(♛) DARCY CRAWFORD is a TWENTY-TWO year old HUNTER who is TAKEN
Being born wasn’t the easiest task for Darcy, according to the doctors abridged version she’d wiggled around a few to many times and the umbilical cord had wrapped around her neck causing some complications for her mother as well as herself. An emergency C-section was performed and pure fear set in for her parents…then the small baby girl started crying. Looking back, that was probably one of the least dangerous situation’s she’d been in and maybe things would have been easier if her life had never began but easier doesn’t always mean better.
Darcy grew up a simple first four years. There were picnics and parks and playgrounds; her father even took her to her first day of preschool. She had fond memories of being a kid but things changed when her parents started fighting and it only took two months before he was out the door, never to be heard from again. She didn’t exactly know why he left or why their perfectly happy family shattered so easily but as a kid, she didn’t absorb it as harshly.
The next four years were a little tougher, her mom began travelling and life on the road wasn’t as easy as packed lunches and preschool. Darcy’s mother never did anything to hide the truth but she also knew her girl wasn’t old enough to bare the responsibility yet. Around the age of eight that the pieces of the puzzle came together, monsters were real. Her mom had been fighting them all her life and her dad just wasn’t strong enough to deal with it.
Her mother sat the girl down like it was a bedtime story, it would have started out like “Once upon a time, the princess was the hero and the prince shit his pants…” As her mother explained, a werewolf wondered in on their happy, normal life and “fucked it up”. [In Molly’s defense, her feelings were still a bit tender so her words weren’t very ‘child friendly’.] From what Darcy understood through heated words and tears, her mother grew up in a family of hunters, strong and independent but when she met Henry, her husband, she left the life willingly. When the werewolf chose their new town as a target to hunt in, she was forced back into doing her job and Henry didn’t understand. He thought it was too dangerous, he had typical reactions of fear and just left.
From then on, Darcy felt closer to her mother, any subconscious harboring feelings blaming her for her father’s departure dissipated and she only felt love, respect and pure admiration for her mother’s heroism. She began to learn the ropes of hunting, how to wield weapons, how to slay vampires and werewolves, wendigos and even mermaids. Anything that endangered a human was an enemy of theirs.
They traveled together in an old RV across the country taking whatever jobs came their way. Darcy would enroll herself in a high schools whenever they knew they’d be in a town for a longer period of time. However, when they were on the road it was workbooks and libraries. The lifestyle was stressful but she got her GED. Unfortunately, the next step was college but staying at a university while hunting down monsters wasn’t an option. With, Molly breathing down her neck Darcy opted for a ‘shifty’ online degree in chemistry. To Darcy, this meant more frequent stops for wifi and textbooks, a burden. She had no interest in school work, hunting was her life and main duty.
News of Beacon Hills has travelled through the hunter’s grape vine fast; Darcy and her mother caught wind quickly. After many deep discussions and a few arguments, they’ve decided to take their chances and clean up the town. Darcy thinks it’s their duty to help out the humans in the town, they’re oblivious to the evils that are surrounding them. Molly’s a little less eager, her want to get out of the lifestyle is something she’s starting to push on her daughter more and more. It’s starting to cause a rift between them.
Darcy’s not having any of it though, while her mother sits on her ass in the apartment all day avoiding the problems that the world can’t see, she’ll be taking care of the Beacon Hills’ residents. She’s planted herself into Beacon Hills high school as an assistant teacher, apparently that chemistry degree did come in handy as well as a few faked documents, to get closer to the students. In her experience, the teenagers gossip more about this kind of stuff and it’s easy to set up teacher-parent conferences. “Oh…you’re student’s grades are slipping do you think that’s because of the recent murders?”..que the word vomit. She doesn’t have much of a plan or a vendetta but she’s more of a “make it up as I go” kind of girl.
Darcy’s pretty blunt when she’s talking to strangers, she’s not much of a ‘kill them with kindness’ kind of gal but she does try to keep her cool. She can be rude, mostly she keeps her thoughts too herself but a lot of the time those words or actions slip through and tend to tick people off. She tends to step on people’s toes accidentally but she doesn’t really care if it’s after the fact. If feelings get hurt, they’re already hurt, she’s not going to go out of her way to fix them unless she actually likes the person; which is rare…and that’s only because in her way of life she never gets a chance to get to know people. If she had friends, they’d see a more honest side to her, which means in all truthfulness more rudeness. She’d be less likely to hide her thoughts from her friends or people she knows, so you’d get full force Darcy sass but there’s a good side to these girl too! Darcy’s loyal and protective, once you have her as a friend, you’ve got a miniature redheaded body guard for life. She’s adventurous, none of those buddies of yours want to go cliff diving? Call Darcy. She’s got spunk and sass and a mouth like a sailor and if you can handle all that, then you’ve got skills and a little hunter friend.
I’m not much of a shipper, if anything it is all Darcy x chemistry. I’m am really interested to see the interactions (non-romantic) between her and Derek, Scott, Allison, Lydia maybe some sass offs between Stiles, but the pre-mades will probably be really interesting!
