“do you really believe that?” there was some truth to her words, dohui knew it. but she refused to believe it. though even her parents had not married out of love, there was still this foolish thought that resided in her mind that perhaps, that just maybe, love was one of the most important things in this cruel world of theirs.
after all, dohui fell in love everyday, with the smallest things. love did not always have to come from a place of romantic feelings or even be for a person at all. and even though she knows better to voice these opinions, she does anyways.
“i think love is more important than we believe it to be.”
“ i feel like a child in clothes far too big for me.”
a royal wedding ; accepting.
“you look far from that,” she offers, a small smile playing on her lips. though dohui had been trained for events like this, she couldn’t help but feel out of place. her hanbok resting on her shoulders like the woman before her had just said: like they were two sizes too big.
perhaps it was the nervousness that pooled in her stomach, she never really grasped how to act around the royals, spending a majority of her time at home with her mother. but if there was anyone to know how she felt, it would be deokhye.
i’ll get to prompts for seora and dohui tomorrow, but i realized that i don’t have many of you on discord so please add me (miya#0736) so it’s easier to plot ;u;

“ i wish i knew you earlier.”
“ i heard the princess opposed .. the poor groom.”
“ i would look a little happier if i were you.”
“ i think i’ll need more wine to get through this.”
“ love isn’t all too important, not to us.”
“ just the two of us at sunset.”
“ will she come to love him, do you think?”
“ he deserved better than this.”
“ i want to choose you.”
“ it looks like you’ve had enough to drink.”
“ i need to be somewhere else.”
“ don’t you believe there’s someone for everyone?”
“ that’s not the way a marriage works.”
“ i was so enjoying the silence.”
“ she doesn’t look ready for the marriage bed.”
“ you look beautiful.”
“ your smile looks a little forced.”
“ they don’t look very good together, do they?”
“ i feel like a child in clothes far too big for me.”
“ well? how do i look?”
“ one of these days, it’ll be your turn.”
“ i wish he would ask for my hand already.”
“ would you like to sit with me?”
“ no .. i don’t need more time.”
“ i have something i’d like to get off my chest.”
Well, well. Wasn’t this an interesting sight? Yejun hadn’t been expecting to see something like this when he’d finished work for the day and detoured into the usual sheltered area he used to escape his family instead of going straight home.
(Though given what had happened earlier in the day, going straighi home was probably a bad idea).
Truth be told, he was almost mesmerized by the sight of the woman dancing, and with swords, no less. It was rare to see a woman with a sword, Yejun could probably count on one hand the times he had seen it happen.
Peeking around the tree trunk he’d hidden behind when he first arrived to see that he was not alone; dark brown eyes watched the woman’s every movement carefully. Graceful, elegant. And with those swords, most likely dangerous.
A grin crept onto Yejun’s face as the other suddenly paused in her dancing. Time to crash the party. Before she could react, Yejun stepped out from behind the tree, clapping.
“What a show~! I couldn’t take my eyes off you, now I see why my mother warned me about girls who dance. If you’d kept dancing, I– YAH! DON’T POINT THAT AT ME!”
Bravado suddenly gone as the young lord found himself on the wrong end of a sword, Yejun scrambled backwards until he was against the tree again.
“Aaaah, if you kill me, it’s going to cause you a world of trouble! My father won’t take kindly to it.”
(Though, Yejun wasn’t too sure about that last part.)
the cold air surrounded dohui, its frigid fingers nipping her skin. it was comforting, after all she’d been born during the more colder times of the year. it was just enough to suppress the odd feeling of stress that pressed down on the female’s chest, filling her with a need of escape.
it wasn’t often that she ever indulged in the things that she found enjoyable. perhaps it was the drilling tones of her mother’s voice that kept her from doing so. her mother had engraved the words into her mind. i raised a proper lady, not a gisaeng. the term itself was off-putting to dohui’s mother. while a gisaeng was still a dignified person in her mind, her mother thought otherwise. a gisaeng was nothing but a whore.
yet dohui knew better. it was not always the case. to be highly educated in the arts, that’s all dohui wished for. to be able to create intricate stories through music and dance, it was dohui’s only wish in life.
that’s why she waited until the sun was no longer seen and her mother was well asleep. she’d sneak off into the forest near her house, her father’s old sword gripped between her slender fingers as she moved gracefully in the night. it feel right, the stress from her mother disappearing as she twisted her arms, the sword cutting through the air.
however, the sound of someone else’s breath sets her on edge, their clapping sounding condescending as they discover her. with narrow eyes and sneer her father would be proud of, she corners them. “it’s a show not meant for you.”
her words are sharp. her eyes cold and harsh. it would seems as if dohui was used to brandishing a sword. and perhaps she was. but it was never a source of violence. it was used to tell a tale, never to cause harm.
“my father won’t take kindly to the news of someone spying on his daughter. nor would my brother.” her knuckles are white as she grips the hilt of the sword, a slight tremble going through her. what was she to even do in this situation?
hi hi, it’s mia here with my second baby seo dohui !! under the cut will be a quick intro! as of now, only her bio is up ( h e r e ) tbh that’s probably all that will be up for her as of now. if you’d like to plot, discord ( miya#0736 ) would be your best bet! anyways, onto dohui!
seo dohui, twin to seo dongho!!
she’s 24 and unmarried, which is just ?? for her bc she’s been raised to be dependent on a man so she’s like,,,, hnn n nn n n . w o t
a total softie when it comes to her family. she honestly doesn’t even talk to her brother much bc of her mother and her strictness in terms of keeping her daughter pure ( but like also gross that’s her brother but i guess her mom is crazy lol ) but she loves him dearly !!! admires him a lot and would anything for him
in terms of everyone else,,, she’s painfully polite. like the type of polite girl you’d bring home to ur mom... that’s ms. dohui
it’s not like she hates it though. her mom has beaten it into her mind that she’s the perfect joseon daughter, and could be the perfect wife, which she won’t disagree with.
but she finds life to be a little.... lackluster.
she plays the gayageum decently and quite skilled in dancing, which her mother finds absolutely scandalous and admits this to be her only flaw.
think woohee from scarlet heart, that kind of dancing. with her brother and father’s knifes. usually practices in the cover of the night, but it’s her best kept secret !!
totally the type to fall in love easily. she can’t read but she’s heard the stories of romance and she’s like !!!! yes !!! sign me up !!!l
she’s extremely gullible and if you told her pigs could fly and the chickens could speak proverbs, she would totally believe you. ( another flaw, as said by her mother )
she’s super emotional,,,, in the most emotionless way. like she’s over come with emotions momentarily but will just push them down and deal with them on her own time.
subjectable to manipulation, like super easily. she’s not very well guarded in her feelings because she likes to see the good in everyone. so like,,, take advantage of her if u want idc
some plot ideas !!
totally needs someone to sweep her off her feet and give her a life worth living !!!!
maybe catch her practicing with her brother’s knifes
