Enough
I am not perfect
Nor am I complete
But I am enough.
My past still haunts me
And I’ve made mistakes
But I still deserve love.
I’ll love me when I’m down
And I forgive me for my faults
Because enough is ENOUGH.

Flow
Day by day
Just take it slow.
Don’t stress or worry.
Just go with the flow.
Tomorrow may not come.
Just conquer today.
Strive for good vibes
And that energy will stay.
Tsunami
There was talk of a potential storm.
I prepared myself
And was ready to survive it.
When it finally hit,
It was bigger than I expected.
I was drowning all over again.
When I heard the news
I could feel the sadness
Flooding my body.
What I thought would be
a small hurricane, was actually
a tsunami. Tears were nonstop.
It’s true. When it rains,
It pours. But learn to swim
Until Yah reveals the sun again.
Druknc
I’m off tomorrow
Without a care in the world.
Let’s go have a drink.
That turned into two.
That turned into the bottle.
That turned into darkness.
Just when I thought
I had everything under control
I drowned.
When I finally came up for air
The regret pulled me back down
And forced me to deal with my bad decisions.
They say your true self
is revealed when you’re drunk.
I disagree.
I’m not loud
Or mindless
Or desperate.
I thought I’d feel better.
Be more fun.
Loosen up.
Instead, my true self faded.
It went into hiding.
It refused to dwell in a dirty temple.
Why would I fill my temple with rum?
All it did was leave a mess of bad memories.
I had to get down on my knees
And scrub the mess away
With prayer.
My temple is my home.
I have to keep it clean
Or I will never be able to live there comfortably.
Standby
You must think I’m a movie
That you can just pause
Until you’re ready to start watching again.
I’m more like a novel
That you got half way through.
You couldn’t understand me
So you put me back on the shelf and chose an easier book.
My story is long and complex
But it’s worth the read.
Remedy
No need for the hospital.
No need for any drugs.
I’ll recover without those.
Yah’s love is enough.
His mercy wiped my tears.
His wisdom healed my mind.
His grace repaired my heart
And now I am fine.
First Aid
When I removed my bandages
And showed you my wounds,
I thought that you would nurture them
With love, patience, and acceptance.
Instead, you left me there in pain.
Good Girl
She always means well
With that smile on her face.
Her soft spoken voice
Is hard to hate.
A girl so sweet
With a heart so pure.
A blessing to meet.
She’ll change your whole world.
Too Strong
There have been times
That I came off too strong.
Wasn’t thinking at all
Or was thinking too much.
Sometimes it’s hard
To control my emotions.
I gave it my all
Only to fall.
Impossible
Every time I tried
To give myself to you
Something always held me back.
I could never fully
Give up the woman I am
To become the woman you want.
Staying true to yourself
Will push those away
Who aren’t meant to stay.
