Also turquoise is water soluble
selenite is also water soluble, and feldspars like labradorite and rainbow moonstone can lose their luster if left submerged.
This is lengthy, but if you plan on bathing with crystals, charging them in water, putting them in drinking water, or getting them wet in any way you have to do your research to make sure that they wonāt dissolve, harm your skin, or literally poison you. Be smart and do the reading!Ā

Throw Out Your Beauty Blender NOW!!!!
Beauty Blenders for their primary purpose (applying your normal shades of foundation and blending concealer) are trash and hereās WHY. This is a call out post for beauty blenders because Iām SICK and TIRED of seeing people use these filthy things!!!
WHY THEYRE TRASH
1. THEY ARENāT AS REUSABLE AS YOU THINK THEY ARE. Beauty sponges cling onto and lock bacteria inside of them, and most of us donāt wash them after every single use, mainly because washing a sponge is time consuming and itās easier to just wet the sponge and use it. Water + time = bacteria and possibly MOLD. If you you wet your sponge each time you use it WITHOUT disinfecting it guess what? Youāre putting bacteria on your skin that can cause skin issues including acne and contact dermatitis or rashes. The most IDEAL way to use a beauty blender is to use it for a week, wash and disinfect between each use, and then throw it away and start with a fresh one, which can be expensive and wasteful.
2. THEY ABSORB AND WASTE (EXPENSIVE) PRODUCT. How much money do you spend on your foundation? For some of us itās up to $50-$60 a bottle, but regardless a beauty blender is a sponge and itās going to do what sponges do: ABSORB LIQUIDS. Even if you wet a sponge before use, which is the preferred way to use a beauty blender, it is going to absorb and trap your makeup, even more than any other applicator. If you value the money you spend on products and want to extend the life of each bottle of liquid makeup, consider throwing your sponge in the trash.
3. THEYāRE ANNOYING. You ever sit down to do your makeup only to realize you forgot to wet your beauty blender? Have you ever tried packing your makeup into a small bag (maybe an ipsy bag) and realized that your beauty blender is just this bulky round thing thatās touching all your other makeup and spreading residual makeup all over your things, like other makeup products, brushes and bag? Theyāre annoying, theyāre bulky, and most of us donāt carry a sanitary holder for them because beauty blenders donāt usually come with one. Throw that shit out.
WHAT TO USE INSTEAD
1. USE A THICK, DENSE FOUNDATION BRUSH!! It Cosmetics and Real Techniques make good foundation brushes that are dense, soft, and easy to clean. Brushes are easily the way to go. EASILY. Brushes can last for years with the right brush cleaner (more on that later), and they donāt have to be wet before each use. Theyāre easier to clean (I mean really clean) and do not absorb nearly as much makeup as a beauty blender would. Itās a misconception that you have to be āgoodā at makeup to use a brush. If your brush is DENSE And thick, itāll give you virtually the same results as a beauty blender, if not better results. All a beauty sponge really is is a dense surface that spreads makeup evenly, and a dense brush will do just that.
2. AN INSTANT BRUSH CLEANER TO USE BEFORE EACH USE. I know the prospect of cleaning your brush before each use seems unrealistic, but there are instant brush cleaners out there that work very well and disinfect while also cleaning the brush of makeup. Brush Bath by It Cosmetics is my favorite as it works pretty instantly and is skin-safe. A lot of brush cleaners are also brush conditioners, so theyāll keep the brush soft and like-new after each and every use, meaning youāll easily get YEARS out of your brush vs a week of use with a beauty blender. Alternatively, you can also use 90% rubbing alcohol on your (SYNTHETIC) brushes to instantly clean and (kind of) sanitize them. Do NOT use alcohol on real-hair brushes or youāll ruin them.
OTHER MAKEUP APPLICATORS/PRODUCTS TO AVOID
1. SILICONE APPLICATORS ARE A GIMMICK AND I DONT CARE WHAT YOUR FRIENDS TOLD YOU ABOUT THEM. There are 1 million and 1 other applicators that work better than silicone blenders. Essence and Pür are two brands that currently sell āsili-spongesā and these are also two brands that constantly capitalize off of beauty industry trends and gimmicks. Silicone isnāt porous enough to flawlessly push and blend product into the skin and it tends to lead to a patchy application. If you find yourself with a silicone āspongeā in your possession, use It for applying facemasks or something. Silicone doesnāt belong in your makeup kit. Periodt.
2. BRUSH āSHAMPOOSā ARE UNREALISTIC especially for ex-beauty blender users. One thing people who use beauty sponges love in the quickness and convenience of a sponge and not having to wash big foundation brushes. If you buy a brush shampoo but you donāt have a routine for washing your brushes regularly, or you donāt want to wait 1-2 days for your brushes to dry, youāll end up with a bunch of dirty brushes that you never clean and probably have a lot of bacteria. Instead of using a brush shampoo that will require you to leave your brushes out overnight, opt for an instant brush cleaner. Youāll be glad you did.
3. THOSE HALF-BRUSH HALF-SPONGE SHITS. THEYāRE BAD. Hybrid sponge-brush applicators that sell themselves as āconvenient two in onesā are just another way to sell you trash for double the price. The sponge is virtually unusable because theyāre incredibly hard to truly disinfect due to being attached to a plastic stick, and the brush is usually not good because the handle is often thick due to there being a bulky sponge on the other end. Just use a normal brush, you can usually find a really good one for half the price of a hybrid applicators. ALTERNATIVELY, any sponge with a handle is an abomination as well and I would IMPLORE YOU to use a normal sponge without a handle if youāre going to use a sponge at all.
I think thatās all I have for now! If I missed anything feel free to add onto this list. And remember, makeup is just harmless fun and anyone can play with it however they want, but there are ways to achieving certain results and conserving the money we spend on our hobby which include making educated choices! :)
I donāt use beauty blenders anyway, I have powder foundation for the rare occasion I wear it; even so, I use foundation brushes. Or my fingers, after I wash my hands with plain bar soap. The oil on my fingers isnt going to be nearly as bad as the bacteria in makeup sponges.
Still. EW.
call me crazy but like i donāt moisten my blender before i use it bc my foundation is liquid? i just never saw the need?? but, i can see why theyāre gross and harbor more bacteria than a brush. speaking of, i need to clean all of my brushes, asap.Ā

