Daniel Mathers ⇒ 16 ⇒ Junior in High School ⇒ June 13, 1996
Most people have done their fair share of embarrassing things, things they’d much prefer to forget completely. Daniel isn’t excluded in that group of people, but he, unlike nearly everyone else, doesn’t seem to have an ounce of shame to his name. The rising star of the basketball team, Danny often finds himself in the limelight and aptly soaks up every bit of it. He’s accustomed to getting exactly what he wants exactly when he wants it, and he’s not afraid to obtain anything he covets using any means he deems necessary. Daniel makes friends quite easily, as long as the person has a good sense of humor and doesn’t pose as much of a threat to him, of course. Otherwise, he’s a very competitive person, whereas Angus is much more meek when it comes to conflict and rivalry.
He’s blessed to have a brother who will take the blame for him, something the younger boy’s been doing for as long as he can remember, but he’s never really repaid his brother for what he’s done. Instead, Daniel admonishes the caring actions of Angus. Danny claims that he’d be fine without someone following closely behind to pick up the pieces, but he’s never experienced life without his twin to know how he’d cope. The two have a good dynamic going, though Danny’s been trying to bring his twin out of his shell ever since the two got to high school. It doesn’t seem to be working very well, but then again, does Danny really want his brother climbing the social ladder of Silver High when he’s already so high up it himself?Â
From an early age, Daniel’s twin brother practically thrust upon him the opportunity to be the rowdier, rebellious, less responsible of the two boys. Needless to say he took Gus up on that offer, and no one can deny the fact that he fits the role perfectly. Despite the fact that a majority of his actions and decisions cause exasperation to sprout up in his parents, brother, and just about anyone with a good sense of how to behave like a mature young adult, Danny disregards the eye-rolls and impatient sighs his behavior receives. Though many find him irritating, that only eggs the boy on even more. He loves living life on the edge and seeing how far he can push someone’s buttons. Getting trashed on the weekends, showing up to school high, and hooking up with some dude’s girlfriend of five years? Most people wouldn’t think of doing any of those things, but Danny takes life as it comes at him, going with the flow and indulging himself as much as possible.Â
