’s character and identity, esp as THE King named him and we know their relationship is very important to the story, so is this just coincidence and overthinking or perhaps something more— what’s the word? Symbolic?
But also wow, I feel like one of those literary analyzers (even if very wrong and just overthinking) where they say “oh the door in this book symbolizes blah blah blah etc etc” when in reality I dunno the author was just like “red door!!”
this is a lot of very fun analysis! There is definitely purposeful symbolism between Lain and The King's name. I will say that The King gave Lain his name after Lain came out as trans (as shown on page 146) so to Lain it felt right for The King to choose his new name (The King named him originally)
"Chamberlain" also matches The King's name in a way. "The King" is a title. So it made sense to Lain that his name should be his title and even more that his title should show his relationship to The King.
