”But it itches!” he groaned, stopping the scratching but continuing to rub the red welts with the palm of his hand furiously.
"Calm down," she said, putting down her book and approaching the boy. "... Spit on it," she suggested.

”But it itches!” he groaned, stopping the scratching but continuing to rub the red welts with the palm of his hand furiously.
"Calm down," she said, putting down her book and approaching the boy. "... Spit on it," she suggested.
"I would never turn down food," Devin said with a friendly grin. His shoulder rested against the wood of the door frame. ”No matter what time of the day. And your very thin pancakes smell fantastic.”
Danielle's smiled widened. "Awesome," she said with a flash of her teeth, and she piled a plate of the pasties on the table in view of the stranger. "Thank you, by the way - family recipe." She served herself a much smaller portion, though she heaped fresh whipped cream and raspberries on the stack from the array of toppings on the counter before leaning up against the oven and digging in.
Danielle stood in the kitchen, in front of the stove, looking up from her work as she saw the figure enter through the doorway. "I know it's the afternoon and all," she said, smirking a little, "but do you want some crepes? I made too many."
"Okay the quiet was fun at first but now it’s just unusual. What the hell is going on with everyone?"
"It's lovely, don't you think?" Danielle said, looking up from her book. "I've gotten so much reading done. It's great."
Situated at the kitchen table, Danielle looked in frustration at the laptop, a still-warm grilled cheese to her left and a jar of strawberry jam to her right. She tapped away with greasy fingers, her face twisting in increasing anguish as she searched for the information she desired. Every few minutes she'd take a knife's worth of jam and smother it on a corner of the sandwich before taking a bite, a look of happy calm replacing the worry on her face for just a minute before it returned. Google lay open in three tabs, the most recent with "how to be a good girlfriend" typed into the search bar, though Danielle didn't seem to be achieving much success.
Groaning, she dropped her head for a minute, though she lifted it a moment later, feeling watched. Turning her head around to look over her shoulder, she saw a figure standing above her, watching her screen. "How long have you been there...?"she asked nervously, quickly slamming the laptop shut.
This time the post it was stuck on the cover of her dictionary, and it read: "The smile you make when you learn something new is kind of adorable too, PB."
Danielle shook her head as she read the note, eyeing her surroundings suspiciously to see if anyone was watching. How is he finding my hiding spot? Opening to another free page, she stuck the note inside, fighting back a grin. “Pain in my ass,” she whispered. climbing down from her bunk in search of a pen and some post its notes of her own.
”I look like I have the chicken pox,” Emmett grumbled to himself, glancing down at his arm raked with scratches and red bumps.
Glancing down at his skin, she cringed a bit, tugging harder on her sleeves to make sure she was adequately covered. "Don't scratch," she warned him.
"Uh huh," Logan said rather sarcastically. "We’ll see how it goes then. Think of it as a journey in your new spontaneous and random life, Xena," he teased. Listening to her call him Dad caused him to wrinkle his nose. "That’s gross. But now I’ll call myself Daddy just to see how long it’ll take me to either traumatize you or make you adapt to it," he laughed, shaking his head at his own stupidity.
"Indeed it is," Logan agreed with her statement, vague memories making themselves present in his thoughts. At her hypothetical, and slightly morbid explanation to defend the poor fishermen, he made a face. "That’s kind of morbid, Dimples. Also gross," he said even though he ended up smiling. "Now I can’t stop imagining an actual body part getting stuck in those things. The flesh just getting ripped apart and shit. Dear Zeus."
"Total adventure," she responded, rolling her eyes, though the word didn't even begin to explain it. "Oh, God, I was kidding, don't you dare." She tapped his legs with her feet again in protest. "Doooooon't doooooo itttttt," she continued, obviously being very mature.
"What can I say, it's a possibility if there's really that many body parts floating around." She shrugged, though the image did turn her stomach a bit. "Okay, stop, we get it," she said, crinkling her brow, "I'm gonna puke, Log, just quit." She made gagging sounds to get her point across before expertly sitting up, leaning across the sofa and snagging the clicker; she began flipping through channels, settling on a documentary about cuttlefish.
Charlie smiled softly at the girl and wrapped an arm around he waist when she turned to look at her. Raising an eyebrow, she poked the girl's nose. When she thought about being with this girl, her stomach flopped happily. She couldn't wait to talk to her dad, and Tyler, and whoever else would listen. She was happy. "Just like you."
Leaning into her, Danielle gave a sleepy sigh. Not only was the sun starting to come up,but she was so emotionally exhausted from the events of the evening. Butterflies bounced around in her stomach at Charlie's words. "I was thinking more like you," she replied shyly, giving her shoulder a small peck.
Charlie smiled as the girl danced with her. Laughing as the song ended, she breathed in deeply and exhaled. Looking at the girl, her heart soared again at the thought of being somebody's. She hoped Danielle wouldn't leave. Biting her lip, she went over and popped another strawberry in her mouth. She pointed to the sky and smiled. "Sun's rising."
Following Charlie to the table, she smiled softly, thoroughly enjoying herself at this point; while still stunned at the night's turn of events, she was starting to become more comfortable with the idea of being with Charlie, though she couldn't wait until she saw Logan and Ozzy again - she had so much to tell. Danielle looked in the direction of Charlie's finger, her eyes looking up in the pink sky as the sun started to climb over the evergreens. "It's beautiful," she murmured, though she'd shifted her glance to look squarely at the girl.

