Dandelion Sun is an upcoming webcomic where each episode is one day of the year. Follow the lives of six friends as they navigate the ups and downs of being teenagers in 1994. From family dramas, to crushes, to school fights, there are all sorts of growing pains to face. Their rural hometown may be small, but the lives of its residents are not!
The story is intended for mature audiences only.

Hello! My names are Dolly and Estee. I use she/they, and am the creator of this story.
You can find much more about me on my blog, @dollycosmic, but the most important thing to note here is I am very passionate about my OCs. I have had Dandelion Sun formulating in my head for years. I'm super excited to finally start posting the series online!
I love aliens, astronomy, and skies. My favourite plants are dandelions (shocker!), clovers, and foxgloves. 1950s and 1990s aesthetics appeal to me, but I like learning about the daily lives of the 20th century as a whole. If you took my headphones, I'd probably be listening to The The, ELO, or any old power pop or rock bands.
Renee is a very interesting OC of mine. She's extremely troubled and is widely unpopular amomg adults and peers alike. Described as reckless, aggressive, and sometimes stupid, she hears it all.
Nevertheless, she continues to get into fights with schoolyard bullies. Barneby and Russell despise her, but win most fights against her. She's rigged from the start in a 1v2. Even though she constantly loses, she gives the fights her all and never stops challenging them. No bruises or bandages will stop her.
Even when relatively neutral, she looks sour. People tell her she's intimidating for her constant resting bitch face. The expression never changes, nor does she want it to. Most people fear her or want her to leave—or both.
However, Renee is not mean. She's not someone who wants to hurt others or make people scared of her. She wants to be included in discussions as a friend, not a point of gossip. It's obvious why she's so unpopular, and she's well aware of her behaviour pushing people away. She's caught between what she is loyal to and what she needs.
I hope people have a fun time watching her actions. As I said, she's deeply troubled. It will take a long time to pull her out of the mess she's in. I want readers to value her hypocrisy, short fuse, and black-and-white view of the world as a complex character.

There are six protagonists in Dandelion Sun. They all live at Hal Street, in the town of Halboro.
Renee

Birthday: 10th November, 1980
Age: 13-14
Renee is a firecracker. Fuelled by a strong sense of justice, she is very easy to anger and will not calm until things feel rectified. As a result, she often gets into fights with her peers. A quick snap from a teacher will put her into place, but don't expect her anger to dissipate.
Of course, she is not always angry. She has a dry sense of humour, but enjoys watching goofy, slapstick comedies and Saturday morning cartoons. She loves to dance, play video games, and read. Her and Lucas both adore the in-universe franchise Super Space Sailor!
Lucas

Birthday: 28th September, 1980
Age: 13-14
Lucas likes to think of himself as a laid-back guy. He aspires to be someone who is easy to be around and goes with the flow. In reality, he is extremely passionate and even more stubborn. It can be very difficult to get through to him when he's set his mind on something, for better or worse. Of course, he's not immune to teenage pressures.
His prized possessions include his full collection of Super Space Sailor comics and his dirt bike. He collects anything and everything Super Space Sailor related, including rusty bottle caps. He also plays video games and enjoys watching AFL games.
Ally

Birthday: 12th September, 1980
Age: 13-14
Ally is a ray of sunshine. She is optimistic about everything to the point of annoyance. No problem is too big, and no fun is too small to ignore. She will often organise group activities the same morning she plans to do them. However, she has a terrible attention span and hates committing to things she isn't currently interested in.
When she's not practicing trumpet or studying for school, she enjoys skateboarding, gardening, and playing AFL. Her garden is her favourite place. She is also a hopeless romantic, swooning over whatever rom-com movies she has the attention span for.
She has a pet dog named Lou Boy (Louie).
Mary-Anne

Birthday: 12th July, 1980
Age: 13-14
Mary-Anne is a very polite girl. Her Catholic faith combined with her parents' teachings to make her extremely well-mannered around most people. She is also extremely creative. Unfortunately, being highly regarded among adults and having big ideas leads her to believe she is the leader in almost all situations. She will not yell commands, but her influence on group activities is obvious.
Her creativity is expressed through a love of rubberhose styles and animation. She draws flip books of her characters in her free time. She also loves photography, old films, and meteorology! Coming from a rich family, she can afford most hobbies she wants to pursue.
She has a pet cat named Fluffles.
Lola

Birthday: 5th December, 1980
Age: 13-14
Lola feels things very deeply and is not afraid to express them. She has many opinions, so you can always rely on her for advice and critiques. She does not act with malice, but being such a massive hypocrite, it comes across that way. Don't expect her two cents to apply to her own actions.
She is a fan of all things trendy. Her side of her bedroom is full of magazines, clothes, and random things she couldn't resist buying. That said, she is also a big fan of Medieaval European history. In her spare time, she likes to research and attempt to sew historical outfits.
She is Jack's twin sister and is slightly older than him.
Jack

Birthday: 5th December, 1980
Age: 13-14
Jack is extremely meek. Years of being bullied have taught him to keep his mouth shut and his head down. He rarely reacts with anger, which leads to becoming a bigger target. Deep down, he is very knowledgeable about his interests, but mosy people don't know him beyond his reputation as a nerdy, theatrical wimp.
His talents lie in musical theatre. He loves to act and sing, but he has two left feet and major stage fright. Away from the stage, he is a major fan of the goriest horror films around. His favourite animals are poisonous fish, which he can talk about for hours. Lion fish are his number one favourite thing!
He is Lola's twin brother and is slightly younger than her.
