“But you’d still need your legs to walk. And if you’re not more careful, your hands might be in trouble as well. Wouldn't want you to hurt those moneymakers," she teased lightheartedly, referring to Dakota's hands. Harlow loved seeing Dakota so excited, but she worried for her friend's safety too. She had a habit of rushing full speed ahead without looking where she was going. It was disconcerting to say the least.
“You can love me by slowing down a little.” She said, shaking her head. “Did she? I always thought Bek is resourceful. I’m sure Stevie would love to get your input for the seasonal drinks.” She moved towards the pastry display, opening it to grab the pastries for her friend. “I have to, otherwise you’d be running off on me, and hurt my feelings.” She pretended to pout. “Listen, I know you’re excited to see your sister, but she could spare you for half an hour, right?”
“Now, Let me see what I've got back here..." She ducked behind the counter, rifling through the baked goods. "I present to you, cinnamon rolls. Hot and fresh, just came out of the oven. I saved you one before they sold out." She placed the gooey cinnamon roll on a plate, sliding it over to her friend with a grin. "There you go, something sweet for that sweet tooth of yours. Now sit, relax, and enjoy your coffee and cinnamon roll. Liv can wait a few minutes while you refuel."
"Must you go and put logic to everything?" Dakota asked. "It's like a roadblock to when I go full speed ahead and...oh, oh now I get it. You do that on purpose." Well, that realization hit Kota like a sack of bricks.
"Alright alright, I'm slowing down." She made a big show of ever so slowly sitting down at the counter, trying to hide a grin. "See I can slow down. She did, I just needed drink ideas to recycle...not that y'know, I want to be lazy but some of the older specials were such classics, everyone loves a classic, right? Figured it couldn't hurt and then Bek just comes up with pure genius to go along with what I already planned." She took another long sip of her coffee, letting out a satisfied sigh. "Oh, man. Oh that's good."
She looked at the cinnamon roll. "Well since you did save me one before they sold out, and waited to brew the coffee just like I like it, almost like your senses knew I'd be swinging by...nah I can't drag that out, you know I always have time for you. I can spare an hour if you really need your 'Kota time'. She's home for a while."