"Then consider me the greatest leech on earth." He laughed at Dani’s obvious discomfort and shook his head "Says the woman who fucked a girl literally a few feet away from me. Calm down, Mother Teresa I’ll go put on a shirt in a minute." He did as he had promised, finding a random tank top and slipping it on before turning back. "Is that better your, dykeness?"
She crinkled her brow at the bow with a shake of her head - everyone was so lazy, she couldn't see the point of lounging about all day. "Do not speak to me like that, I had to fuck her, you twat." Looking back at her own reflection for a moment, she admired it a bit - she did look rather good, she had to admit. "Much," she said walking over to his bed and flopping down on it. "I don't run around with my boobs out, at least return the favor."
"It’s alright," Elisa shrugged, smiling as bright as always once again, completely leaving behind the gloominess of her story. "Well, you can’t really blame parents, I think. No one showed them how to be parents, and… well, I guess most of them just do whatever they think it’s better for us, right?" The girl nodded, smiling hopefully. "Well, we’ll see what happens," she shrugged trying hard not to give herself false hopes and excessive expectancies, but it had already happened. Reason why she was already freaking out about the date night. "And… me and my family always left the city during the holidays, but… apparently the world wanted us to meet since it’s brought us together after all. What are the odds, right?" She grinned brightly. "It’s the second week for me, but I definitely agree. I feel like it’s been ages since I got here, as if for some reason I had always been here. It feels familiar, you know?"
Danielle shrugged, the logical side of her agreeing, though she still internalized the resentment she felt for her parents' long excusrsions across the globe. "I guess," Danielle said, fiddling with a lose thread on her leggings, "it would've been nice to have seen them more often, though. Like, I know they love me, and all, but my nanny was more of a mom than my mom was, most of the time." She sighed, moving on. "Yeah, maybe you're right," she said, smiling softly, "I'm glad we did, meet though, it's nice to know I'm not the only one totally thrown off by the lack of skyscrapers out here," punctuating her words with a small laugh. "It does - as much as I debated not even coming, I'm really glad I took the plunge and joined the show."
Charlie smiled at the girl and almost choked on her wine as the song came on. She began laughing and sat her drink down. Singing along loudly, she began dancing around like an idiot. She let go and allowed herself to enjoy the night, something she rarely did.
Danielle smiled as she watched Charlie, putting her own glass down to join the girl - her girlfriend (a concept she still couldn't wrap her mind around) - on the dancefloor. She didn't often dance outside of a studio, and she'd forgotten how fun it can be to simply let loose. Gtting close to the girl, she shimmied next to her, still giggling incessantly.
Charlie stifled a laugh at the girl and popped one into her mouth as well. "Oo welcome." She smiled and took a drink from her own glass. 'I have a girlfriend and she loves me.' she thought to herself. Her mine, heart, and stomach filled with joy.
Danielle let out another laugh, nearly choking on wine as Charlie responded. She shook her head, her pulse finally returning to a normal speed, the tenseness of the evening wearing off as their emotions calmed down. Taking another sip, she half-listened to the music, though as the song changed, she couldn't help another bust of laughter - from the speaker's, after an endless playlist of romantic slow songs, came 'I Kissed a Girl.' "Fucking Jensen," Danielle said, her hand fiddling with her hair as she giggled like an idiot.
Charlie smiled down at the girl and placed a kiss on her forehead. “Are you hungry?” She began to walk towards the wine and food. Smiling, she took two glasses and popped open a bottle of red wine.
Danielle nodded, breathing a little easier as things returned to normalcy. “Starving,” she said sheepishly, kicking herself for not eating earlier, and picking up a chocolate covered strawberry, which she shoved in her mouth as ladylike as possible. “Fank-oo,” she said, mouth full, trying not not laugh at herself as she took one of the glasses, taking a small sip, the alcohol a welcome addition to the evening.
Charlie smiled warmly at the girl and twisted a strand of her hair between two fingers. She could tell they Danielle was nervous and so was she. Nodding happily, she finished the girl's sentences. "Together? Yes. Girlfriend? Yes." She smiles happily and gives the girl another kiss. Never before had she felt this happy.
Danielle gulped, smiling through her nervousness as she looked up, nodding at Charlie. Girlfriend, she thought silently, her heart leaping. She had to admit she was excited - someone cared about her, loved her even, and she had everything she'd come to the cottage to find after only a week - but in the back of her mind she staved off the instinct to run bakc into the house and find a hiding spot, so used to her loneliness that it was second nature. She breathed slowly, exhaling as she kissed Charlie again. "So, uh," she said, pulling away, "I mean, I think we're supposed to be on a date or something..." She giggled. "But, this is nice, too."
Charlie's heart sped up as those three words came out of the girl's mouth. A smile worked its way into her face. Never before had anybody said that to her, And now she had someone who did, And she was positive she meant it, right? As the girl grabbed her head and did it again, Her stomach fluttered. Smiling, she whispered back "I love you too." before melting into the kiss.
Danielle grinned into the kiss, pulling away after a few moments, her heart still thumping, nervousness and adrenaline coursing through her veins. She looked up at the blonde, biting her lip for a moment before speaking, taking time with her words. "So," she started, hesitatating as she searched for the right words. "Does that mean we're...?" She paused again. "I mean, are you my...?" She trailed off, going red in the face as she wracked her brain, which had gone blank.
