I really like this russian edition of classic books. Letting famous artists do the covers in YA style was such a simple but clever decision. According to the recent study the number of teenage readers increased, possibly thanks to these covers. I own traditional classics with blank covers but if I ever see one of these in the wild, it’ll probably make me go feral.

The Witchlands series in a nutshell
The waiters
I don't have my own personality - I'm half Holden Caulfield and half Bridget Jones
And I'm both
And "Come play" by Stray kids is a theme song for the whole series
You know this trend Soldier, Poet, King
For Ninth house
Darlington thought that he was a King but he was a Soldier or a Poet
Alex thought that she's was Soldier but she was a King
And for Dawes - in the beginning Poet but I see her as a Soldier now
I don't have my own personality - I'm half Holden Caulfield and half Bridget Jones
"waitiiiiiing, waitiiiiiiing"
"wait for it, wait for it"
honey, whatchu waitin’ for???
POV: me when the waiting pattern in the musicals
I could write dissertations about the waiting pattern in the musicals
No, but Wait for me from the musical Hadestown is written for Alex and Darlington from Ninth house by Leigh Bardugo
When I imagine the moment when Alex and the rest are going to Hell for Darlington I definitely can hear Wait for me playing in the background
I'm coming wait for me (wait)
I hear the walls repeating (wait)
The falling of my feet and
It sounds like drumming (wait)
And I am not alone (wait)
I hear the rocks and stones (wait)
Echoing my song
I'm coming (coming, coming)
There is hope, desperation and yearning. It fits them so well
Also the parallel Darlington and Alex/ Orpheus and Eurydice is so wild for me. In the beginning Darlington is the one to save Alex from her past, from her own Hell, he's Orpheus here, I believe that in Ninth house there was his thought that you shouldn't look back when you leave Hell - even he sees himself as Orpheus. Later the roles switch and Alex leads him out of Hell - she's Orpheus now. They saved each other from Hell (figuratively and literally)
I love this parallel so much. (When I catch you Leigh, when I catch you)
Iseult: I didn't get the joke
Aeduan: I'll explain it❤️
Safi: I also didn't get the joke
Aeduan: google it
Iseult: You're not what I thought you'd be like
Aeduan: Mean and scary?
Iseult: Yeah
Aeduan: Yeah well...I actually kinda thought you'd be kinda mean and scary too
Iseult: Me?
Aeduan: Terrifying
