"I just don't care anymore...." Chiemi muttered before voting for Ripley.

Last Good Bye || Chie || RE: Ripley
Chie first gave Nolan a weird look, she was confused. Why was he being gentle with her now when he was so vicious towards her in the last trial? No matter how many times she tried to give him evidence that she was innocent, he had ignored it and said she was guilty. Suddenly, he was trying to be nice to her? She didn't understand the reason for this treatment, it's not like her skin was made out of paper.
Ah well. Chie figured that Ripley didn't actually care, it wasn't that hard to figure out at all. She wasn't a fool, she had a good grasp on how people genuinely reacted when faced with death, acting aloof and uncaring meant you don't care unless you're faking it... usually. There wasn't some underlying, unconventional reasoning behind it. She felt they were the Ousama because they didn't care. Even if that reason was 'not great', she still had a good reason for why she came to that conclusion. She didn't understand why Nolan was trying to sugarcoat things, somebody was murdered (and horribly, she might add), nobody should have to walk on egg shells to prevent hurting someone else's feelings, especially if that person had taken another's life.
Regardless, it seems like everything was over; after Chie casted her vote, she finally spoke up to Ripley. "While I don't approve of your mocking tone, I do respect for your honesty. Good luck in your next life Kaelin-san." Chie said, her voice somewhat emotionless.

Vs. Will || Ripley || Re:Stefanie, Hiromichi, ava
Alternate title to this post was I thought Jace or kale would have ended the trial but more people are talking and oh god Ripley no. "Well. I didn't plan to kill her. She just happened to be there and say the wrong things at the wrong time. It was an honest to God mistake. We ended up arguing and it escalated to physical violence. If I could go back and change things.....no it's better not to indulge in hypothetical at this point I'm sorry I killed her." Then Hiromichi hugged them. It was quick but Ripley appreciated the gesture. Hiromichi had a similar build to Johan, oh god Ripley would never see his family again. "Please tell my family what happened here, if any of you make it out alive. Tell them everything but please let them know I'm so sorry and I love them." This was less directed at hiromichi as everyone and it was a desperate plea. Finally Ava. "You know, I don't think either of us have room to judge the other. You killed two people and did it behind their backs. I've been thinking about what I wanted to say to you about last time but I'll leave it at this. At least Airi put up a fight. At least she had the chance to. I understand now why you did what you did and all I can really say to you is don't waste the life you have left. Do something with it. Your strong enough to kill one person and let another die for you, grow a backbone and live." It wasn't hostile the way he spoke to Ava. It wasn't mean or patronizing. It was just matter of fact. Maybe one day he'd get a chance to apologise for it but today wasn't going to be it.
Goodbye, Oh Goodbye | Hiromichi | RE: Ripley
Hiromichi had nothing to say. Well, maybe he did, but the words wouldn't come. He just stared at Ripley like a deer in headlights, eyes wide as saucers and brimming with tears. What was he supposed to say? What was he supposed to do? No action he could feasibly take could change what had happened, and what was going to happen next. His head was swimming, he could feel his chest tightening like it was being gripped with a vice. He took a deep breath, opened his mouth like he was going to say something, but he couldn't make any words come out. Nothing wanted to work properly. Why would it? Things weren't meant to be like this. None of them should have been in this situation in the first place.
He moved away from his podium, and slowly paced up to Ripley. Getting the energy to walk around was difficult, but he wasn't trying to drag his feet. He was just so exhausted and sad and tired and overwhelmed and plenty of emotions he couldn't feasibly name, and sometimes walking around was a damn chore, even though Ripley was only two podiums away. Hiromichi looked up at him, trying to show his emotions in his face instead of words but only looking utterly miserable and betrayed. Well. It was accurate. He wiped the tears off his face as quickly as he could muster, and then hugged Ripley tightly.
The hug only lasted for a few seconds before Hiromichi couldn't bear to be near Ripley anymore. All the emotions were overwhelming enough already, after all. He stumbled backwards, almost bumping into Nolan in the process, and quite nearly fell over (but managed to catch the edge of his own podium just in time). All his energy expended, he slumped against his podium, head down and covered by his arms. He was thinking to himself again, but certainly not the same way he had been earlier, trying to encourage himself to speak up.
'God, I'm really fucking good at this, aren't I? Maybe I should just stop running from the truth. Before I fuck up and ruin another person's life because I'm a goddamn demon.'
Edgy, sure, but severe self-deprecating thoughts tend to be that way. Let him cry himself out.
Stefanie votes for Ripley Kaelin.

Struggimento | Stefanie | Trial 2 | Re: Ripley
Stefanie looks down at her podium after she and Nolan spoke up. Thoughts were rushing through her head and... And Ripley was admitting to it. She wasn't sure if she could fully believe it. Really, she didn't want to believe it.
Her new friend killed one of her friends. Her roommate. Isn't a roommate supposed to end up as your best friend you do everything with? Sure they weren't there yet, but Steffie really liked Airi. It felt like all the possibilities were blown out, much like Airi's life.
She feels sick, and she looks up at Ripley, finally looking at them.
"W-Why... Why Yamamoto-san?"
It would have hurt, no matter who it was, she realizes. But she had to know. Why specifically Airi?
As she asks, she presses a button on her podium.
Ava puts in her vote for Ripley.