10 Reasons Not To Relapse:
1) Withdrawals. Those werenāt fun, were they?
2) The mental torture and anxiety of realizing the dope is almost outā¦
3) ā¦and having to experience that feeling every single day.
4) Your freedom will be lost once again. The dope will be making all the decisions now, and it doesnāt care how its choices will destroy you.
5) Do you really want to lose your clean time? Even if itās a day, so many people will never be able to achieve a day of sobriety.
6) Oh, but you might not get an opportunity to ever get clean again, because thereās a good chance youāll O.D.
7) Youāll go back to the same lifestyle that brought you to get clean to begin with.
8) Think you feel shitty now? Youāll feel even shitter when you relapse.
9) Think of your worst drug run and double it: thatās what youāll have to look forward to.
10) I may not know you personally, but I know you donāt deserve to relive the horror that is active addiction. You may question your worth, but let me be the one to tell you that you deserve SO MUCH BETTER than having a needle in your arm, powder in your nose, or toxin in your lungs.
Now, donāt be ashamed or feel hopeless if you relapsed, because relapse is a part of lot of peopleās stories, including mine. Relapse doesnāt mean you canāt get clean again; in fact itās a big incentive to say āfuck you addiction!ā And try again!
** This post is for the addicts who are about to pick up. I just wanted to try to prevent at least one personās relapse, because as many of us know, relapses are miserable. **

Teach boys about periods
My mother also talked about periods to my brothers.
When I first got mine I had terrible cramps. Crippling cramps. I once was camping with my family and a few of my big brotherās friends when my period came. My cramps were so bad that my mom gave me a full pain killer ( I was 13 and before that she only gave me pills cut in half).
I literally laid down on my parentsā air mattress and cried in pain for an hour before the pill kicked in.
My brothers friend came in to the big tent and I was just curled up and sobbing. Now, I was quite the tomboy and was known to rough house with my brothers and their friends and made sure I wasnt seen as just āa little girl.ā So my brotherās friend was confused to see me openly weeping in the fetal position (seriously, these were the worst cramps I have had in my life. My vision went white). He asked what was wrong with me.
My big brother stood up immediately and suggested a nice long hike. During this hike I am sure he had a pretty awkward conversation with his friend explaining menstrual cramps, because when they got back the pain pill had (mostly) kicked in and I was sitting up at a table when my brotherās friend sheepishly asked me if I was feeling better. I said I was better, and he said good.
When we made s'mores that night my brother and his friend kept me well supplied with chocolate.
Making sure sons know as much about periods and menstruation as daughters makes them better brothers, better sons better fathers, and better men. A man that understands a period will not lightly accuse a woman of ābeing on her periodā if the woman is in an argument.
Raise better sons Teach them about normal bodily functions.
