{thank you to all the people who have made cyberpunk 2077 magazine edits in the past and the present. i will never pretend like i'm the first one to ever come up with this idea. i simply wanted to create my own version of a night city magazine!}

I get in theory why people complain about het ships or whatever, I get wanting to watch queer media I really do, but I guess where y’all lose me is like. I saw some asshole on a post about Sinners complaining it was “hetslop”—this person was specifically doing so while also claiming Remmick was a queer character and thus they were justified in caring more about him than the Black protagonists. which is a whole other disgusting can of worms that has been well addressed by others at this point. but even in the absence of that part of the argument, like, no, i actually don’t think that a hunger for queer stories is an especially good excuse to deride and dismiss a piece of landmark Black filmmaking, especially as a non-Black person. I have a post that’s been going around encouraging folks to engage with more Native stories and characters, and I had someone come onto that post saying in the tags that they’d need these stories to be queer in order to care. and I just think that, you know, sucks! like obviously as a queer Native I also want to see more of those stories too. but idk how else to put it other than to say that Black people and people of color shouldn’t have to be like you in order for you to care about our narratives and experiences. and I think some of y’all are using this disdain for heterosexuality as a cover for your unexamined racial biases. it’s not okay to be racist to people just because those people happen to be straight, and you continue to be white before you are queer.

on an even more basic level than that, also, I simply just think some of y’all NEED to learn how to interact with media and storytelling without ships and fandom in mind. like if not being able to write fic about two men kissing is genuinely going to be a dealbreaker for you I think that’s actually something you need to work on within yourself because at that point I think you’re no longer really interacting with art and themes and narrative so much as just kind of playing with toys. which is, like, fine I guess. have fun. but it wouldn’t kill you to disengage from that from time to time. especially if would allow you to actually appreciate rich and deeply moving cultural stories from communities of color that you desperately need to learn how to see as human

I've been on my Switch 2 lately because I've been replaying all the old Zelda games (Wind Waker, OOT, MM, The Minish Cap) and realized I haven't touched TOTK since release. I only have like 15 hours in there and i haven't really felt compelled to finish the game. TOTK fans, do NOT whack me for that lmfaoo.

I'm replaying BOTW currently so maybe i'll try to restart TOTK and actually finish it.

Making a comment about Wyll and stereotypical black characters we see in the media and having non black people try to educate me while also saying "idk wtf that means" in regard to "stereotypical black characters"

Edit: also, racial stereotypes affect everyone regardless of where they are in the world. You think mfs give a fuck if i'm american or european? No! They'll see i'm black first and go off of that 😭

I always say this but i do miss being in the Cyperpunk fandom over here. It had a lot of issues (and still does from the little bits i'm seeing) but it was fun for me. It seems like everyone is either in discord servers, busy with life (i feel this one heavily), or they've left the fandom entirely

I'm still gonna post Vanessa (and Ivan and Avery eventually) but i feel like there isn't much of a point in posting any lore about them. At least not now. Maybe with that new anime coming out, it'll reignite the fandom.

Edit: It could also be that i'm not actively interacting with the fandom enough anymore that i feel that way. So... idk lmfao

Listen, I understand the appeal of redesigning NPCs. I really do. I learned to mod just to give River more clothes ya know

Changing clothes, hairstyles, tattoos, makeup, accessories… that’s all part of customization, and I think it’s fun. But sometimes people take it way too far.

When you’re changing core facial features, lightening skin, adding or removing defining features, or altering the traits that make a character look like their intended ethnicity to fit a more Eurocentric beauty standard, you’ve stopped redesigning the character and started replacing them.

I got called “DEI” because I pointed out that someone had whitewashed the hell out of Panam. Meanwhile, people have no problem with mods that completely change characters like that “Hot Boi” River mod. Which turns him into someone he’s not. To me, that’s where the line is. Customize the outfit. Change the hair. Give them new makeup. Have fun with it. But once you erase the features that make a character who they are, especially the features tied to their identity, it just feels gross to me.

you say something about how you wish more rpg's would start allowing you to actually create a character instead of playing as a default white person on reddit and suddenly you're the devil.

i really do just wanna play a vampire game where i can create a vampire the way i want them to look! bloodlines failed me and im kinda disappointed that dawnwalker isn't gonna let me do that either. maybe i should get into game developing or something LMFAO