Ataxophobia || Ava || Trial 2 || re: ripley
For a majority of the trial, Ava has been half-cowering behind her podium. She hadn't been particularly helpful, and the insults flying didn't exactly help her jump in to try and say anything either. It's not until after Ripley is finished speaking and many others have started to cast their votes that she finally gets up the courage to speak.
"You've--....Th-That's...wrong...!"
It's far from a shout, but her voice is a little louder than her usual. Looks like Ripley might have struck a nerve.
"You talk...about chaos...but there's...much more to it...than that...We don't exist...in chaos...n-not really...Things can...look like...they happen for...no reason...or out...of nowhere...b-but that's not...true at all...There is order...you just...aren't looking...That's not chaos...that's predictability..."
Ava took in a deep breath, trying to make herself keep talking.
"You killed...Yamamoto-san...over a... 25% chance...of losing your...own life...and by doing that...increased that chance...by a significant amount...A bare minimum...of 50%...considering the...evidence you...left behind...You knew...that a trial...would result...in a death...and that it could...be your own...Why knowingly gamble twice...for worse odds...? And you...only made things...worse by...n-not defending yourself...well at all..."
She shifts anxiously at her podium. She'd know a thing or two about defending herself in a trial after all. A few tears bead up in the corners of her eyes.
"Human life...is precious...and the fact that...people...were willing to...risk their lives...to protect others...and t-to not break down...in the face of...what Ouji-san...was forcing on us...that's what makes...what we've both done...so terrible...If you can't...see that......"
She shakes her head, trailing off into silence. Eventually she mumbles the last of her thought aloud to herself as she pushes a button down.
"Then I wonder if...you're even worse...than me..."
D20 | Ripley | attn: all?
Ripley brushed off what ammy had said, knowing she'd probably get what was coming to her in the long run. It didn't matter what she said about him anyways. Because when Nolan and Stefanie spoke up it was over. It was all over. Everything was over. Ripley rolled their neck and shrugging only to loosen their shoulders. Relaxing. Taking it down a notch. Eventually the votes would pour in. "Oh thank God. It's finally fucking over. Hey congrats you caught me because I let you and because Beaumont stayed quiet. Which is cool not blaming them. Mostly blame myself." They were relaxed. Almost like they were waiting for something. "Whatever my guys it's over the majority is established and I'm ready for it." Oh right last words were kind of a thing? That's what people who are dying or were dead do, right? They tell people their last words. Ripley looked up at the sky. The sun shining over the clearing where their trials were held. It was such a gorgeous day, ruined by murder and trials. Ripley wouldn't get to enjoy the breeze, or the sunshine on their face for much longer. But they were at peace for now. Oh yeah Higanbana was speaking. They liked Higanbana. Not that they knew her well but they'd come to understand that she was a good person doing her best in her own way. Ripley tore his gaze from a passing cloud to respond to her. "You know Higanbana your cool. That's a really nice thought and if it actually works for you I'm glad. But I'm sure the game isn't over. I wasn't the first and I won't be the last." There's no remorse In their voice, if this were a game, you'd have to roll a perception check to see Ripley's turmoil. "Hey though that's not fair. I guess you theoretically could have ignored it but someone would have still died. I don't think I was willing to let chance and luck take my life from me." He smiled at Higanbana. "Okay well. Hold on. Big dramatic reveal I guess." Ripley licked their hand then scrubbed furiously at their face, with what makeup came off you can all clearly see a line of scratches that look like claw marks. Though shallow they left some wicked bruising. "Tada...." It was weak and sarcastic. "Um...Nolan your cool. Stefanie your Cool. Chiemi your alright. Hiromichi your cool and thank you for believing in me for so long. Chie your good, just doing your job I get that. Cyrille your cool. Takeshi take care of them. Ammy you still really suck but thanks for the sweater. And those of you I haven't met. Just like, you don't have to get along but be good to each other for fucks sake." Ripley rubbed the back of their head kinda thinking ouji would have wrapped up the trial by this point. "Yeah I got nothing else, you can take me now ouji...or fuckin whatever."
Higanbana | I'm Not A Piece of Cake | RE: Ripley, Nolan/Stefanie
And there was the verdict. Well, not the official verdict, but the results of the body-check and...it didn't sound good. Some might argue circumstantial evidence only, but when there was a lot of it...Well.
After Nolan and Stefanie shared their findings, another voice spoke up after a few seconds.
"I know life's unfair. I think we all do. Life's sometimes awful and cruel, too, and you have to do things you really don't want."
Oh hey, it's Higanbana again. Staring at her podium with - oh God, again with the smile?
"If you choose to separate yourself from the rest of us, figuratively-speaking, then...we can't stop you, can we? You've made your decision and it's too late to change your mind. But some of us want to go about it another way. Some of us refuse to do what Ouji wants. Some of us want to make friends even in these...circumstances."
Pause. Shrug.
"I'm not trying to change your mind, or pick a fight. I guess I just feel that since you said your opinion on this, it's only fair that someone else be able to as well... ...for what it's worth? I did like you."
And despite all of that, Higanbana still didn't press her button. As she spoke she just hovered her hand over it, not moving. Finally, she set her hand down on the podium itself, briefly casting apologetic/pleading looks at her podium-mates.
